Opening education in the MENA region: In-depth interviews and Focus Group data with experts in open education in Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco and Palestine.

<p>The two data sets presented here are part of a study which aimed at identifying cultural barriers in the adoption of open education in higher education in the Middle East, specifically in Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco and Palestine. This study was conducted in the context of OpenMed &ndash; &ldquo;Opening up Education in South-Mediterranean countries&rdquo; (<a href="https://openmedproject.eu/">https://openmedproject.eu/</a>), an international cooperation project co-funded by the&nbsp;<a href="http://eacea.ec.europa.eu/erasmus-plus/actions/key-action-2-cooperation-for-innovation-and-exchange-good-practices/capacity-0_en">Erasmus+ Capacity Building in Higher Education programme</a>&nbsp;of the European Union during the period 15 October 2015 &ndash; 14 October 2018.</p> <p>The first document presents the transcripts of in-depth interviews (N=7) conducted in February 2018 through Skype with open education experts, from seven universities: namely: Alexandria University (Egypt), Cairo University (Egypt), German Jordanian University (Jordan), Princess Sumaya University of Technology (Jordan), Notre Dame University (Lebanon), Birzeit University (Palestine) and An-Najah University (Palestine). The second document is a transcript of a focus group which took place in Agadir (Morocco) in May 2018, with open education experts from eight universities: Alexandria University (Egypt), Cadi Ayyad University (Morocco), Cairo University (Egypt), German Jordanian University (Jordan), Ibn Zohr University (Morocco), Princess Sumaya University of Technology (Jordan), and An-Najah University (Palestine). Dataset of EMBCP survey results: Ocean experts (2020)

<p>In order to provide a picture of marine science communication in Europe being presented at the European Marine Board Future Science Brief N&deg;8 &lsquo;<a href="https://www.marineboard.eu/publications/marine-science-communication-europe-way-forward">Marine Science Communication in Europe: a way forward</a>&rsquo;, the European Marine Board Communications Panel (EMCP) carried out three surveys targeting different stakeholder groups from across Europe. The results of these surveys underpin this document. Two main, in-depth surveys were carried out, one targeting experts (Ocean scientists, marine policy-makers, industry representatives, media professionals and Ocean communication or education experts) and the other targeting secondary-school students (17-18 years old). This dataset presents the results of the survey targeting experts.</p>

<p>These two PDF files include the data collected for a study conducted by Afghah et.al, 2022. They include the responses of the participant in this study to a newly developed self-rated ICF-based questionnaire.&nbsp;One file includes the responses to 30 demographic questions and the other one 88 ICF-based questions. Expert-annotated dataset to study cyberbullying in Polish language

<p>We present the first dataset for the Polish language containing annotations of harmful and toxic language. The dataset was created to study harmful Internet phenomena such as cyberbullying and hate speech, which have dramatically gained in numbers in recent years both on Polish Internet as well as worldwide. The dataset was automatically collected and annotated in two ways.&nbsp;Firstly, by two trained layperson volunteers under the supervision of a cyberbullying and hate-speech expert. To improve the quality of annotations, the second turn of annotations was performed by a group of trained expert annotators specializing in the annotation of cyberbullying and hate-speech data, which was also additionally supervised by an additional experienced expert annotator (or super-annotator). We initially utilize the dataset in the classification of cyberbullying in Polish. In particular, the dataset is utilized in two tasks: 1) binary classification of harmful and non-harmful messages, and 2) multi-class classification between two types of harmful information (cyberbullying and hate speech), and others.&nbsp;Apart from the dataset itself, we also share the classification model&nbsp;which achieved the highest classification results for the dataset to be freely applied by third parties in cyberbullying prevention architectures.</p>

