Paradoxical Leadership and Employee Proactive Work Behavior: Exploring the Mediating Role of Perceived Psychological Contract Fulfillment.
<p><span><span>Abstract</span></span></p> <p><strong><span>Background</span></strong></p> <p><span>This study delves into the intricate interplay among paradoxical leadership (PL), employees' proactive work behaviour (EPWB), and perceived psychological contract fulfilment (PPCF). PL, characterized by its simultaneous emphasis on apparently contradictory behaviours, has garnered attention due to its potential to foster innovation, adaptability, and creativity. The study's main objective is to thoroughly explore the complexities of PL, its influence on EPWB, and whether the PPCF serves as a mediator. <span> </span></span></p> <p><strong><span>Methods</span></strong></p> <p><span>A survey was distributed to 338 hotel and travel agency employees to gather data. The data was analysed using structural equation modelling through a SmartPLS program. </span></p> <p><strong><span>Results </span></strong></p> <p><span>The results reveal a positive correlation between PL and EPWB. Additionally, PPCF partially mediates this relationship, indicating its vital role in exploring the positive impact of PL on boosting proactive behaviours. </span></p> <p><strong><span>Conclusions </span></strong></p> <p><span>This research brings forth meaningful contributions to both theoretical and practical dimensions. Theoretically, it enhances our comprehension of how PL manifests in the distinctive landscape of the hospitality and tourism domain, substantiating its potential to drive proactive behaviours among employees. The mediation of PPCF enriches our grasp of the underlying mechanisms, accentuating the significance of maintaining harmonized and consistent leadership practices. <p>This is a replication data for the paper titled "Leveraging Large Language Models for Comprehensive Psychological Analysis: Insights from Four Theoretical Frameworks" submitted for a blind review.</p> <p>Abstract</p> <p>The rapid advancement of generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) has significantly transformed various research domains. This paper introduces a novel, fully automated methodology for applying Large Language Models (LLMs) to psychological text analysis. The approach includes prompt design for zero-shot and few-shot learning, model internal consistency analysis, autonomous machine evaluation, and additional human validation. Applied to four psychological theories—Self-Determination Theory, the Big Five Personality Traits, Psychological Well-being, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy—this methodology is tested on a dataset of 25,780 emails written by a senior executive (called Person X) over 16 years. The analysis involves extracting psychological characteristics from the emails and regressing these characteristics against personal, professional, and environmental factors. The results demonstrate that the methodology provides unique insights into the examined psychological theories, offering a detailed understanding of how various factors influence psychological states and traits over time. This research highlights the potential of LLMs in capturing and analyzing complex psychological patterns in large text corpora, contributing a robust framework for future studies and practical applications in psychological assessment and intervention. The findings underscore the transformative impact of generative AI in psychological research, opening new avenues for understanding human behavior through advanced language models.</p> <p>The zipped file contains five csv files:</p> <ol> <li>Email_classification-csv: LLM (GPT-3.5 Turbo) classification of 25,780 emails for four psychological theories: SDT, Big Five, PWB and CBT.</li> <li>SDT_regression_data.csv</li> <li>Big_Five_regression_data.csv</li> <li>PWB_regression_data.csv</li> <li>CBT_regression_data.csv</li> </ol> <p>For 2-5 files the dependent variable is monthy percentage share of emails the were assigned a given value for categories of one of the four psychological theories analyzed. </p> <p>Linear regression model has been applied, where dependent variable is the percentage of emails in a specified category that assigned a specific value in this category. For example in Big Five Traits Model, for the Openness category, for each month we calculated percentage of emails that exhibit <em>High</em> or <em>Low</em> openness, or <em>None</em> if the content of the email does not provide enough information to assess whether the specific need is relevant. Two dependent variables were created: <em>Openness-high</em> and <em>Openness-low</em> and regressed on all independent variables. Regressions were not run for the <em>None</em> values.</p> <p>Descriptions of independent variables:</p> <p>- <em>income_index</em>: Person X salary income and consulting fees in a given month, normalized to [0,1].</p> <p>- <em>card_spending</em>: Person X credit card expenditures in a given month, normalized to [0,1].</p> <p>- <em>abroad_far</em>: dummy variable set to 1 for months when Person X worked in Central Asia</p> <p>- <em>abroad_near</em>: dummy variable set to 1 when Person X worked in other EU country</p> <p>- <em>death_1_war</em>: variable set to 1 in a month when Person X’ farther in law passed away. In the same month Russia invaded Ukraine. The variable was set to .75 in the following month, and to .5 in the month after that.</p> <p>- <em>death_2</em>: variable set to 1 in a month when Person X’ mother passed away. The variable was set to .75 in the following month, and to .5 in the month after that.