GITM simulations about the impact of flow bursts on I/T

Global Ionosphere-Thermosphere model (GITM), a non-hydrostatic model with flexible resolution, has been utilized to evaluate the influence of flow bursts, one type of localized strong enhancements of forcing on the global dynamics of the upper atmosphere. Specifically, three idealized configurations of flow burst have been examined, one flow burst with the typical spatial scale seen in the auroral zone, two neighboring flow bursts with the same spatial scale, and one flow burst with doubled spatial scale. The comparison between the cases with and without the flow burst illustrates the impact of flow burst.

Systematic assessment of burst impurity in confocal-based single-molecule fluorescence detection using Brownian motion simulations - raw figures of all quantities from all simulations

We performed many simulations in many conditions, calculated many quantities and reported them in the main paper. However, the journal manuscript did not place for so many figures. Nevertheless, the reported values of all simulations rely on the results that were also summarized in the figures. These figures were produced by the Jupyter notebooks analyzing the simulation results.

Each figure file has the following nomenclature:

TypeOfFigure_concentration_diffusionCoefficient_1or2pop_simulationDuration(long)_Type of PSF.

For example:

molecule_positions_pure_and_impure_bursts_varying_F_C62_D22_5_psfNumeric - report on the molecular position histograms of pure and impure bursts for varying F values, in the simulation with C=62pM, D=22.5 um^2/s, a NUmerical PSF model and 60s duration of simulation (if nothing appears, it was 60s; if the word long appears, it was 180s).

Figure 2 in An underground burst of diversity - a new look at the phylogeny and taxonomy of the genus Talpa Linnaeus, 1758 (Mammalia: Talpidae) as revealed by nuclear and mitochondrial genes

Figure 2. The Bayesian phylogeny of the genus Talpa as inferred from a concatenated alignment of four nuclear genes. Values above the branches correspond to Bayesian posterior probabilities (BPP) in MrBayes and bootstrap support (1000 pseudoreplicates) in ML and MP analyses, correspondingly. Representatives of the genera Euroscaptor, Mogera, Parascaptor, Scaptochirus and tribes Desmanini, Scalopini and Condylurini are used as outgroups.

Neural effects of continuous theta-burst stimulation in macaque parietal neurons

Theta-burst transcranial magnetic stimulation (TBS) has become a standard non-invasive technique to induce offline changes in cortical excitability in human volunteers. Yet, TBS suffers from a high variability across subjects. A better knowledge about how TBS affects neural activity in vivo could uncover its mechanisms of action and ultimately allow its mainstream use in basic science and clinical applications. To address this issue, we applied continuous TBS (cTBS, 300 pulses) in awake behaving rhesus monkeys and quantified its after-effects on neuronal activity. Overall, we observed a pronounced, long-lasting and highly reproducible reduction in neuronal excitability after cTBS in individual parietal neurons, with some neurons also exhibiting periods of hyperexcitability during the recovery phase. These results provide the first experimental evidence of the effects of cTBS on single neurons in awake behaving monkeys, shedding new light on the reasons underlying cTBS variability.
