Figure 1 - NJ tree based on K2P distances for the barcode region of the cytochrome c oxidase I gene among seven species of the genus Plutella and one member of the closely allied genus Eidophasia. Because of the large number of specimens for both Plutella xylostella and Plutella australiana, the tree nodes have been collapsed and specimen records are plotted by state for Australia and by country of origin in other cases. The bracketed numerals indicate the number of specimens from each site. The type specimen of Plutella karsholtella is reassigned to Plutella xylostella and is the only specimen of this species from Spain (Canary Islands).
