Data from: Predictions of the transient loading on box-like objects by arbitrary pressure waves in air
This study investigates the transient loading on rigid, isolated, box-like objects by impinging pressure waves of variable intensity and time duration. A numerical solver is used to predict the transient flow around the object and the consequent pressure on the object's surface. An analytical model is developed which is capable of predicting the transient loading history on the faces of a box-like object; it was found in good agreement with the numerical predictions. The numerical and analytical models are then used to construct non-dimensional design maps. Different regimes of loading are identified and explored.

Investigating Multi and Many-Objective Metaheuristics to Support Software Integration Testing

In spite of the fact that Search-Based Software Testing (SBST) is a very appealing field today, there are few studies that deal with software integration testing and, even so, most of these works are not truly related to the generation of test cases to this testing level. In this paper, we present a method, InMeHy, which aims at investigating the use of metaheuristics to derive integration test cases based on C++ source code. A graph is created based on the code which represents the integration of several classes of the application. Multi and Many-Objective metaheuristics (Evolutionary Algorithms) were considered to generate integration test cases and were assessed via three quality indicators. Results show that the traditional Indicator-Based Evolutionary Algorithm (IBEA) turned out to be the best out of four algorithms evaluated, including newer Many-Objective strategies such as Nondominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm-III (NSGA-III).

Bridge Construction Monitoring using LIDAR for Quantified, Objective Quality-Control Quality-Assurance (QOQCQA)

Transportation infrastructure construction quality control and quality assurance demands construction monitoring by field inspectors. Currently, these inspectors monitor infrastructure by measuring and photographing structures. These tasks allow them to assess any correction decision during construction or to inform about the quality of the construction process for the future. In order to promote and objective decisions obtained during infrastructure construction, the proposed research project developed and implemented a methodology to measure construction progress and compared it with the designed 3D shape, quantifying the difference. This proposed project includes implementation for the development of DOT standards that could be added in near future bridge construction documents. The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) showed a strong interest in this topic. The experience of the PIs on bridge design and construction, field inspection, and LIDAR technology was integrated in order to evaluate the results with impact both in research and in industry. Specifically, the research results outline recommendations about standards for implementation of technology in specifications for NMDOT or other DOTs.

FAIR Digital Object and DiSSCo Research Infrastructure Design

This presentation is about how DiSSCo (Distributed System of Scientific Collections) is using the FAIR Digital Object as the cornerstone of a research infrastructure design. DiSSCo -- a new Research Infrastructure currently in the preparation phase -- will digitally unify European natural science assets under common curation and access and will ensure that data is Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable (FAIR). DiSSCo will integrate a fragmented landscape of natural science collections, transforming it into a unified, robust, quality ensured knowledge base of unprecedented scale for bio- and geodiversity.

With a brief historical context of FAIR Digital Object, this presentation introduces the concept of Digital Specimen. Then it highlights the incorporation of outputs from several RDA (Research Data Alliance) interests and working groups in the design decision.
