Terracotta Model of a Warship

This [Hellenistic terrcotta model of a warship](https://webapps.fitzmuseum.cam.ac.uk/explorer/index.php?oid=89324) from Cyprus dates from 300 B.C. — 201 B.C. Boat models were often found near the ancient city of Amathus on the south coast of Cyprus, usually found at the bottom of the sea but also in tombs and sanctuaries as votive offerings. This boat model is one of the most important known from Cyprus. It has a flat base with thick uprights supporting a deck positioned above the gunwale. At the front there is a preserved ram, with a possible 'eye' painted in black on the prow. The boat is on display at the [Cypriot Gallery in the Fitzwilliam Museum](https://www.fitzmuseum.cam.ac.uk/collections/cyprus). 3D modelled as part of #CEEF3D [Being An Islander Museum in a Box](https://creative-economy.fitzmuseum.cam.ac.uk/projects/project-four-miab-mediterranean/).