TIGQA: An Expert-Annotated Question-Answering Dataset in Tigrinya

<div> <h3>What is TIGQA?</h3> <a href="https://github.com/hailaykidu/TigQA-Dataset#what-is-tigqa"></a></div> <p>TigQA is an expert-annotated dataset in Tigrinya, a low-resource language spoken by approximately 10 million speakers in Eritrea and the Tigray region of Ethiopia. Our proposed SQuAD-like dataset contains 2,685 question-answer pairs covering 122 diverse topics such as climate, water, and traffic. These pairs are from 537 context paragraphs in publicly accessible Tigrinya and Biology books, with the answers being provided by teachers from the region.</p> <div>&nbsp;</div> <div>&nbsp;</div>

Data from: Bristol stool scale: Patient versus expert score data

<p>The Bristol Stool Scale (BSS) is one of the most commonly used tools for evaluation of stool consistency.<strong> </strong>BSS ranges from 1-7 and each score is assigned to a given consistency of the feces. Self-reported characterizations can differ from an expert evaluation, and the reliability of BSS is unclear. The dataset consists of BSS scores by patients with inflammatory bowel disease collected throughout a 3-year follow-up, matched with scores assessed by experienced bioengineers (experts). The purpose of the study where data was collected was to compare patient scores to expert scores and hence determine the reliability of the BSS.</p>

Comparing LLM-Generated Tips and Expert-Created Tips in Quantum Computing Education

<p>This dataset includes the anonymized data from two studies with the goal to evaluate if LLM-generated tips can be used instead of expert-created tips to help students answer quantum computing questions. <br>For the main study (<em>main_test_anonymous.csv</em>) a between-subject design was used to quizz participants of the QUIKSTART 2024 summer school, giving them four multiple-choice quantum physics questions and one tip per question. Each participant was assigned one of four conditions represented by the combination of "creator" and "labeled_as" column in the csv file.&nbsp; In addition we asked to rate quality, correctness and helpfulness for each tip and to rate the perceived difficulty of the question. We removed demographics for anonymities sake.</p> <p>Additionally, we conducted a study directly comparing the LLM-generated and expert-created tips (<em>tip_eval_anonymous.csv</em>). Where we let experts and students rate the tips helpfulness, correctness, if they gave away the answer and if they pointed to relevant concepts. Furthermore, participants had to decide for each question which tip they preferred and were able to leave a comment to give their reasoning. Expert consensus on core topics of sustainable development online learning module for family physicians: A Delphi study

<p><strong>Objectives</strong></p> <p>Medical institutions must provide learning experiences that enhance the knowledge and perspectives of Sustainable Development (SD) to prepare trainees of family medicine to become competent global citizens. The aim of this study was to develop an SD online learning module for trainees of family medicine.</p> <p><strong>Design</strong></p> <p>This mixed-methods study was conducted from January 2020 to May 2021, beginning with a literature review concerning Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) and Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) in medicine. In-depth interviews were held to assess the relevant needs of family medic<span>ine</span> training, followed by a two-round Delphi survey with experienced educators (n = 21) in family medicine to refine and achieve consensus on the appropriate SDG topics for family physicians.</p> <p><strong>Setting</strong></p> <p>All residency training programmes in Thailand.</p> <p><strong>Participants</strong></p> <p>Members of the Residency Training Committee, Royal College of Family Physicians of Thailand.</p> <p><strong>Results</strong></p> <p>The literature review and in-depth interviews identified 12 topics of SD that were required for family physicians. The first round of the Delphi survey was concluded by identifying 7 core topics with additional suggestions. In the second round, a consensus was obtained among the experienced educators regarding 7 core topics: 1) A definition of SD, 2) Principles of SD, 3) SDG, 4) A new concept of SD, 5) SD in the context of Thailand, 6) SD and principles of family medicine and 7) SD and family practice. These core topics were grouped within three main objectives and three sub-modules.</p> <p><strong>Conclusions</strong></p> <p>An online <span>learning module of SD for family physicians was developed using a modified Delphi method. This included three sub-modules: 1) Concept and principles of SD, 2) SDG and 3) SD and its integration with family practice. This online learning module will provide additional resources for trainees of family medicine and Thai family physicians to expand their knowledge and perspectives of sustainable development.</span></p>
