Artifacts supplementing the EuroUSEC '22 paper "Assessing Real-World Applicability of Redesigned Developer Documentation for Certificate Validation Errors"

This upload supplements the conference EuroUSEC 2022 submission by providing the full questionnaire, anonymized dataset and all performed analyses presented in the paper specified below.

Title: Assessing Real-World Applicability of Redesigned Developer Documentation for Certificate Validation Errors

Authors: Martin Ukrop, Michaela Balážová, Pavol Žáčik, Eric Vincent Valčík, Vashek Matyas

Paper details: https://crocs.fi.muni.cz/public/papers/eurousec2022

Paper abstract: We face certificate validation errors commonly, yet the related tools and documentation had been shown to have very poor usability. Previous research suggests that just improving the error messages and corresponding documentation can have significantly positive effects. Our work aims at increasing the usability of certificate validation by 1) redesigning the API error messages and the corresponding documentation, and 2) validating the real-world applicability of the redesign by investigating the opinions of 180 IT professionals. We focus on the perceived obstacles, desired ideal form and overall satisfaction. The redesigned documentation exhibits a reliable significant decrease in perceived incompleteness, with a small amount of perceived bloat and tangle. The redesigned documentation, now published on a dedicated website, is preferred by 89% of our study participants.

The artifacts accompanying this paper contain three major parts:

The questionnaire used in the main study (described in Sections 3.1 and 3.2 of the paper and mostly present in Appendices A and B of the paper).

The anonymized dataset (multiple formats) of all valid questionnaire answers and qualitative coding performed. Analyses of this dataset are the core of the paper and are present in subsection 3.4 and all parts of Sections 4 and 5.

The set of analyses files (IBM SPSS scripts and outputs) producing all statistical results presented in the paper are included.

More details about the artifacts can be found in the README file in the artifacts archive.

DL-RMD: A geophysically constrained electromagnetic resistivity model database for deep learning applications (Dataset)

Deep learning algorithms have shown incredible potential in many applications. The success of these data-hungry methods is largely associated with the availability of large-scale data sets, as millions of observations are often required to achieve acceptable performance levels. Recently, there has been an increased interest in applying deep learning methods to geophysical applications where electromagnetic methods are used to map the subsurface geology by observing variations in the electrical resistivity of the subsurface materials. To date, there are no standardized datasets for electromagnetic methods, which hinders the progress, evaluation, benchmarking, and evolution of deep learning algorithms due to data inconsistency. Therefore, we present a large-scale electrical resistivity model database of a wide variety of geologically plausible and geophysically resolvable subsurface structures for the commonly deployed ground-based and airborne electromagnetic systems. The presented database can potentially be used to build surrogate models of well-known processes and aid in labour intensive tasks. The geophysically constrained property of this database will not only achieve enhanced performance and improved generalization but, more importantly, it will incorporate consistency and credibility in deep learning models. We urge the geophysical community interested in deep learning for electromagnetic methods to utilize the presented database.

Analysis of variance for the effect of insecticides as a contact and systemic applications and Analysis of variance for the effect of insecticides tested under field condition

Analysis of variance for the effect of insecticides as a contact and systemic applications and Analysis of variance for the effect of insecticides tested under field condition

The mean number of H. armigera live larvae were transformed into square-root values before the statistical analysis. The one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) was used for both transformed values under laboratory conditions. Means were compared using Fisher’s least significant differences (LSD) test at P< 0.05. Under field conditions, a two-way repeated measures analysis of variance (ANOVA) was used to determine the effects of insecticides and exposure time. The computations were carried out using GenStat (19th Edition, VSN International, UK).

Analytical expressions for thermophysical properties of solid and liquid aluminum relevant for fusion applications

Aluminum is being actively employed by the fusion community as a non-toxic chemical proxy to beryllium, since both materials form covalent hydrides, high-melting oxides as well as alloys with tungsten [1]. Characteristic examples include studies of in situ cleaning of diagnostic first mirrors [2,3], investigations of hydrogen retention or deposited layer formation [4,5] and experiments dedicated to sputtered material transport in diagnostic ducts [6]. Aluminum has also served as a surrogate for beryllium in high heat flux tests, given its low melting point and low mass density. Characteristic examples concern experiments on the interaction of adhered Al dust with transient and stationary plasmas carried out in Magnum-PSI [7] and the controlled melting of Al blocks exposed in the DIII-D divertor under steady L-mode discharge conditions using the DiMES manipulator [8]. In order to reliably model the macroscopic metallic melt motion realized in the sloped geometry Al L-mode exposures in the DIII-D divertor, the material library of the MEMENTO melt dynamics code, that previously concerned tungsten [9], beryllium [10], niobium [11,12] and iridium [11,12], has to be extended to aluminum.

Reliable experimental data have been analyzed for the specific isobaric heat capacity, electrical resistivity, thermal conductivity, mass density, vapor pressure, latent heat of fusion, enthalpy of vaporization, work function, total hemispherical emissivity and absolute thermoelectric power from the room temperature up to the normal boiling point of aluminum as well as for the surface tension and the dynamic viscosity across the liquid state. Analytical expressions are recommended for the temperature dependence of these thermophysical properties, which involve high temperature extrapolations given the absence of extended liquid aluminum measurements. The analytical expressions, the details of their construction and the main references are included in the accompanying pdf.

[1] L. Marot, C. Linsmeier, B. Eren, L. Moser, R.
