<p>Original data set for ‘‘Influences on Chemical Distribution Patterns across the west Greenland Shelf: The Roles of Ocean Currents, Sea Ice Melt, and Freshwater Runoff‘‘ contributing to European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation program under Grant Agreement No. 86938 (ECOTIP) and the European Union’s Horizon 2023 research and innovation program under Grant Agreement No. 101136480 (SEA-Quester).</p> <p>The samples were collected between 18 and 28 July 2021 on board RV <em>Dana </em>along the west coast of Greenland.</p> <p>The data includes basic information (sample name, date, coordinates, depth), primary water column parameters (salinity, temperature, oxygen), dissolved (<45 µm) trace elements (dV, dFe, dMn, dCo, dNi, dCu, dCd, dPb) and carbonate system parameters (alkalinity and dissolved inorganic carbon) for each sample.</p> <p> </p>

Measurements of bite traces on bones
<p><span><span><span><span><span>C</span></span><span><span>arnivores make traces on bones with their teeth when feeding. </span></span><span><span>A</span></span><span><span> true predatory bite trace (</span></span><span><span><span>predichnia</span></span></span><span><span>) form</span></span><span><span>s</span></span><span><span> when a predator catches and kills its prey or attempts to do so. Both</span></span> <span><span>predators and scavengers may leave their non-predatory feeding traces during </span></span><span><span><span>postmortem</span></span></span><span><span> food processing. Despite the interpretative uncertainties as to the ethology such ichnofossils may represent, the bite traces have been traditionally classified as </span></span><span><span><span>predichnia</span></span></span><span><span> – traces of predation.</span></span><span><span> Previously, t</span></span><span><span>here was no alternative ethological category available for workers to classify them. </span></span><span><span>The p</span></span><span><span>resent paper fills that gap and describes tooth-made ichnofossils from the continental Upper Triassic Grabowa Formation of southern Poland. It discusses modes the serration and striations might have formed along </span></span><span><em><span>Linichnus </span></em></span><span><span><span>edges</span></span></span><span><span>, potential makers of the trace fossils, feeding strategies and food-processing behaviors the </span></span><span><span><span>ichnites</span></span></span><span><span> may represent. Costing data for implementing mHealth facilitated tuberculosis contact tracing in Uganda
<p><strong>Introduction</strong></p> <p>Mobile health (mHealth) applications may improve timely access to health services and improve patient-provider communication, but the upfront costs of implementation may be prohibitive, especially in resource-limited settings.</p> <p><strong>Methods</strong></p> <p>We measured the costs of developing and implementing an mHealth-facilitated, home-based strategy for tuberculosis (TB) contact investigation (CI) in Kampala, Uganda, between February 2014 and July 2017. We compared routine implementation involving community health workers (CHWs) screening and referring household contacts to clinics for TB evaluation to home-based HIV testing and sputum collection and transport with test results delivered by automated short messaging services (SMS) We carried out key informant interviews with CHWs and asked them to complete time-and-motion surveys. We estimated program costs from the Ugandan health system perspective, using top-down and bottom-up (components-based) approaches. We estimated total costs per contact investigated and per TB-positive contact identified in 2018 US dollars, one and five years after program implementation.</p> <p><strong>Results</strong> </p> <p>The total top-down cost was $472,327, including $358,504 (76%) for program development and $108,584 (24%) for program implementation. This corresponded to $320-$348 per household contact investigated and $8873-$9652 per contact diagnosed with active TB over a 5-year period. CHW time was spent primarily evaluating household contacts who returned to the clinic for evaluation (median 30 minutes per contact investigated, interquartile range [IQR]: 30-70), collecting sputum samples (median 29 minutes, IQR: 25-30) and offering HIV testing services (median 28 minutes, IQR: 17- 43). Cost estimates were sensitive to infrastructural capacity needs, program reach, and the epidemiologic yield of contact investigation. </p> <p><strong>Conclusion</strong></p> <p>Over 75% of all costs of the mHealth-facilitated TB contact investigation strategy were dedicated to establishing mHealth infrastructure and capacity. Implementing the mHealth strategy at scale and maintaining it over a longer time horizon could help decrease development costs as a proportion of total costs.</p>
Use of a pressure wire for automatically correcting artifacts in phasic pressure tracings from a fluid-filled catheter
<div> <div> <div>Background/purpose: Matching phasic pressure tracings between a fluid-filled catheter and high-fidelity pressure wire has received limited attention, although each part contributes half of the information to clinical decisions. We aimed to study the impact of a novel and automated method for improving the phasic calibration of a fluid-filled catheter by accounting for its oscillatory behavior.</div> <div> </div> <div>Methods/materials: Retrospective analysis of drift check tracings was performed using our algorithm that corrects for mean difference (offset), temporal delays (timing), differential sensitivity of the manifold transducer and pressure wire sensor (gain), and the oscillatory behavior of the fluid-filled catheter described by its resonant frequency and damping factor (how quickly oscillations disappear after a change in pressure).</div> <div> </div> <div>Results: Among 2886 cases, correcting for oscillations showed a large improvement in 28% and a medium improvement in 41% (decrease in root mean square error >0.5 mmHg to <1 or 1–2 mmHg, respectively). 96 % of oscillators were underdamped with median damping factor of 0.27 and frequency of 10.6 Hz. Fractional flow reserve or baseline Pd/Pa demonstrated no clinically important bias when ignoring oscillations. However, uncorrected subcycle non-hyperemic pressure ratios (NHPR) displayed both bias and scatter.</div> <div> </div> <div>Conclusions: By automatically accounting for the oscillatory behavior of a fluid-filled catheter system, phasic matching against a high-fidelity pressure wire can be improved compared to standard equalization methods. The majority of tracings contain artifacts, mainly due to underdamped oscillations, and neglecting them leads to biased estimates of equalization parameters. No clinically important bias exists for whole-cycle metrics, in contrast to significant effects on subcycle NHPR.</div> </div> </div>
