Advanced Redox Electrochemical Capacitor Diode (CAPode) based on Parkerite (Ni3Bi2S2) with High Rectification Ratio for Iontronic Applications

<p>Recently, CAPodes were introduced as a new type of capacitive diode analogues. This device realizes unidirectional charging of ultracapacitors based on ion sieving mechanisms. Here, we present a new redox CAPode system in which hydroxide ions react with nickel bismuth sulfide on nickel foam as a battery-like electrode. This redox reaction leads to a high capacitance in a specific polarization window. However, for reversed bias this Faradaic electrode becomes inactive as it does not react with potassium cations, resulting efficient blocking. By adapting counter electrode materials, mass loading, utilized substrates, and electrolyte concentrations a very high rectification ratio (<em>R<sub>I</sub></em> = 37 and <em>R<sub>II</sub></em> = 0.96 at 10&nbsp;mV&nbsp;s<sup>-1</sup>) was achieved, significantly surpassing the performance of other reported redox-type CAPodes. Moreover, this system shows an outstanding long-term stability of a rectification retention of 90% for <em>R<sub>II</sub></em> over 5000 repolarization cycles. Additionally, operando electrochemical measurements provide deep insights into the charge/discharge mechanism leading to a rationalization of the proposed concept. The integrated device, tested in logic gate circuits such as AND and OR gates, shows prospective results in ionologic applications.</p>

On The Design and Application of Thermal Isolation Servers

<p>Dataset.</p> <p>Recently, there has been an increasing trend towards executing real-time applications on multi-core platforms.<br> However, this complicates the design problem, as applications running on different cores can interfere<br> due to shared resources and mediums. In this paper, we focus on thermal interference, where a given task (&tau;1)<br> heats the processor, resulting in reduced service (due to Dynamic Thermal Management (DTM)) to another<br> task (&tau;2). In real-time domain, where tasks have deadline constraints, thermal interference is a substantial<br> problem as it directly impacts the Worst Case Execution Time (WCET) of the effected application (&tau;2). The<br> problem exacerbates as we move to mixed-criticality systems, where the criticality of &tau;2 may be greater than<br> the criticality of &tau;1, complicating the certification process.<br> In this paper,we propose a server based strategy (Thermal Isolation Server (TI Server))which can be used to<br> avoid thermal interference of applications.We also present a heuristic to design TI Servers to meet the timing<br> constraints of all tasks and the thermal constraints of the system. TI Servers are time/space composable, and<br> can be applied to a variety of task models. We also evaluate TI Servers on a hardware test-bed for validation<br> purposes.</p>

Construction, validation and application of nocturnal pollen transport networks in an agro-ecosystem: datasets collected using light microscopy and DNA metabarcoding

<p>This dataset contains all data required to reproduce the analyses conducted in Macgregor&nbsp;<em>et al.&nbsp;</em>(2018), using the R Notebook archived at doi: <a href="https://dx.doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.1322712">10.5281/zenodo.1322712</a>.</p> <p>Specifically, the dataset contains details of pollen transport detected on two matched samples, each containing 311 moths of 41 species, using two methods: a traditional light microscopy approach and a novel DNA metabarcoding approach. Ontology based text mining of gene-phenotype associations: application to candidate gene prediction

