Data from: The ORFIUS complex regulates ORC2 localization at replication origins (Flow cytometry)

In this work, we use bromodeoxyuridine (BrdU)/propidium iodide cell cycle flow cytometry profiling to demonstrate that treatment of ovarian cancer cell lines with gene specific siRNAs, shRNAs, or drugs leads to minimal or no cell cycle arrest which might otherwise influence observed phenotypes. All raw FCS files for flow cytometry data presented in Figures 4E, 6G, S3A, S4C, S5B, S5F, S8C, S8D, S8E, S9C, S10C, and S12B are available here.

CoUDlabs_WP8_T811_UOS_001. Investigating geometrical effects on hydraulic energy losses during sewer to surface flow interactions during urban floods

This document describes the dataset used in CO UD-labs JRA3 (WP 8) Task 8.1.1. This considers the hydraulic exchange (surcharge) from a piped drainage system to surface flood flow through a manhole. The dataset includes measurements of pressure, flow rate and depth from a physical scale model. The effect of changing the manhole lid properties on flow exchange (surcharge) and pressure in the experimental system is quantified over a range of flow rates.

Data from: Plane wave Doppler determination of blood flow in retinopathy of prematurity

Retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) is a disorder affecting low birthweight, preterm neonates. In the preterm eye, the retina is not fully developed and neovascularization may occur at the margin between the developed vascular retina and undeveloped avascular retina. Without timely treatment by laser or intravitreal anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) therapy, this can lead to tractional retinal detachment and blindness. Visualization of the retina in regular examinations by indirect ophthalmoscopy is hence the current standard of care, but the exams are stressful and interpretation of images is subjective.

The upregulation of VEGF in ROP would suggest an increase in ocular blood flow. In this report, we evaluate the potential of ultrafast plane-wave Doppler ultrasound (PWU) to detect increased flow velocities in the orbital vessels supplying the eye in a gentle exam with objective findings.

We imaged both eyes of 50 low-birthweight preterm neonates using 18 MHz PWU. Flow velocity in the central retinal artery (CRA) and vein (CRV), and the short posterior ciliary arteries were determined and values at each ROP Stage compared.

We found significantly increased velocities in the CRA and CRV in Stage 3 ROP eyes, where intervention would be considered. We compared multivariate models for identifying Stage 3 eyes comprised solely of clinical factors, solely of Doppler parameters, and clinical plus Doppler parameters. The respective models provided areas under their respective ROC curves of 0.760, 0.812, and 0.904.

PWU Doppler represents a gentle, objective means for identifying neonates at risk for ROP that could complement ophthalmoscopy.

Herein lies user defined functions, submission scripts, and intitial particle data necessary to build a discrete element solver (using MFiX-DEM version 21.1.1: https://mfix.netl.doe.gov/products/mfix/) and run a monodisperse pure granular flow with 5mm beads in a shear cell configuration. Contained within this dataset are particle velocity and force data for the entire collection of particles ('VELOCITY'* and 'FORCES*.DAT', respectively). This dataset also contains particle-force data recorded at the bottom force plate, writen at 10 kHz. Two MATLAB scripts are included for post processing the force plate data.

The influence of flow electrode channel design on flow capacitive deionization performance: Experimental and CFD modelling insights

Flow capacitive deionization (FCDI) is an emerging desalination technology at which flow electrodes (shearthinning
flowable carbon slurries) are used to remove ions from saline water. The geometry of flow electrode
channels, which provide the path and ensure the distribution and mixing of the flow electrodes, is one of the most
important aspects to be optimized. This work presents experimental and computational fluid dynamics (CFD)
modelling analysis of the influence of the geometry of flow electrode channels on FCDI performance. Flow
electrode gaskets (with open, serpentine (short) horizontal and serpentine (long) vertical channels) were 3D
printed using a polyethylene terephthalate glycol (PET-G) filament. The FCDI cell with a vertical serpentine flow
electrode channel exhibited the poorest performance due to channel blockage by carbon particles, while the best
results were achieved with a horizontal serpentine flow electrode channel. CFD simulations aided in understanding
this behaviour by showing that the channel geometry strongly affects the local shear rate, and thus the
local viscosity of flow electrodes. Thus, it is recommended to design channels that induce flow disturbance
aiming for increasing the shear rate and hence reducing flow electrode viscosity, therefore promoting their
flowability and reducing clogging chances.
