The data are provided over overlapping wind direction secotors of 5(10) degree width stepped by 1(2) degrees relative wind direction. These bias factors can be used to correct the observed wind speeds for air-flow distortion on a sample by sample basis. For details see Landwehr et al. Vertical profiles of Doppler spectra of hydrometeors from a Micro Rain Radar recorded during the austral summer of 2016/2017 in the Southern Ocean on the Antarctic Circumnavigation Expedition (ACE).
<p><strong>Dataset abstract</strong></p> <p>This dataset includes vertical profiles of the Doppler spectra and derived quantities of hydrometeors using a Micro Rain Radar (MRR-2) during the Antarctic Circumnavigation Expedition in 2016/2017. The MRR is a frequency-modulated-continuous-wave (FMCW) Doppler radar working at 24 GHz (K band). It measures the Doppler spectrum at vertical incidence with 31 range gates of 100 m. The data are processed to calculate rainfall rates and standard radar moments. For rain events, the drop size distribution and the rainfall rate are derived using the method by Peters et al. (2005). Nutrient concentration in seawater samples, collected from the underway supply, CTD and trace metal rosettes in the Southern Ocean during the austral summer of 2016/2017, on board the Antarctic Circumnavigation Expedition (ACE).
<p><strong>Dataset abstract</strong></p> <p>This dataset presents concentrations of nutrients (µmol/L): nitrous oxide (NOx), nitrate, nitrite, ammonium (NH4), phosphate (PO4) and silicic acid (Si), measured in samples of seawater during the Antarctic Circumnavigation Expedition (ACE). Samples were collected from CTD and trace metal rosette (TMR) deployments, as well as from the underway water supply on board, then analysed by flow injection following certified standards. <p><strong>Dataset abstract</strong></p> <p>A Vaisala MAWS240 meteorological station was installed on the R/V Akademik Tryoshnikov during a circumnavigation of Antarctica in the austral summer season of 2016/2017. This dataset contains the raw wind parameter data that have been extracted from the original raw text data files. Data coverage is from 17th November 2016 until 11th April 2017, with gaps where the ship was in port.</p> <p>True and relative wind speed and direction parameters were recorded with a resolution of three seconds.</p> <p>Datetime should be combined with TIMEDIFF to convert it to UTC.</p> <p>Data from this dataset have been corrected and quality-checked in another published dataset. <p><strong>Dataset abstract</strong></p> <p>This dataset consists of a 5-minute time series of particle number concentration of fluorescent and total aerosol particles that were measured by wideband integrated by aerosol sensor during the Antarctic Circumnavigation Expedition during the austral summer of 2016/2017. For this dataset, aerosol particles within the optical diameter range of 0.5 μm to 14.5 μm were considered. Bacterial and phytoplankton abundances by flow cytometry - collected from the Southern Ocean in the austral summer of 2016/2017, during the Antarctic Circumnavigation Expedition.
<p>Seawater surface samples (5 m) were collected every 6 hours from the ship’s underway pump. In addition, vertical profiles (6 depths, generally from 5 to 100-150 m) were sampled from CTD casts using a SBE 911 Plus attached to a rosette of 24 12-L PVC Niskin bottles. This dataset presents the abundances of high-DNA containing and low-DNA containing bacteria, pico and nanophytoplankton from seawater samples collected from the ship’s underway pump and CTDs. Samples were fixed with paraformaldehyde and glutaraldehyde and stored at -80ºC. In the lab, they were thawed, and one replicate, for bacteria, was stained with SYBR-Green and counted in a Cube 8 flow cytometer (SYSMEX PARTEC) based on green fluorescence. Another replicate was analyzed without staining for phytoplankton, and counted based on the red and orange autofluorescences. Samples were collected around the Southern Ocean on the R/V Akademik Tryoshnikov in the austral summer of 2016/2017, as part of the Antarctic Circumnavigation Expedition (ACE).</p>

One-minute average cruise track and ship velocity of the Antarctic Circumnavigation Expedition (ACE) undertaken during the austral summer of 2016/2017.
