Yacimiento Los Bañales ZARAGOZA - SPAIN

Yacimiento Los Bañales 2021. El yacimiento arqueológico de Los Bañales esconde los restos de una ciudad romana cuyo nombre no puede certificarse aún con seguridad. Debió ocupar una extensión de algo más de veinte hectáreas de terreno, delimitadas al norte por un monumental espacio residencial, al sur por el cerro de El Huso y La Rueca, al este por Puy Foradado y el trazado elevado de un acueducto romano, y al oeste por la supuesta necrópolis al pie del cerro de El Pueyo. De la citada ciudad, durante muchos años, lo único estudiado con detalle fue su sistema hidráulico, dotado de unas monumentales termas, construidas a finales del siglo I d. C., y de un acueducto que transportaba el agua a la ciudad desde un posible embalse próximo. Muchacho sentado mirando a la Torre Nueva Autor/es: GIMENO LLOP, Santiago (Escultor) Emplazamiento: Plaza de San Felipe Periodo: [1976-2000] Último cuarto del siglo XX Materiales: Bronce Dimensiones : 87,50 x 0,46 x 0,68 m. Cronología : 1991 Dentro de las obras de reforma y remodelación urbana de la plaza de San Felipe, situada en el centro histórico de la ciudad, y a la que dan fachada edificios como la barroca iglesia de San Felipe y el palacio de los condes de Argillo, rehabilitado como sede del Museo Pablo Gargallo, los arquitectos responsables del proyecto levantaron en sobre los cimientos de la famosa torre mudéjar derribada en 1892 el Memorial de la Torre Nueva, que se complementó -aunque no figuraba originalmente en el proyecto-con esta escultura de bronce conocida como Muchacho sentado mirando a la Torre Nueva, y otras inserciones broncíneas en el pavimento representando unas hojas de árbol caídas y un rótulo.
