Monument to the merchant's wife in 1871 (№1)
Russia, Republic of Bashkortostan, city of Ishimbay. A slab from the grave of the Sterlitamak merchant wife Matryona Grigorievna Mikhailova (1803-1871), who died in 1871, was found in the foundation of an old wooden house. Obviously, in the 30s of the XX century, the gravestone was brought from the destroyed rural cemetery and used to found the first houses of the modern oil city of Ishimbay. The monument is evidence of the struggle against the Orthodox Church in the first decades of Soviet power in Russia. Monument to Party Founding (DPRK)
Scrapping footage to create 3D models is not only useful to documentate lost heritage but also those with restricted access. Here is a unusual type of modern heritage that might be difficult to scan: A DPRK monument. The Monument to Party Founding (Chosŏn'gŭl: 당창건기념탑; MR: Tangch'anggŏnkinyŏmt'ap) is a monument in Pyongyang, the capital of North Korea. The monument is rich in symbolism: the hammer, sickle and calligraphy brush symbolize the workers, farmers and intellectuals. The element is 50 meters high to symbolize the 50-year anniversary of the founding of the Workers' Party of Korea. This point cloud was made from a 3s video with visualSFM. A better model has been achieved but some part are still missing due to lack of pattern on some side. There is a mesh model but due to the missing part it's a bit "blooby". Fujiko Stone Monuments scans with iPhone12 Pro
These five stone monuments bear to this day traces of the "Fujiko" faithful who lived in the Yanagimori Shrine area. Fujiko was a popular faith tradition based on devotion to Mt. Fuji and attracted a large following among townspeople and farmers during the Edo Period. In 1680, a deity enshrined in Fuji Sengen Shrine was moved from Suruga Fujinomiya Sengen Shrine and enshrined together with Yanagimori Shrine thereby giving it a close connection with Fujiko. Toto Saijiki ("Eastern Capital Almanac") mentions Yanagimori Shrine as an example of "Fujimairi" (visiting Fuji Sengen Shrine) in the Tenpo Era (1830-1844). Grave Monument for a Little Girl
At Mt. Pleasant Cemetery is this beautiful grave monument for 9 year old Mary Braley, who died in 1905. It is especially touching as the monument shows things that relate to a child, such as the small straw hat, the little boots with socks coming out and a symbol of life cut short with the tree stump and the ivy growing in memory around it. I admire how her parents celebrated her memory with this beautiful memorial to her. As I photographed the monument, my assumption that it was some type of a stone cast became wrong as I could see the tool marks in protected spots. This was all hand carved. Wow. Monument of Independence, Kyiv. You are free to use it for whatever you wish. If you want to share with us what you use it for that would be awesome 😁 We modelled it for an AR artistic installation where people could place the monument in their city centers and plazas, realising Ukraine's fight is also for protecting the other democratic countries.
