Greek Folk Music Dataset
<p>This work contains a dataset of Greek Aegean folk music tunes focusing on two prominent dances, syrtos and balos, and associated feature-pattern analysis.</p> <p><strong>About the Dataset</strong></p> <p>This dataset was developed to support research in computational musicology, providing access to Greek musical heritage through manually transcribed MIDI scores, aligned lyrics, and rich metadata.</p> <p><strong>Methodology</strong></p> <p>Through pattern analysis (using a tailored version of [PatMinr](https://github.com/olivierlar/miningsuite)) and feature extraction, we examine both shared melodic structures and unique characteristics of each dance, with some examples reflecting traces of oral transmission. While metadata accompanies the collection to support organization and context, our primary emphasis is on the musical and lyrical content.</p> <p><strong>Results</strong></p> <p>Our analysis revealed that balos and syrtos dances share strong tonal, rhythmic, and melodic similarities, often functioning as a performance pair, though they differ in tonal emphases, melodic tendencies, and lyrical themes. Both dances exhibit substantial shared melodic-rhythmic patterns, reflecting common musical vocabulary across the Aegean, though each retains distinct motif preferences and regional variations influenced by oral transmission.</p> <p><strong>Usage</strong></p> <p>Researchers and enthusiasts interested in Greek folk music can utilize this dataset to study and explore the intricate musical nuances prevalent within folk traditions.</p> <p><strong>Analysis </strong></p> <p>Note: You will need to use MATLAB with <a href="https://www.jyu.fi/hytk/fi/laitokset/mutku/en/research/materials/mirtoolbox">MIRToolbox</a> and <a href="https://github.com/miditoolbox/miditoolbox">MIDIToolbox</a>. <br>For code and full analysis pipelines, visit our <a href="https://github.com/MuTecEn/Multimodal-Greek-Folk-Music-Dataset">GitHub repository</a>.</p>

Greek temple
I was assigned an outsource document to create a greek temple that must have at least 3 columns, a roof with ancient greek symbols on it with a transparent effect and at least one treasured item on the table inside. I also had to make this within 2500 tris, on a 2048 x 2048 pixel texture space and I was allowed to use two separate UV spaces if I needed to (which I did). I modelled the temple and unwrapped it in Blender, assigning two materials to the one overall model to accomodate for two UV space and I textured the model in substance painter. I had fun making this and I hope the recipient is pleased with this model too, you may inspect the model as well as the textures and download it for free. Provide any feedback you can think of too. Thank you! Source: Objaverse 1.0 / Sketchfab

A binding model of Greek Papyrus 28
Peri palmon mantike (Divination by twitches) Egypt, 4th century AD Greek Papyrus 28 This manuscript is composed of four papyrus sheets, each with four pages of text (two on each side). The four sheets were put one on top of the other, folded and then stitched together. There are remains of sewing thread on some sheets. The subject of the book is prognostications to be derived from involuntary movement (quivering or twitching) of various parts of the body. That such movements portended certain events was a popular belief which finds expression in both Greek and Latin classical literature. The various members of the body are taken one after the other, starting from the head downwards, and the omens associated with their movement are concisely enumerated. After the prognostications, directions are given to pray to or propitiate appropriate divinities. Source: Objaverse 1.0 / Sketchfab
Greek, hand-vase clasping a lekythos
Culture: [Greek](http://vocab.getty.edu/page/aat/300020072) Material: Ceramic Dims: H 9.5cm Accession No: HCM 233 Current Location: [The Hunt Museum](https://www.huntmuseum.com/) [Limerick](https://www.geonames.org/7778675/limerick-city.html) This fourth or fifth-century vase originates in a group known as 'plastic vases', including human figures, body parts, animals and birds. A hand clasps a lekythos, the mouth, neck and part of the body are visible. The whiteness and daintiness of the worn hand indicate a woman. The thumb is over the first two fingers and there is a gap between the small and third fingers. The hand vase rests on an oval base. This personal object was for use by a woman or in a her grave. It possibly contained perfumed oil. Many like this come from eastern Greece, particularly Rhodes, but also Corinth, Athens and the south Italian Greek colonies. [More](https://tinyurl.com/yck9umtx). Greek Memorial, TSC, Dhaka
Greeks were the last among European merchants to come to Bangladesh. They came to Bangladesh around the 18th century. They constructed a memorial in Dhaka. It was constructed for the memory of the Greek merchants who died while in Dhaka. The Greek memorial was built around AD 1900, and appears like an ancient Greek temple; it is a small yellow structure on land owned by the Greek Community, which flourished in Dhaka in the 19th century. It is inside the Teachers and Students Training Centre (TSC) of the University of Dhaka and stands alone on the main Shahbagh Avenue and faces Ramna Race Course. To its southern side is the Atomic Research Centre and to its north a Student's Centre. It is considered to be the only such structure extant outside Greece. > This is a part of the Project Earth Initiative. Source: Objaverse 1.0 / Sketchfab
