<p>The purpose of this project is to detect hypogilance using the EVEILS database.</p> <p>Database is ICU data from Hôtel-Dieu De Lévis , Québec, Canada. Please cite us if you use either the data or code. </p> <p>This code was written during Raphaëlle Giguère Msc in Computer Science. The goal of her project is to detect hypovigilance using machine learning in the ICU. In this repository, you have the data set before preprocessing:</p> <ul> <li>df_hypovigilance : Contains the hours, date and value of the vigilance level, using either the RASS or Ramsay and already converted using the thresholds shown in the paper.</li> <li>raw_df : Contains the raw values from the gateway for each participant. All of the identifying values have been removed.</li> </ul> <p>At the end of the preprocessing_anonymous script, you should generate a new dataset called "df_final". This dataset is used for the training_model script.</p> <p>The cross validation employs groups of random size meaning the results might differ from time to time but should stay consistent.</p> <p> </p>

Data from: Snowmelt and laying date shape the parental care strategy of a high-Arctic shorebird
<p>Parental care varies across animal taxa, from uniparental to biparental care, driven by ecological and social factors such as weather, food availability, predation, and partner availability. Understanding this diversity within species can reveal biotic and abiotic conditions allowing uniparental versus biparental strategies. This study examines the impact of biotic and abiotic factors on parental care strategies in Sanderlings (<em>Calidris alba</em>), one of the few species that uses both types of care. Using long-term data from Greenland (2011-2023), path analyses revealed that laying date and snowmelt influence parental care strategies, with indirect climatic effects during migration and on breeding grounds. We observed a greater proportion of uniparental nests in years with delayed laying dates, and a greater proportion of biparental nests in years with delayed snowmelt. These findings underscore the complex interplay between environmental factors and parental care strategies, offering insights into how these strategies may evolve under changing ecological conditions.</p>

<p>The dataset comprises raw data from a case-control study that compared levels of depression, anxiety, and general psychological symptoms between parents of pediatric palliative care (PPC) patients and parents of healthy controls.</p> <p>Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI), and Symptom Checklist-90 Revised (SCL-90-R) were employed to provide a comprehensive and nuanced understanding of the mental health challenges faced by parents.</p> <p>The designation "case" in the first column (A) represents the parents of PPC patients, while the designation "control" represents the control group. The columns labeled B to S present demographic characteristics data, while columns T to AR present inventory scores. Columns BB to GC, in turn, present the responses to the inventory items.</p> <p> </p> <p> </p>
Data from: Coordination of care reduces conflict and predation risk in a cooperatively breeding bird
<p>When two or more individuals cooperate to provision a shared brood, each carer may be able to maximize their payoffs by coordinating provisioning in relation to what others are doing. This investment 'game' is not simply a matter of how much to invest, but also of the relative timing of investment. Recent studies propose that temporal coordination of care in the forms of alternation (i.e. turn-taking) and synchrony (i.e. provisioning together) function to mitigate conflict between carers and reduce brood predation risk, respectively. Such coordination is widespread in biparental and cooperatively breeding birds, yet the fitness consequences have rarely been empirically tested. Here, we use a long-term study of long-tailed tits <em>Aegithalos caudatus</em>, a facultative cooperatively breeding bird with active coordination of care, to assess the support for these hypothesized functions for coordination of provisioning visits. First, we found evidence that turn-taking mitigates conflict between carers because, in cooperative groups, provisioning rates and offspring recruitment increased with the level of active alternation exhibited by carers, and with the associated increase in provisioning rate parity between carers. In contrast, offspring recruitment did not increase with alternation in biparental nests, although it was positively correlated with parity of provisioning between carers, which is predicted to result from conflict mitigation. Secondly, synchronous nest visits were associated with a reduced probability of nest predation and thus increased brood survival, especially when provisioning rates were high. We attribute this effect to synchrony reducing carer activity near the nest. We conclude that temporal coordination of provisioning visits in the forms of alternation and synchrony both confer fitness benefits on carers, and despite being intrinsically linked, these different kinds of coordination appear to serve different functions.</p>
