Molecular dynamics simulations data of Caspase-3 enzyme with pentapeptide ligand DEVDG and its chiral mutant DEVdG having D-Asp at fourth position

Amino acids in proteins are maintained in one specific L chiral form in the body. D-amino acids are not normally incorporated into proteins and their accumulation has been associated with several conditions including schizophrenia, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, and other age-related disorders. However, the mechanisms by which the accumulation of D-amino-acids in proteins may lead to pathophysiological consequences remain poorly understood. In this work, we studied a model protease system, caspase-3 that specifically hydrolyses the 4’–5’ peptide bond of the pentapeptide substrate DEVDG. Through extensive molecular dynamics simulations, free energy calculations and distance maps, we reveal that caspase-3 naturally rejects the pentapeptide containing D-Asp substrate, DEVdG and prevents catalytic activity by caspase. The importance of this chiral discriminating capacity is evident from chiral-selective in vivo experimental assays to detect caspase-bound D-Asp in Drosophila where altering the chiral balance created impaired caspase activity and impaired apoptosis, increased tumour formation, and premature death. The modelling data reveals the molecular level charge balancing that enforces the chiral recognition necessary to maintain homeostasis across the cell, tissue, and organ level.

I/Q measurements with 5G SRS signals and receiver 4-port 3D Vector Antenna for positioning studies

This dataset contains the I\Q data of four received signals from a 4-port 3D Vector Antenna (3D VA) as well as *fig and *png examples of the angle of arrival (AoA)/azimuth angle estimation using the MUSIC algorithm based on the raw data. The data was collected from four ports (p5, p6, p7, p8) of a 3D VA provided by ENAC. A single Yagi antenna has been used as a transmitter at 2.1GHz carrier frequency and horizontal polarization.

The dataset of five chloroplast regions used in: A contribution to Gymnosphaera (Cyatheaceae) in mainland Asia: Two new species, reinstatement of Cyathea bonii, and their phylogenetic positions

Gymnosphaera represents a minor lineage within the scaly tree-fern family Cyatheaceae. Tropical and subtropical mainland Asia is a main distribution area of Gymnosphaera. However, the species diversity of Gymnosphaera is currently incompletely known in mainland Asia due to lacking critical revision. Here we present new findings of species diversity and their relationships with mainland Asian Gymnosphaera based on field surveys, the examination of herbarium collections, and phylogenetic analyses of sequences of multiple chloroplast and nuclear regions. Two new species, G. saxicola from southwestern Yunnan and G. bachmaensis from central Vietnam are established. Traditionally recognized G. podophylla is revealed to be a complex, from which G. bonii is reinstated as a distinct species. Our phylogenetic analyses identified four clades within Gymnosphaera in mainland Asia: G. denticulata clade, G. gigantea clade, G. podophylla clade, and G. salletii clade. The new species G. saxicola, which is special for its saxicolous habitat, was resolved as a sister to G. austroyunnanensis in the G. salletii clade. The newly discovered G. bachmaensis, which is characterized especially by the spathulate frond, was positioned in the G. podophylla clade, being sister to G. bonii. The mountainous region from south-central Vietnam northwards to western Yunnan is a diverse center of Gymnosphaera and more species of this group are probably to be discovered there.

Positive interactions between corals and damselfish increase coral resistance to temperature stress

By the century's end, many tropical seas will reach temperatures exceeding most coral species' thermal tolerance on an annual basis. The persistence of corals in these regions will therefore depend on their abilities to tolerate recurrent thermal stress. Although ecologists have long recognized that positive interspecific interactions can ameliorate environmental stress to expand the realized niche of plants and animals, coral bleaching studies have largely overlooked how interactions with community members outside of the coral holobiont shape the bleaching response. Here, we subjected a common coral, Pocillopora grandis, to 10 days of thermal stress in aquaria with- and without the damselfish Dascyllus flavicaudus (yellowtail dascyllus), which commonly shelter within these corals, to examine how interactions with damselfish impacted coral thermal tolerance. Corals often benefit from nutrients excreted by animals they interact with and prior to thermal stress, corals grown with damselfish showed improved photophysiology (Fv/Fm) and developed larger endosymbiont populations. When exposed to thermal stress, corals with fish performed as well as corals maintained at ambient temperatures without fish. In contrast, corals exposed to thermal stress without fish experienced photophysiological impairment, a more than 50% decline in endosymbiont density, and a 36% decrease in tissue protein content. By the end of the experiment, thermal stress caused average calcification rates to decrease by over 80% when damselfish were absent but increase nearly 25% when damselfish were present. Our study indicates that damselfish-derived nutrients can increase coral thermal tolerance and are consistent with the Stress Gradient Hypothesis, which predicts that positive interactions become increasingly important for structuring communities as environmental stress increases. Because warming of just a few degrees can exceed corals' temperature tolerance to trigger bleaching and mortality, positive interactions could play a critical role in maintaining some coral species in warming regions until climate change is aggressively addressed.

Spanish Civil War Mountain Fighting Position

This is a detailed model of a republican position. I uploaded a similar one that we did it with a drone (https://skfb.ly/6Xnqq) and before working in it. Now you can learn more info about this outpost checking the annotations. After a brief survey, excavation and work in archives, we discovered that this position was occupied by a Disciplinary Batallion of the Republican Army. Its members were the condemned by the military tribunals and civilians inmates. The position has secondary importance and, even we registed some artillery craters, shooting was random. The francoist defences were very far away. But we discovered interesting information about the soldiers habits. Their diet (as well as their moral) was very poor, cans of sardines and other fishes, distributed throught the hill, prove it. A little quantity of bones from small mamals were also found. The main use of the ammo was to light fires to warm up in a windy region were temperatures drop below 0ºC. Author: Pablo Gutiérrez de León Source: Objaverse 1.0 / Sketchfab
