<p>Within their natural distribution ranges, plant species exhibit genetic structure which has been created by global climate change and natural selection over long periods. To conserve local forests with different genetic structures, genetic guidelines for seed and seedling transfer in individual species are therefore necessary. Genetic guidelines have been published for 43 Japanese tree species using population genetic data; however, for practical use, more detailed genetic borders between important genetic lineages should be clarified to inform seed collection and planting. Thus, we investigated in detail the genetic borders between two important Japanese oak species, Quercus serrata and Q. crispula, in the Chubu region of Japan using chloroplast and nuclear DNA markers, and we discuss the factors that influenced border creation using the results of species distribution modelling (SDM). Two distinct cpDNA haplotypes were found for each species (northern and southern haplotype) within the Chubu region of Japan but the difference in nuclear DNA between northern and southern haplotype populations was very small both in Q. serrata and Q. crispula. The results of SDM showed that during the LGM Q. serrata was distributed mostly along the coastline but Q. crispula was distributed not only along the coast but also in mountainous areas further inland. The cpDNA genetic borders of these two oak species are complex and seem to have been influenced by topography and their distribution during the LGM. We propose and discuss genetic guidelines for these two oak species based on the results of this study.</p>
Bridging research integrity and global health epidemiology (BRIDGE) statement: guidelines for good epidemiological practice
<p>Research integrity and research fairness have gained considerable momentum in the past decade and have direct implications for global health epidemiology. Research integrity and research fairness principles should be equally nurtured to produce high quality impactful research – but bridging the two can lead to practical and ethical dilemmas. In order to provide practical guidance to researchers and epidemiologist, we set out to develop good epidemiological practice guidelines specifically for global health epidemiology, targeted at stakeholders involved in the commissioning, conduct, appraisal and publication of global health research.</p> <p>We developed preliminary guidelines based on targeted online searches on existing best practices for epidemiological studies and sought to align these with key elements of global health research and research fairness. We validated these guidelines through a Delphi consultation study, to reach a consensus among a wide representation of stakeholders. </p> <p>A total of 45 experts provided input on the first round of GEP e-Delphi consultation, and 40 in the second. Respondents covered a range of organisations (including for example academia, ministries, NGOs, research funders, technical agencies) involved in epidemiological studies from countries around the world. A selection of eight experts were invited for a face-to-face meeting. The final guidelines consists of a set of six standards and 42 accompanying criteria including study preparation, study protocol and ethical review, data collection, data management, analysis, reporting and dissemination.</p> <p>This database only includes anonymised responses of participants who agreed to their data being shared in this depository , i.e.19 out of the 45 (Round 1) and 40 (Round 2) participants. </p>

<p>Although a guideline for reporting the results of community-based participatory research (CBPR) was published in 2010, the impact on the quality of reporting a CBPR on smoking cessation is unknown. Here we provide the raw data of a systematic review that assessed the impact of a 2010 community-based participatory research reporting guideline. on the quality of reporting a CBPR on smoking cessation. Specifically, we searched the MEDLINE, Embase, the Cochrane Central Register for Controlled Trials (CENTRAL), PsycINFO, and CINAHL databases and included articles published up to October 2018 (PROSPERO: CRD42019111668). We assessed reporting quality using a 13-item checklist.</p>
Data from: Cost effectiveness of the New Zealand diabetes in pregnancy guideline screening recommendations
Objective: To compare the cost-effectiveness of 2 possible screening strategies for gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) from the perspective of the New Zealand health system, developed as part of a gestational diabetes guideline. Design: A decision analytic model was built comparing 2-step screening (glycated haemoglobin (HbA1c) test at first booking and a 2 h 75 g oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) as a single test at 24–28 weeks) with 3-step screening (HbA1c test at first booking and a 1 h glucose challenge test (GCT) followed by a 2 h 75 g OGTT when indicated from 24–28 weeks) using a 9-month time horizon. Setting: A hypothetical cohort of 62 000 pregnant women in New Zealand. Methods: Probabilities, costs and benefits were derived from the literature, and supplementary data was obtained from National Women's Annual Clinical Reports. Main outcome measures, screening and treatment costs (NZ$2013) and effect on health outcomes (incidence of complications). Results: The total cost for both strategies under baseline assumptions shows that the 2-step screening strategy would cost NZ$1.38 m more than the 3-step screening strategy overall. The additional cost per case detected was NZ$12 460 per case. The model found that the 2-step screening strategy identifies 12 more women with diabetes and 111 more women with GDM when compared against the 3-step screening strategy. We assessed the effect of changing the sensitivity and specificity of the OGTT. The baseline model assumed that the 2 h 75 g OGTT has a sensitivity and specificity of 95%. The 2-step strategy becomes more cost-effective when the diagnostic accuracy measures are improved. Conclusions: Adopting a 2-step strategy would moderately increase the number of GDM cases detected at the same time as moderately increasing the number of women with false negatives at a significant cost to the health system. Further evidence on the benefits of the 2 different approaches would be welcome.
