Trophic state resilience to hurricane disturbance of Lake Yojoa, Honduras (DATA)
<p><strong>Datasets for manuscript entitled "Trophic state resilience to hurricane disturbance of Lake Yojoa, Honduras"</strong></p> <p><strong>Abstract:</strong> Cyclones are a poorly described disturbance in tropical lakes, with the potential to alter ecosystems and compromise the services they provide. In November 2020, Hurricanes Eta and Iota made landfall near the Nicaragua-Honduras border, inundating the region with a large amount of late-season precipitation. To understand the impact of these storms on Lake Yojoa, Honduras, we compared 2020 and 2021 conditions using continuous (every 16 days) data collected from five pelagic locations. The storms resulted in increased Secchi depth and decreased algal abundance in December 2020, and January and February 2021, and lower-than-average accumulation of hypolimnetic nutrients from the onset of stratification (April 2021) until mixus in November 2021. Despite the reduced hypolimnetic nutrient concentrations, epilimnetic nutrient concentrations returned to (and in some cases exceeded) pre-hurricane levels following annual water column turnover in 2021. This response suggests that Lake Yojoa’s trophic state had only an ephemeral response to the disturbance imposed by the two hurricanes, likely due to internal input of sediment derived nutrients. These aseasonal storms acted as a large-scale experiment that resulted in nutrient dilution and demonstrated the resilience of Lake Yojoa’s trophic state to temporary nutrient reductions.</p>

Mycelial soil fungal communty attributes and mycelial production across a forest disturbance gradient
<div> <h1>Description</h1> <p>This study investigated differences in soil mycelial (actively foraging) fungal community attributes and productivity across a forest disturbance gradient. Hyphal in-growth bags were installed for 6 months in old-growth (OG) and selectively logged (SL) lowland dipterocarp rainforest and oil palm plantation (OP). Soil mycelial (actively foraging) fungal communitywere characterized by ITS amplicon sequencing, and mycelial production estimated by measurement of fungal hyphae. Mechanisms of unbalanced sediment transport linked to anthropogenic disturbance in world's largest tidal power plant
<p>Analysis_code.zip and Mooring_toolbox.zip contain matlab m-files. The code was designed to analysis the changes from the mooring data.</p> <p>Data.zip contains a mooring observation data in Lake Sihwa. The velocity profiles and backscatter intensities were measured with a downward-looking acoustic Doppler current profiler (ADCP) (RDI, 600 kHz WorkHorse Sentinel). The mooring system was designed to measure the near-bed temperature, salinity, and turbidity using conductivity-temperature-depth (CTD) sensors (RBR, XR-420, and Concerto) and an optical backscatter sensor (OBS) (Seapoint Turbidity Meter).</p> <p>Waterlevel.zip has water level data in the ocean and Lake Sihwa.</p> <p> </p> <p> </p>

<p>The published dataset contains the result of the paper titled <strong>Spatial configuration matters when removing windfelled trees to manage bark beetle disturbances in Central European forest landscapes, in Journal of Environmental Management.</strong></p> <p>Two zip files contain maps in ascii format for the total bark beetle and wind damage over 54 simulation year in our study region in Slovakia under reference climate and different climate change scenarios.
