MCR LTER: Coral Reef: Data for figures in Doo, et al., Ocean acidification effects on in situ coral reef metabolism, Scientific Reports, 2019
These data result from a Free Ocean CO2 Enrichment (FOCE). Data include net community calcification (NCC), net community production (NCP), and net ecosystem calcification (NEC) for the figures in Doo, Edmunds and Cparpenter, Ocean acidification effects on in situ coral reef metabolism, Scientific Reports, 2019, https://doi.org/10.1038/s41598-019-48407-7. Data for Figure 2A describe the 24-h NCC collected in the in situ SCoRe-FOCE. Data for Figures 2B and 2C describe the offset of NCC of the high CO2 treatment from ambient collected in the in situ SCoRe-FOCE. Data for Figure 3 describe the correlation of NCP to NCC collected in the in situ SCoRe-FOCE. This material is based upon work supported by the U.S. National Science Foundation under Grant No. OCE 16-37396 (and earlier awards) as well as a generous gift from the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation. <p>This dataset contains monitoring data on zoonoses and zoonotic agents under the Directive 2003/99/EC. This Directive requires Member Sates (MSs) to collect, evaluate and report data on zoonoses and zoonotic agents. MSs can also report monitoring data and information on some other pathogenic microbiological agentsin foodstuffs. Relevant EU legislation is:Commission Regulation (EC) No 2073/2005,Commission Regulation (EC) No 1441/2007, Commission Regulation (EU) No 1086/2011, Commission Regulation (EU) No 209/2013, Commission Regulation(EU) No 217/2014.</p>
Food and waterborne outbreaks data complementing the European Union One Health 2018 Zoonoses Report
<p>Food and waterborne outbreaks data reported under the framework of Directive 2003/99/EC and in accordance with the update of the technical specifications for harmonised reporting of FBOs through the EU reporting system in accordance with Directive 2003/99/EC. This dataset includes the number of outbreaks, as well as the number of human cases, hospitalisations and deaths, per causative agent. In addition, other information can include data on causative agents, food vehicles, and the factors in food preparation and handling that contributed to the food-borne outbreaks. Reporting countries can also provide information on the nature of the evidence supporting the suspicion of the food vehicle. This evidence can be epidemiological, microbiological, descriptive environmental, or based on product tracing investigations. </p>

MarTREC Data Set for Report: Developing and Applying an Analysis Methodology to Identify Flow Generation Influences between Vessel and Truck Shipments
<p>Truck activity is logically connected to vessel activity at a port. In turn, vessel activity is also influenced by truck shipments. Although one might expect a direct and straightforward relation between these two types of shipments, that is rarely the case. For instance, many maritime containers carry consolidated cargos that have multiple and different final destinations. Also, different truck capacities, customs clearance and regulations play a critical role in determining the actual relation between these two types of shipments. This project aims at shedding light on the nuances of maritime and roadway flow relations by quantitatively analyzing the linkages between these two types of shipments.</p> <p>The study performed a statistical analysis to determine the probability distributions of vessel and truck activity, and then explore the correlation of each activity with the other. The analysis yielded coefficients that function as explanatory values for specific truck flows.</p> <p>The ultimate purpose of this study is to provide a clearer and quantitative understanding of the relationship between maritime and truck shipments, and by doing so, to provide tools to develop a system for managing trucks that maximizes efficiency for industry, while minimizing industry’s negative impacts on a region.</p> <p>For this purpose, the study selected the Port Freeport as a case study.</p>

Data from: Conformational dynamics in TRPV1 channels reported by an encoded coumarin amino acid
TRPV1 channels support the detection of noxious and nociceptive input. Currently available functional and structural data suggest that TRPV1 channels have two gates within their permeation pathway: one formed by a ′bundle-crossing′ at the intracellular entrance and a second constriction at the selectivity filter. To describe conformational changes associated with channel gating, the fluorescent non-canonical amino acid coumarin-tyrosine was genetically encoded at Y671, a residue proximal to the selectivity filter. Total internal reflection fluorescence microscopy was performed to image the conformational dynamics of the channels in live cells. Photon counts and optical fluctuations from coumarin encoded within TRPV1 tetramers correlates with channel activation by capsaicin, providing an optical marker of conformational dynamics at the selectivity filter. In agreement with the fluorescence data, molecular dynamics simulations display alternating solvent exposure of Y671 in the closed and open states. Overall, the data point to a dynamic selectivity filter that may serve as a gate for permeation.
Excel mapping tools for 2020 zoonoses data reporting
<p>The main objective of the mapping tools is to provide a simple and useable platform for Member states and other reporting countries to map their country-specific standard terminology to that used by EFSA and to enable the production of an XML file for the submission of sample or aggregated-based zoonoses monitoring data via the Data Collection Framework (DCF).</p> <p>The catalogues and the specific hierarchy of each data model (AMR, ESBL, PRV, FBO, AP, DS and SSD2 for <em>Echinococcus multilocularis</em>) are already inserted into each of the specific mapping tool. Specific Excel mapping tools corresponding to each of the seven data models are available.</p> <p>Dynamic or manual version of the tool can be chosen for the first six data models.</p> <p>The Emulti_SSD2_tool can be used to report sample-based results of <em>Echinococcus multilocularis</em> under the Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2018/772.</p>

