Data from: Carbon burial in Cornell's experimental ponds
<p>Ponds are globally abundant and important to the global carbon cycle. While ponds have large greenhouse gas emissions, they may also sequester large amounts of carbon in their sediments. Here, we studied carbon burial rates in 22 experimental ponds without watersheds, where carbon sequestration comes solely from autochthonous primary production. The ponds were built identically in 1964 at Cornell University, and have since experienced different management strategies. This dataset includes two files: (1) spreadsheets related to carbon burial calculations (e.g., measuring sediment thickness, estimates of loss-on-ignition, and carbon burial rates), and (2) spreadsheets of historical management practices for our study ponds. These datasets accompany a manuscript accepted at Limnology and Oceanography Letters.</p>

Crouched burial
Crouched human burial found in Kildare Town, Ireland. From a late medieval cemetery excavated in 2014. This could be considered a "deviant burial" in contradiction to the common burial rite of the time (supine, extended, head to west). This 3D model was recreated from old site photos taken in 2014 using Meshroom 2019. Photos were general record shots taken from different angles. It was not the original intention to use them for photogrammetry but the resulting model is quite clean. Original mesh cleaned using Cloudcompare & Meshlab. Source: Objaverse 1.0 / Sketchfab

Two bronze age (from 1500 BC to 500 BC in Finland) burial cairns in Kaunismäki, Harjavalta, Finland. There are total of 12 tombs in same site (multiple tombs has been destroyed). The biggest cairn tomb width is 22 meters and height 3,5 – 4 meters. There is also a bronze age dwelling site in same area near the cairns with remains (underground) of a house of a size of 7 x 4 meters. Box Burial Mod1
A square, stone-lined feature found in trench 2 east, excavated on September 18th, 2021. When the feature was originally uncovered in 2019, there was an overlying, fully articulated burial, with head to mid-torso within the bounds of the box. Marsh vegetation burial experiment biomass data, August 2014
End of year biomass harvested from marsh vegetation burial experiment on Hog Island. Experiment was set up at two sites - one in the high marsh and one in the low marsh. Within each site, a 6x6 array of mesocosms was established with 6 replicates of 6 different burial treatments (0, 5, 10, 15, 30, and 60 centimeters). After one growing season, the biomass was clipped from the top of each mesocosm, the mesocosm and sand layer was removed, and the vegetation within the sand layer was clipped at the marsh surface. This biomass was then returned to the lab, washed, dried to a constant weight, and weighed.
