Water level data from the Tarland Burn, Aberdeenshire, Scotland, 1st January - 31st December 2023

<p>Water level was recorded, in hourly intervals, at four locations on the Tarland Burn, &nbsp;Aberdeenshire, Scotland from 1st January to 31st december 2023.&nbsp;&nbsp;Measurements were made using pressure transducers and logging equipment supplied by Campbell Scientific. Station latitude and longitude are provided. Blank cells in the data sheets are due to instrument failure or temporary loss of power.</p> <p>This data can be used to extend the series of previously published data from 2013- 2022 (https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.7777653) which also included rating curves derived using a Valeport electromagnetic flow meter (801 model), or ADCP "boat" at higher water level.</p> <p>This work has been funded by the Scottish Government as part of the strategic research programme and provides empirical data which underpins research on natural flood management, water quality, and biodiversity.</p>

Jula lexicographic data collected during January 2019

<p>Rough lexicographic&nbsp;data&nbsp;for 62 Jula lexemes&nbsp;collected during January&nbsp;2019&nbsp;in western Burkina Faso by Coleman Donaldson in the following formats:</p> <p>1) a .lift file (of the&nbsp;<a href="https://code.google.com/archive/p/lift-standard/">LIFT XML schema</a>) exported from LexiquePro.</p> <p>2) a .txt file in Toolbox format</p> <p>3) a .pdf file of a formatted export from LexiquePro</p> <p>4) a .rtf file of an export from LexiquePro.</p> <p>5) a .pdf file of a formatted export from Toolbox&#39;s MDF tool.</p> <p>6) a .rtf file of an export from Toolbox&#39;s MDF tool.</p> <p>I follow the de facto official phonemic orthography synthesizing the various national standards that linguists use while also marking tone. Grave diacritics mark low tones and acute diacritics mark high tones. An unmarked vowel carries the same tone as the last marked vowel before it. Lexemes without any diacritics means I am unsure of the tone.</p>

Olodum Full Concert on January 22, 2023 at Quincas Berro d'Água, Pelourinho, Salvador, Bahia, Brazil

<p>Led by Mestre Memeu (Bartolomeu Nunes Pereira), this Olodum concert took place from about 4:00PM-8:00PM at Largo Quincas Berro D'&Aacute;gua in the Pelourinho, Salvador, Bahia, Brazil. I frequently reference this concert in my dissertation "Drumming in the Breaks of Blocos Afro: Ancestrality and Black Resistance in Salvador, Brazil." Specifically, I transcribe and analyze several of the breaks (breques). In the video, I tried to signal each moment I witnessed a percussion break (or drum cadence, in Western terms) by including a subtitle of the sequential number of breaks performed throughout the performance (i.e. break #55). Breaks typically veer away from Olodum's primary rhythms of samba-reggae, ritmo da avenida, merengue, and suingue to play a virtuosic break crafted for each song--or standard breaks used for many songs--and typically last between 2-8 measures. The total number of these breaks I witnessed in this 4-hour performance. In this concert alone, I counted 237 breaks. Compared to other ensemble types of Olodum, this concert takes place between percussionists and vocals only, who L&aacute;zaro Ara&uacute;jo (AKA Lazinho, an original founding member of Olodum) and Lucas DiFiori.&nbsp;</p>

Supraglacial lakes and channels in West Antarctica and Antarctic Peninsula during January 2017 - Landsat-8 Group 2

<p>The maximum extent of supraglacial lakes and channels in West Antarctica and the Antarctic Peninsula in January 2017 was produced by a Dual-NDWI (Normalised Difference Water Index) approach with thresholds. &gt;2000 individual scenes were captured by Sentinel-2 (S2) and Landsat-8 (L8) satellite sensors during the entire month of January 2017.&nbsp;&nbsp;To obtain maximum coverage on the cloudy Antarctic Peninsula, the time period is extended to February 10, 2017 over this region.</p> <p>This&nbsp;dataset consists of the maximum extent of supraglacial hydrological activity during January 2017 and detailed 10,478 supraglacial features (10,223 lakes and 255 channels), with cumulative area 119.4 square km in total on the West Antarctic ice sheet and Antarctic Peninsula. In addition to the final product, the supraglacial hydrological features from both sensors (23,389 polygons for S2 and 17,571 polygons for L8) overlapping the final map are included. The supraglacial lake and channel polygons are available as digital GIS, Geographic Information System, shapefiles (.shp) and GeoJSON files as well as Google Earth format (.kmz). The lake and channel dataset will be valuable as training data for pixel-based or object-based approaches to map large-scale features automatically using machine learning. This dataset can also provide an a-priori lake distribution for studies incorporating synthetic-aperture radar, SAR and other sensors and platforms.</p> <p>Alongside Landsat-8 Group 1, this dataset provides the&nbsp;17,571 polygons from&nbsp;L8 imagery.</p>
