File describing the metological conditions on Toolik Lake (named the Toolik Lake Climate station), adjacent to the Toolik Field Research Station (68 38'N, 149 36'W). This is a floating climate station and should not be confused with the Toolik Field Station Climate site (TFS Climate Station or Met Station) which is a terrestrial station (located on land). Note that this land station has been called the "Toolik Main Climate Station", and the station on the lake is located where the main lake sampling site is located so it has also been called the Toolik Lake Main Climate Station. Measurements include air temperature, relative humidity, wind speed and direction, and radiation.

The Carbon in Permafrost Experimental Heating Research (CiPEHR) project addresses the following questions: 1) Does ecosystem warming cause a net release of C from the ecosystem to the atmosphere?, 2) Does the decomposition of old C, that comprises the bulk of the soil C pool, influence ecosystem C loss?, and 3) How do winter and summer warming alone, and in combination, affect ecosystem C exchange? We are answering these questions using a combination of field and laboratory experiments to measure ecosystem carbon balance and radiocarbon isotope ratios at a warming experiment located in an upland tundra field site near Healy, Alaska in the foothills of the Alaska Range. This data set provides annual meterological data.
Annual summer single-day measurements of the thermal environment with a bio-meteorological sensor under trees, shade structures, and sun-exposed areas in the Rio Salado Park in Tempe, AZ, USA
We have measured the thermal environment/bio-meteorological conditions under trees, shade structures, and at sun-exposed locations in the Rio Salado Park in Tempe, AZ, USA annually since 2018 on a clear sky, hot, sunny day in June/July to track shade performance of newly planted trees over time. Measurements were taken with a mobile bio-meteorological weather station, known as MaRTy (Middel & Krayenhoff, 2019; DOI: 10.1016/j.scitotenv.2019.06.085). Since the measurement campaign began, some of the trees have died, were removed, or their environment has changed due to external events such as a bridge collapse (2020-07-29).

Non-continous meteorological data from Butternut Key Weather Tower, Florida Bay, Everglades National Park (FCE LTER), April 2001 through August 2013
The following abstract is from Price, R.M., Nuttle, W.K., Cosby, B.J., and Swart, P.K. 2007. Variation and Uncertainty in Evaporation from a Subtropical Estuary: Florida Bay, Estuaries and Coasts. 30(3): 497-506: Variation and uncertainty in estimated evaporation was determined over time and between two locations in Florida Bay, a subtropical estuary. Meteorological data were collected from September 2001 to August 2002 at Rabbit Key and Butternut Key within the Bay. Evaporation was estimated using both vapor flux and energy budget methods. The results were placed into a long-term context using 33 years of temperature and rainfall data collected in south Florida. Evaporation also was estimated from this long-term data using an empirical formula relating evaporation to clear sky solar radiation and air temperature. Evaporation estimates for the 12-mo period ranged from 144 to 175 cm yr21, depending on location and method, with an average of 163 cm yr21 (6 9%). Monthly values ranged from 9.2 to 18.5 cm, with the highest value observed in May, corresponding with the maximum in measured net radiation. Uncertainty estimates derived from measurement errors in the data were as much as 10%, and were large enough to obscure differences in evaporation between the two sites. Differences among all estimates for any month indicate the overall uncertainty in monthly evaporation, and ranged from 9% to 26%. Over a 33-yr period (1970 to 2002), estimated annual evaporation from Florida Bay ranged from 148 to 181 cm yr21, with an average of 166 cm yr21. Rainfall was consistently lower in Florida Bay than evaporation, with a long-term average of 106 cm yr21. Rainfall considered alone was uncorrelated with evaporation at both monthly and annual time scales; when the seasonal variation in clear sky radiation was also taken into account both net radiation and evaporation were significantly suppressed in months with high rainfall.

This dataset contains 5-minute summary data from the MNORT wind tower station. Average air temperature, wind speed and wind direction at multiple heights are measured and calculated based on 1-second scan rate of all sensors located at an automated meteorological station installed at Jornada LTER MNORT site (different than the M-NORT NPP site). Wind speed is measured at 135 cm, 230 cm, 345cm, 705cm, and 1515 cm, wind direction at 250cm and 850cm, and air temperature at 80cm and 1440cm. This climate station is operated by the Jornada LTER Program and this is an ongoing dataset. CAUTION: little to no QA/QC has been applied to this dataset and these data are therefore provisional.