Data from: Increases and decreases in marine disease reports in an era of global change
<p>Outbreaks of <span class="il">marine</span> infectious diseases have caused widespread mass mortalities, but the lack of baseline data has precluded evaluating whether <span class="il">disease</span> is increasing or decreasing in the ocean. We use an established literature proxy method from Ward and Lafferty (2004) to analyze a 44-year <span class="il">global</span> record of normalized <span class="il">disease</span> reports from 1970 to 2013. Major <span class="il">marine</span> hosts are combined into nine taxonomic groups, from seagrasses to <span class="il">marine</span> mammals, to assess <span class="il">disease</span> swings, defined as positive or negative multi-decadal shifts in <span class="il">disease</span> reports across related hosts. Normalized <span class="il">disease</span> reports increased significantly between 1970 and 2013 in corals and urchins, indicating positive <span class="il">disease</span> swings in these environmentally sensitive ectotherms. Coral <span class="il">disease</span> reports in the Caribbean correlated with increasing temperature anomalies, supporting the hypothesis that warming oceans drive infectious coral diseases. Meanwhile, <span class="il">disease</span> risk may also decrease in a changing ocean. <span class="il">Disease</span> reports decreased significantly in fish and elasmobranchs, which have experienced steep human-induced population declines and diminishing population density that, while concerning, may reduce <span class="il">disease</span>. The <span class="il">increases</span> and decreases in <span class="il">disease</span> reports across the 44-year record transcend short-term fluctuations and regional variation. Our results show that long-term changes in <span class="il">disease</span> reports coincide with recent decades of widespread environmental <span class="il">change</span> in the ocean.</p>

Data of quantitative, ratiometric dual fluorescence reporter assay at the single-cell level
<p>The data set shows the evaluation of a new dual fluorescence reporter assay using three test genes, vimentin, lamin A/C and Arp3. This fluorescence protein-based reported assay successfully predicts siRNA efficacy with high fidelity. Data include images of Hela cells transfected with Vim-T4 ad Vim-T5 knockdown contructs; images of dual fluorescence assay; data analysis for knockdown experiments, Western blotting analysis of vimentin-knockdown in Hela cells, knockdown of endogenous lamin A/C in Hela cells; quantification of lamin A/C knockdown in Hela cells; dual fluorescence assay of human vimentin genes using three plasmids; Western blotting of Arp3 knockdown in SCC9 cells.</p> <p>All files can be opened using LibreOffice or OpenOffice. Some of the ODS files have a minor problem when opening them in Excel in the Windows computers. Excel will give warning about some unreadable contents. By choosing the repair option, the file contents will be shown without changes compared to the original data. Detailed explanation is given in the “Explanation file”.</p>

Improvement of reporting method for closed-loop human localization experiments -- Data
<p>This data set contains stimuli and results from two experiments for human localisation of virtual sound source simulated via binaural synthesis using head related impulse responses (HRIRs). The corresponding binaural room scanning (BRS) files for the binaural simulation can be found in the directory `brs`. The employed noise stimulus is contained in `stimuli`. The localisation results are stored in `results` together with a text file to describe the content in more detail. The `analysis` directory includes scripts for the statistical evaluation and reproduction of the figures in the paper.</p> <p>Abstract of the Publication:</p> <p>Sound Field Synthesis reproduces a desired sound field within an extended listening area using up to hundreds of loudspeakers. The perceptual evaluation of such methods is challenging, as many degrees of freedom have to be considered. Binaural Synthesis simulating the loudspeakers over headphones is an effective tool for the evaluation. A prior study has investigated, whether non-individual anechoic binaural synthesis is perceptually transparent enough to evaluate human localisation in sound field synthesis. With the used apparatus, an undershoot for lateral sound sources was observed for real loudspeakers and their binaural simulation. This paper reassesses human localisation for the mentioned technique using a slightly modified setup. The results show that the localisation error decreased and no undershoot was observed.</p>
