Data used in the paper "The minimum scale of grooving on a recently ruptured limestone fault"

There are two types of data presented: matlab structures and xyz files.

We include two matlab structures of the results of our analysis, one for the Mt. Vettoretto fault and one for the Corona Heights fault. They have the following 9 fields:

div_x: The length scale where parallel and perpendicular roughness in respect to the striations converge. This is also known as the minimum scale of grooving or the critical length scale, Lc.

div_y: The RMS height where parallel and perpendicular roughness converge.

L1 and L2: The length scales in parallel and perpendicular directions.

H1 and H2: The RMS height along the length scales in parallel and perpendicular directions. If L1 is in the parallel direction then H1 is also in the parallel direction.

Z: The gridded topographic map that is used in the Monte Carlos RMS analysis to then calculate L1, L2, H1, and H2.

dx: The spacing of the gridded data points in the gridded topographic map.

FileName: The name of the original xyz scan for the Mt. Vettoretto data. For the Corona Heights data, the name of the files given to me by T. Candela.

The xyz files presented are white light interferometer and structure from motion scans of the Mt. Vettoretto fault surface. They correspond to the "FileName" field of the MtVet_MinScaleRMS.mat file.

Data from the manuscript "Is the 2010 Maule Earthquake a repeating earthquake? Rupture heterogeneities and their impact on ground motion, landslides and cortical faults in Subduction Zones. "

MATLAB data and codes used for the manuscript are provided. These calculate ground motion from a heterogeneous rupture, similar to the approach used in Venegas-Aravena (2024). The rupture simulation can be performed using the 'HE_B rupture.mat' code, which implements the Heterogeneous Energy-Based method (Venegas-Aravena, 2023) to model the 2010 Mw 8.8 Maule earthquake. The code for generating ground motion, 'Displacement_field.mat', calculates near-, intermediate-, and far-field displacement fields following equations 4.32 in Aki and Richards (2002) as a summation of point sources from the earthquake rupture. The subduction geometry is included in this dataset. The code can compute displacements in rho, theta, phi, direction and in east-west, north-south, and dip directions after following code instructions. Additionally, it includes a feature to add Rayleigh waves, although this was not utilized in the 2010 Maule earthquake manuscript.

A video showing the data can be seen here: https://youtu.be/6Zf3fgb6AGc.

References

Aki and Richards (2002): QUANTITATIVE SEISMOLOGY, SECOND EDITION.

Venegas-Aravena (2023): https://doi.org/10.1515/geo-2022-0522.

Venegas-Aravena (2024): https://doi.org/10.1007/s11069-024-06651-9.

Intermolecular hydrogen bond ruptured by graphite with different lamellar number

Intermolecular hydrogen bonds are formed through the electrostatic attraction between the hydrogen nucleus on a strong polar bond and high electronegative atom with an unshared pair of electrons and a partial negative charge. It affects the physical and chemical properties of substances. Based on this, we presented a physical method to modulate intermolecular hydrogen bonds for not changing the physical-chemical properties of materials. The graphite and graphene is added into the glycerol respectively by being used as a viscosity reducer in this paper. The samples are characterized by Raman and 1H-NMR. Results show that intermolecular hydrogen bonds are adjusted by graphite or graphene. The rheology of glycerol is reduced to varying degrees. TEM and computer simulation show that the spatial limiting action of graphite or graphene is the main cause of breaking the intermolecular hydrogen bond network structure. We hope this work reveals the potential interplay between nanomaterials and hydroxyl liquids, which will contribute to the field of solid-liquid coupling lubrication.
