SOIL-WATERGRIDS v1, mapping dynamic changes in soil moisture and depth of water table from 1970 to 2014, dataset and modelling
<p>SOIL-WATERGRIDS is a comprehensive data product of the monthly estimates of volumetric soil water content at three depths within the root zone and the depth of the water table globally gridded at a resolution of 0.25x025 degree per grid cell from 1970 to 2014. The SOIL-WATERGRIDS data product also provides the full-scale global model (BRTSim, https://sites.google.com/site/thebrtsimproject/home) that allows third party users to assess the entire volumetric soil water content and water table dynamics from land surface to 50 m depth. </p> <p>This package includes a Technical Documentation with the details about the use of the data product.</p>

Development of a global dataset of Wetland Area and Dynamics for Methane Modeling (WAD2M)
<p>Seasonal and interannual variations in global wetland area is a strong driver of fluctuations in global methane (CH4) emissions. Current maps of global wetland extent vary with wetland definition, causing substantial disagreement and large uncertainty in estimates of wetland methane emissions. To reconcile these differences for large-scale wetland CH4 modeling, we developed a global Wetland Area and Dynamics for Methane Modeling (WAD2M) dataset at ~25 km resolution at equator (0.25 arc-degree) at monthly time-step for 2000-2018. WAD2M combines a time series of surface inundation based on active and passive microwave remote sensing at coarse resolution (~25 km) with six static datasets that discriminate inland waters, agriculture, shoreline, and non-inundated wetlands. We exclude all permanent water bodies (e.g. lakes, ponds, rivers, and reservoirs), coastal wetlands (e.g., mangroves and seagrasses), and rice paddies to only represent spatiotemporal patterns of inundated and non-inundated vegetated wetlands. Globally, WAD2M estimates the long-term maximum wetland area at 13.0 million km2 (Mkm2), which can be separated into three categories: mean annual minimum of inundated and non-inundated wetlands at 3.5 Mkm2, seasonally inundated wetlands at 4.0 Mkm2 (mean annual maximum minus mean annual minimum), and intermittently inundated wetlands at 5.5 Mkm2 (long-term maximum minus mean annual maximum). WAD2M has good spatial agreements with independent wetland inventories for major wetland complexes, i.e., the Amazon Lowland Basin and West Siberian Lowlands, with high Cohen’s kappa coefficient of 0.54 and 0.70 respectively among multiple wetlands products. By evaluating the temporal variation of WAD2M against modeled prognostic inundation (i.e., TOPMODEL) and satellite observations of inundation and soil moisture, we show that it adequately represents interannual variation as well as the effect of El Niño-Southern Oscillation on global wetland extent. This wetland extent dataset will improve estimates of wetland CH4 fluxes for global-scale land surface modeling. </p> <p> </p> <p>Update: Oct.08.2021</p> <p>Documentation for WAD2M Version 2.0 can be found at <a href="https://drive.google.com/file/d/1adoAnuqu6uBWnTYKI8u_S4OAQSdgOtd6/view?usp=sharing">WAD2M_V2_update</a></p>
dataset for bioRxiv preprint titled 'Evolution of drug resistance drives progressive destabilizations in functionally conserved molecular dynamics of the flap region of the HIV-1 protease'
<p>This data supports the Figures in the preprint titled</p> <p><strong>Evolution of drug resistance drives progressive destabilizations in functionally conserved molecular dynamics of the flap region of the HIV-1 protease</strong></p> <p><strong>working abstract</strong></p> <p>The HIV-1 protease is one of several common key targets of combination drug therapies for human immunodeficiency virus infection and acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (HIV/AIDS). During the progression of the disease, some individual patients acquire -drug resistance due to mutational hotspots on the viral proteins targeted by combination drug therapies. It has recently been discovered that drug-resistant mutations accumulate on the ‘flap region’ of the HIV-1 protease, which is a critical dynamic region involved in non-specific polypeptide binding during invasion and infection of the host cell. In this study, we utilize machine learning assisted comparative molecular dynamics, conducted at single amino acid site resolution, to investigate the dynamic changes that occur during functional dimerization and polypeptide binding of the main protease. We use a multi-agent machine learning model to identify conserved dynamics of the HIV-1 main protease that are preserved across simian and feline protease orthologs (SIV and FIV). We also investigate changes in dynamics due to common drug-resistant mutations in many patients. We find that a key functional site in the flap region, a solvent-exposed isoleucine (ILE50) and surrounding sites that control flap dynamics is often targeted by drug-resistance mutations, likely leading to malfunctional molecular dynamics affecting the overall flexibility of the flap region. We conclude that better long term patient outcomes may be achieved by designing drugs that target protease regions which are less dependent upon single sites with large functional binding effects.</p>

NAIADES Dynamical Treatments Suggestion Tool Modelling Dataset
<p>This data was generated within the European NAIADES project (grant agreement No 820985) for the development of the Dynamical Treatments Suggestion (DTS) Service. The DTS purpose is the estimation of the most efficient treatments (dosage of coagulant and chlorine) for drinking Water Treatment Plants (dWTPs) whose configuration is: coagulation/sedimentation, filtration and chlorination. The inlet water quality (pH, conductivity and turbidity) of the dWTP is used as input of the service. Then, it suggests the most efficient treatments that guarantee good drinking water quality at the outlet of the dWTP, based on WHO recommendations (turbidity below 5 NTU and chlorine concentration between 0.5 and 1 mg/L).</p> <p>The dataset includes data generated with Stimela, an open source water treatments processes simulation SW; and data collected in a scaled down replica of a real dWTP.</p>