Data from: Intrauterine insemination: a UK survey on the adherence to NICE clinical guidelines by fertility clinics
Objective: To evaluate the awareness and response of fertility clinics in the UK to the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) guideline recommendation that intrauterine insemination (IUI) should not be offered routinely, in order to report on current practice in the UK. Design: Online questionnaire survey of fertility clinics in the UK regarding their current clinical practice of IUI, formal discussion of the guideline recommendations, and any alterations made since the recommendations. Setting: 66 UK fertility clinics licensed to provide IUI. Participant:s 46 fertility clinics, including 6 clinic groups which represent 70% of all clinics and clinic groups licensed to provide IUI in April 2014 when the survey email was sent. Results: Of the 46 clinics that responded, 96% (44/46) of clinics continue to offer IUI. 98% (43/44) of those offering IUI also use ovarian stimulation. The most commonly used medications for ovarian stimulation are gonadotrophins (95%), followed by clomiphene citrate (49%) and letrozole (19%). 78% (36/46) of clinics had formally discussed NICE guideline recommendations. 17 clinics (37%) had made some changes to their practices; as a result, four clinics reported a reduction in the number of IUI cycles, six clinics had restricted the indications for IUI, and five clinics had begun informing patients of the guideline recommendations, while two did not specify. Conclusions: The majority of clinics were aware of the guideline recommendations. However, only a small proportion of clinics had made significant changes to their practice by reducing the number of IUI cycles or restricting the clinical indications for IUI. The availability of further evidence will assist NICE and clinicians in making recommendations on the use of IUI. There is a need to further explore the reasons for the lack of adherence to the recommendations.
Data from: Poor adherence to guidelines for preventing central line-associated bloodstream infections (CLABSI): results of a worldwide survey
Background: Central line-associated bloodstream infections (CLABSI) are a cause of increased morbidity and mortality, and are largely preventable. We documented attitudes and practices in intensive care units (ICUs) in 2015 in order to assess compliance with CLABSI prevention guidelines. Methods: Between June and October 2015, an online questionnaire was made available to medical doctors and nurses working in ICUs worldwide. We investigated practices related to central line (CL) insertion, maintenance and measurement of CLABSI-related data following the SHEA guidelines as a standard. We computed weighted estimates for high, middle and low-income countries using country population as a weight. Only countries providing at least 10 complete responses were included in these estimates. Results: Ninety five countries provided 3407 individual responses; no low income, 14 middle income (MIC) and 27 high income (HIC) countries provided 10 or more responses. Of the total respondents, 80% (MIC, SE = 1.5) and 81% (HIC, SE = 1.0) reported availability of written clinical guidelines for CLABSI prevention in their ICU; 23% (MIC,SE = 1.7) and 62% (HIC,SE = 1.4) reported compliance to the following (combined) recommendations for CL insertion: hand hygiene, full barrier precaution, chlorhexidine >0.5%, no topic or systemic antimicrobial prophylaxis; 60% (MIC,SE = 2.0) and 73% (HIC,SE = 1.2) reported daily assessment for the need of a central line. Most considered CLABSI measurement key to quality improvement, however few were able to report their CLABSI rate. Heterogeneity between countries was high and country specific results are made available. Conclusions: This study has identified areas for improvement in CLABSI prevention practices linked to CL insertion and maintenance. Priorities for intervention differ between countries.
