SAFARI 2000 SeaWiFS Images for Core Study Sites, 2000-2001
This data set contains Sea-viewing Wide Field-of-view Sensor (SeaWiFS) imagery for the eight core study sites of Mongu, Etosha, Kasangu, Skukuza, Mutoko, Mzola, Nampula, and Ndola. There are two main sets of local area coverage (LAC) data, Level-1 and Level-2 200-km x 200-km image subsets for seven of the sites and 400-km x 400-km image subsets for the Etosha site. The data files presented here were selected from a large collection of SeaWiFS images based on image clarity and lack of clouds. Several hazy days were included as a contrast. The data are provided in HDF format files. The SeaWiFS sensor, launched in late 1997, collects data in 8 bands ranging from 402 nm to 885 nm. SeaWiFS data are available at two spatial resolutions, local area coverage (LAC) at 1.1 km and global area coverage (GAC) at 4.5-km resolution. There are many additional images available at the SeaWiFS Web site. More information about this dataset can be found in the companion document, SAFARI 2000 SeaWiFS Site and Regional Imagery Descriptions. The relationship between body image and emotional and cognitive impairment after brain damage: A preliminary study
<p><strong>Introduction: </strong>The image of one's own body derives from experimentation of one's own body pattern. The emotional experience can lead to a real or distorted self-representation. After brain damage, a disorder of body image is frequent. The purpose of this study was to investigate the role of body image following acquired brain injury (ABI).</p> <p><strong>Methods: </strong>Forty-six hospitalized patients were enrolled and subdivided into two groups depending on the etiology of the damage: traumatic or vascular. For each group, we considered their cognitive level and mood. Patients underwent a broad battery of tests to investigate different domains: Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA); Beck's Depression Inventory (BDI-II); Hamilton Rating Scale for Anxiety (HAM-A); Clinical Insight Rating Scale (CIRS); Body Image Scale (BIS); Human Figure Drawing (HFD). The latter was used to assess the implicit body image of each patient.</p> <p><strong>Results: </strong>Both groups showed a significant relationship between BDI-II and BIS. A positive correlation was found between BIS and HAM-A, but only in the traumatic group. We showed a positive correlation between MoCA and HFD. In addition, we observed some subitems of MoCA as predictive variables in HFD, which differ in the two groups. In a traumatic group, the visuospatial domain is predictive in HFD, as well as age of patients' and education. In the vascular groups, orientation, naming, abstraction, and language domains are instead predictive.</p> <p><strong>Conclusions: </strong>The results confirm the crucial role of the cognitive level and mood on self-perception.</p>

AI-based imaging flow cytometry approach to study erythrophagocytosis
<p><span>Erythrophagocytosis is a process consisting of recognition, engulfment and digestion by phagocytes of antibody-coated or damaged erythrocytes. Understanding the dynamics that are behind erythrophagocytosis is fundamental to comprehend this cellular process under specific circumstances. Several techniques have been used to study phagocytosis. Among these, an interesting approach is the use of Imaging Flow Cytometry (IFC) to distinguish internalization and binding of cells or particles. However, this method requires laborious analysis. Here, we introduce a novel approach to analyze the phagocytosis process by applaying Amnis Artificial Intelligence (AAI) to IFC. Our study demonstrates that this approach is<span> </span>highly suitable to study erythrophagocytosis, categorizing internalized, bound and non-bound erythrocytes. Validation experiments showed that our pipeline performs with high accuracy and reproducibility.</span></p>
