AWS 7 coin-operated multi-zone payphone
The item presented here is a public payphone, which allowed calls to be made once the caller had paid by inserting a coin or token in the appropriate slot. The automation inside the device tested the physical properties of the inserted object, such as its dimensions, weight, and magnetic properties. If they were within the required ranges, appropriate for the required means of payment, the device would allow the call to be made or continued. Payphones manufactured by the Telkom-Telos enterprise in Kraków were commonplace on Polish streets from the early 1960s. The AWS 7 model is the last design of this type. Payphones used in the 1990s used tokens. This was because of the high inflation and depreciation of money, which led to the temporary withdrawal of coins from circulation. Coins were not reintroduced until the redenomination of the zloty in 1995. Manufacturer: Telkom-Telos, Kraków, 1997 Inv. no.: MIM 319/VIII-13 Model prepared on the basis of photogrammetric measurements Licence: CC BY-NC-SA Source: Objaverse 1.0 / Sketchfab
Historical GC-Net AWS photo archive

This repository contains a compilation of photos from the historical GC-Net AWS deployed by K. Steffen and his team between 1990 and 2022.

Purpose:

- repository of photos giving visual evidence of e.g., the relative instrument placement, how much the station is leaning, etc.

- It's ideal to have photos from different vantages and before/after maintenance. So, 4 pix per site / year is a nice-to-have.

Structure:

The dataset is divided in the following folders:

- curated_archive_of_GC-Net_AWS folder.

This is the most important folder. It contains a currated selection of pictures from each AWS, if possible pre and post maintenance, and if useful, from differet angles. Importance is given to the visibility of the general geometry of the station. The pictures are *cropped* and *renamed* to increase ease of use. Nameing convention is \"NAME YYYY MM DDx pre/post via photographer.format\", e.g. \"CP1 1998 05 30a pre via J Box.jpg\".

- all pictures GC-Net folder:

This folder contains all the available pictures from the AWS. No removal of redundant pictures, no cropping, no renaming. Pictures are organized in year and station specific folders.

- GC-Net_photo_grid.png and GC-Net_photo_grid_minor_stations.png which give an overview of the available photos.

Contributors:

- J. Box (main curator), K. Steffen, D. Houtz, B. Vandecrux, A. Heilig, H. Machguth, Dan McGrath

DC-8 Meteorological and Navigation Data CPEX-AW V1
The DC-8 Meteorological and Navigation Data CPEX-AW dataset is a subset of airborne measurements that include GPS positioning and trajectory data, aircraft orientation, and atmospheric state measurements of temperature, pressure, water vapor, and horizontal winds. These measurements were taken from the NASA DC-8 aircraft during the Convective Processes Experiment – Aerosols & Winds (CPEX-AW) field campaign. CPEX-AW was a joint effort between the US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and the European Space Agency (ESA) with the primary goal of conducting a post-launch calibration and validation activities of the Atmospheric Dynamics Mission-Aeolus (ADM-AEOLUS) Earth observation wind Lidar satellite in St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands. Data are available from August 17, 2021 through September 4, 2021 in ASCII format.
Airborne Precipitation Radar 3rd Generation (APR-3) CPEX-AW V1
The Airborne Precipitation Radar 3rd Generation (APR-3) CPEX-AW dataset consists of radar reflectivity, Doppler velocity for all bands, linear depolarization ratio Ku-band, and normalized radar cross section measurements at Ka- and Ku- bands data collected by the APR-3 onboard the NASA DC-8 aircraft. These data were gathered during the Convective Processes Experiment – Aerosols & Winds (CPEX-AW) field campaign. Croix. These data files are available from August 20, 2021 through September 4, 2021 in a MatLab file, with associated browse files in JPEG format.