Data from: First Latin American clinical practice guidelines for the treatment of systemic lupus erythematosus: Latin American Group for the Study of Lupus (GLADEL, Grupo Latino Americano de Estudio del Lupus)–Pan-American League of Associations of Rheumatology (PANLAR)
Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), a complex and heterogeneous autoimmune disease, represents a significant challenge for both diagnosis and treatment. Patients with SLE in Latin America face special problems that should be considered when therapeutic guidelines are developed. The objective of the study is to develop clinical practice guidelines for Latin American patients with lupus. Two independent teams (rheumatologists with experience in lupus management and methodologists) had an initial meeting in Panama City, Panama, in April 2016. They selected a list of questions for the clinical problems most commonly seen in Latin American patients with SLE. These were addressed with the best available evidence and summarised in a standardised format following the Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development and Evaluation approach. All preliminary findings were discussed in a second face-to-face meeting in Washington, DC, in November 2016. As a result, nine organ/system sections are presented with the main findings; an 'overarching' treatment approach was added. Special emphasis was made on regional implementation issues. Best pharmacologic options were examined for musculoskeletal, mucocutaneous, kidney, cardiac, pulmonary, neuropsychiatric, haematological manifestations and the antiphospholipid syndrome. The roles of main therapeutic options (ie, glucocorticoids, antimalarials, immunosuppressant agents, therapeutic plasma exchange, belimumab, rituximab, abatacept, low-dose aspirin and anticoagulants) were summarised in each section. In all cases, benefits and harms, certainty of the evidence, values and preferences, feasibility, acceptability and equity issues were considered to produce a recommendation with special focus on ethnic and socioeconomic aspects. Guidelines for Latin American patients with lupus have been developed and could be used in similar settings.

Data from: drones as a tool to study and monitor endangered Grey Crowned Cranes (Balaerica regulorum): behavioural responses and recommended guidelines
<p>These data detail the results of an investigation into the impact of drones and on-foot approaches on the behaviour of the endangered Grey Crowned Crane (<em>Balearica regulorum</em>). In total, 313 drone flights and 56 on-foot approaches were conducted over three different Grey Crowned Crane group types - pairs (110 flights, 26 on-foot), families (66 flights, 7 on-foot), and flocks (110 flights, 23 on-foot). Response data describe the number of birds exhibiting a particular behaviour (1 - no behaviour change, 2 - heads raised to observe surroundings, 3 - wings raised, 4 -moving away, and 5 - flying away) based on a photograph taken during the approach. Predictor data include the distance between the drone or on-foot observer and the bird grouping and a description of the group type. The number of individuals in the group can be inferred from the response data.</p>

Guidelines for Adoption Micro-frontend Architecture
<p><strong>Context:</strong> The rapid evolution of software development has led to challenges when integrating new technologies into monolithic frontend architectures. While microservices advanced backend modularity, frontends often face issues like code redundancy, scalability, and lack of modularity. The micro-frontend architecture emerged as a modular approach to address these challenges.</p> <p><strong>Problem:</strong> Current monolithic frontend structures hinder agility and scalability in corporate environments, affecting both technology performance and business adaptability. This study targets challenges such as redundancy and the complexities of team coordination when scaling frontend projects.</p> <p><strong>Proposed Solution:</strong> We developed a Guide for Adoption of Micro-Frontends (GAM), providing structured guidelines to support the effective implementation of micro-frontends in corporate contexts.</p> <p><strong>IS Theory:</strong> This research draws upon the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), evaluating the factors influencing the adoption of micro-frontend architecture within development teams.</p> <p><strong>Method:</strong> We conducted a systematic mapping study (SMS) to investigate the impacts and challenges associated with adopting micro-frontends in software development. Next, we proposed the GAM and carried out a case study at [Blind Review] to assess the feasibility of the proposed guide. Additionally, we conducted a survey with development practitioners to explore their perceptions of the micro-frontend architecture and the workflows suggested by the GAM.</p> <p><strong>Results:</strong> Results indicate that GAM is viewed positively by practitioners, assisting in the structured adoption of micro-frontends. Our case study highlights critical areas impacted by this approach, including performance, scalability, and parallel development, as well as issues with module complexity and developer experience.</p> <p><strong>Contributions and Impact on IS:</strong> This research contributes a practical framework for the industry, addressing current gaps in micro-frontend implementation and setting a basis for further study on modular frontend architectures in Information Systems (IS). GAM provides actionable insights for practitioners, enhancing frontend modernization efforts with measurable impacts in agility and maintenance.</p>