</p> <p>- <em>court_case</em>: dummy variable set to 1 for months with the emotionally engaging inheritance court case involving other family members.</p> <p>- <em>BIG4_partner</em>: dummy variable set to 1 for months when Person X worked as a partner in BIG4 accounting firm, which resulted in adopting a professional activity sharply different from the usual Person X habits.</p> <p>- <em>AI_company</em>: dummy variable set to 1 for months when Person X worked as C-level executive at a company specializing in artificial intelligence.</p> <p>- <em>elections</em>: dummy variable set to 1 for months when Person X unsuccessfully run in parliamentary elections</p> <p>- <em>covid_lockdown</em>: dummy variable set to 1 for month where Polish government imposed tough measures during two covid lockdowns.</p> <p>- <em>no_receive</em>: number of different email recipients each month, normalized to [0,1].</p> <p>- <em>avg_length</em>: average number of words in emails sent each month, normalized to [0,1].</p> <p> While the email data was collected for January 2008 – March 2014 period, financial data was available from October 2009. There were some months where no emails with more than 10 words were sent, yielding 166 monthly observations used for regressions, before removing outliers.</p> <p> Independent variables were tested for multicollinearity, outlier months were removed, regressions were estimated with robust standard errors, and a range of standard tests were conducted for normality and autocorrelation of residuals, confirming good statistical properties of estimated models.</p> <p>Due to privacy concerns, the email texts cannot be publicly shared. However, the classifications of psychological categories derived from the email texts, along with all other relevant data, are made publicly available in this open access repository, with the consent of email author.</p> <p> </p>

Kinesiophobia on Proprioception and Balance: Mediation by Pain, Mobility, and Psychological Wellbeing following THR
<p>The study analyzed the demographic and clinical characteristics of two groups: 50 total hip replacement (THR) patients and 50 asymptomatic elderly individuals. The THR group had a mean age of 68.43 years, slightly higher than the 67.83 years observed in the asymptomatic group. The THR group had a higher proportion of females (60%) compared to the asymptomatic group (55%). Body Mass Index (BMI) was slightly higher in the THR group, averaging 27.34 kg/m² versus 26.56 kg/m² in the asymptomatic group. The THR patients had experienced symptoms for an average of 12.66 months. Significant differences were observed between the groups in various clinical measures. The THR patients had substantially higher Kinesiophobia (TSK Score: 36.56 ± 5.27) and Pain Intensity (VAS Score: 6.23 ± 1.59) compared to the asymptomatic group (TSK Score: 19.85 ± 4.13, VAS Score: 1.05 ± 0.53). Functional mobility, measured by the Timed Up and Go (TUG) test, was poorer in the THR group (12.54 ± 2.09 seconds) than in the asymptomatic group (10.34 ± 1.54 seconds). Psychological well-being, as assessed by the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS), was also lower in the THR group (8.03 ± 3.23) compared to the asymptomatic group (4.34 ± 2.56).</p> <p>Further analysis using independent samples t-tests revealed significant differences between the groups across all measured characteristics, including Joint Position Sense (JPS) in hip flexion and abduction, and various directions of Limits of Stability (LoS). The THR group exhibited greater impairment in proprioception and LoS, with Cohen's d values indicating large effect sizes, particularly in kinesiophobia, proprioception, and LoS in the forward and right-forward directions. These findings highlight the profound impact of THR on patients' physical and psychological well-being, emphasizing the need for targeted rehabilitation interventions.</p>
The predictive role of executive functions and psychological factors on chronic pain after orthopaedic surgery A longitudinal cohort study
<p>This is a dataset from a longitudinal cohort study. Patients listed for orthopaedic surgery were enrolled. Variables measured<br> before surgery were pain intensity, the sensory, affective, cognitive and mixed components of pain, state and trait variables associated with the psychological status of the patient, fear of movement, pain catastrophizing, visual attention and cognitive flexibility. Pain intensity and the components<br> of pain were re-evaluated after surgery and after three months. 167 patients were enrolled.</p>
Assessment of spinal cord stimulation and radiofrequency Chronic pain and psychological impact
<p>Pain has a major impact on anxiety and depression levels. The aim of this study is to demonstrate how these symptoms (depression and anxiety) could positively influence the perception of pain after neurostimulation system implantation.We enrolled 100 patients and divided in 2 different groups, by using tests screening such as Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HAM-A), Nursing Rating Scale (NRS): the group with spinal cord stimulation (SCS) and the group with pulsed spinal cord radiofrequency (RFP).We highlighted a significant decrease of scores (BDI, HAM-A, NRS) in each group between T0 (baseline) and T1. Moreover, the intra-group analysis showed a positive significant correlation between NRS and depressive and anxiety symptoms.We assert that the use of alternative methods (SCS and RFP) to the traditional pharmaceutical-surgical treatments, provide the reduction of the algic and anxiety-depressant symptoms, restoring also the perception of psychological well-being.</p>