<p>Gene-phenotype associations play an important role in understanding<br> &nbsp; the disease mechanisms which is a requirement for treatment<br> &nbsp; development. A portion of gene-phenotype associations are observed<br> &nbsp; mainly experimentally and made publicly available through several<br> &nbsp; standard resources such as MGI. However, there is still a vast<br> &nbsp; amount of gene--phenotype associations buried in the biomedical<br> &nbsp; literature. Given the large amount of literature data, we need<br> &nbsp; automated text mining tools to alleviate the burden in manual<br> &nbsp; curation of gene-phenotype associations and to develop<br> &nbsp; comprehensive resources. We developed an ontology based<br> &nbsp; approach in combination with statistical methods to text mine<br> &nbsp; gene-phenotype associations from literature. Our method achieved<br> &nbsp; AUC values of 0.90 and 0.75 in recovering known gene-phenotype<br> &nbsp; associations from HPO and MGI respectively. We posit that candidate<br> &nbsp; genes and their relevant diseases should be expressed with similar<br> &nbsp; phenotypes in publications. Thus, we demonstrate the utility of our<br> &nbsp; approach by predicting disease candidate genes based on the semantic<br> &nbsp; similarities of phenotypes associated with genes and diseases.&nbsp;We evaluated our disease candidate prediction model on<br> &nbsp; the gene-disease associations from MGI. Our model achieved AUC<br> &nbsp; values of 0.90 and 0.87 on OMIM (human) and MGI (mouse) datasets of<br> &nbsp; gene-disease associations respectively. Our manual analysis on the<br> &nbsp; text mined data revealed that, our method can accurately extract<br> &nbsp; gene-phenotype associations which are not currently covered by the<br> &nbsp; existing public gene-phenotype resources. Overall, results indicate<br> &nbsp; that our method can precisely extract known as well as new<br> &nbsp; gene-phenotype associations from literature. This released dataset at Zenodo covers our gene-phenotype extracts from the literature. The repository includes a comprehensive collection of data and scripts related to optical tweezer experiments, growth assays, qPCR data, and supplementary information. <p>The dataset uploaded here is in association to a manuscript in press by Ajith et al. titled, "Visualizing active fungicide formulation mobility in tomato leaves with Desorption Electrospray Ionisation Mass Spectrometry Imaging". This dataset contains .imzML format files of Mass Spectrometry Imaging data along with the zipped .ibd files for a fungicide application study with a commerical Azoxystrobin formulation. Optimizing the Shelling Process of InP/ZnS Quantum Dots Using a Single-Source Shell Precursor: Implications for Lighting and Display Applications

<p>This is the data supporting the manuscript "Optimizing the Shelling Process of InP/ZnS Quantum Dots Using a Single-Source Shell Precursor: Implications for Lighting and Display Applications".</p> <p>Abstract</p> <p>InP/ZnS core/shell quantum dots (QDs), recognized as highly promising heavy-metal-free emitters, are increasingly utilized in lighting and display applications. Their synthesis in a tubular flow reactor enables production in a highly efficient, scalable, and reproducible manner, particularly when combined with a single-source shell precursor, such as zinc diethyldithiocarbamate (Zn(S2CNEt2)2). However, the photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY) of QDs synthesized with this route remains significantly lower compared to those synthesized in batch reactors involving multiple steps for the shell growth. Our study identifies the formation of absorbing, yet non-emissive ZnS nanoparticles during the ZnS shell formation process as a main contributing factor to this discrepancy. By varying the shelling conditions, especially the shelling reaction temperature and InP core concentration, we investigated the formation of pure ZnS nanoparticles and their impact on the optical properties, particularly PLQY, of the resultant InP/ZnS QDs through UV-vis absorption, steady-state and time-resolved photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy, scanning transmission electron microscopy (STEM) and analytical ultracentrifugation (AUC) measurements. Our results suggest that process conditions, such as lower shelling temperatures or reduced InP core concentrations (resulting in a lower external surface area), encourage the homogeneous nucleation of ZnS. This reduces the availability of shell precursors necessary for an effective passivation of the InP core surfaces, ultimately resulting in lower PLQYs. These findings explain the origin of persistently underperformed PLQY of InP/ZnS QDs synthesized from this synthesis route and suggest further optimization strategies to improve their emission for lighting and display applications.</p> <p>The data are sorted per techniques used for characterization. Concept, Equation, and Applications of Sunya Bhutam and Quantum Energy

<p>This paper presents a theoretical framework exploring the relationship between vacuum energy (Sunya) and existential energy (Bhutam), inspired by the philosophical concept of Sunya Bhutam. Drawing parallels between ancient metaphysical ideas and modern quantum energy dynamics, the equation E = n &times; (V_empty + P_existence) is introduced to describe the total energy in a system. Here, n represents the number of quantum states, while vacuum energy (V_empty) and existential energy (P_existence) capture the contributions of emptiness and existence, respectively. This framework not only aligns with quantum mechanical phenomena such as vacuum fluctuations and dark energy but also offers a bridge between scientific and philosophical thought. Practical applications of this equation are explored in fields such as cosmology, energy systems, material science, and quantum computing.
