THE ATOMIC RACE DURING THE SECOND WORLD WAR
<p>The article examines the race for the possession of atomic weapons, which unfolded between Nazi Germany and the United States during the Second World War. The chronology of events shows that Nazi Germany was in the lead in the atomic race in 1940 and 1941. After the defeat of the Fascist troops near Moscow in December 1941, Hitler ordered to mobilize all resources for current military needs. At a time when the fighting on the Eastern Front was pulling more and more financial and human resources out of the Reich, the Nazi leadership came to the conclusion that the creation (and even more so the use) of nuclear weapons during the Second World War are no longer possible. If the United States (a huge rich country without military operations on its territory) intensified work on the nuclear project every month, then the Third Reich, on the contrary, conducted it according to the residual principle. The authors conclude that the main force that prevented the Nazis from unleashing atomic death on the world was the Soviet Union, which made a decisive contribution to the defeat of fascism.</p>
Data from: The war of corals: patterns, drivers, and implications of changing coral competitive performances across reef environments
<p>Amidst global environmental changes, predicting species responses to future environments is a critical challenge for preserving biodiversity and associated human benefits. We explored the original idea that coral competitive performances, the ability of corals to preempt ecological space on the reef through territorial warfare, serve as indicators of species' ecological niches and environmental windows, and therefore, responses to future environments. Our surveys indicated that coral performances varied with taxonomic-identity, size, and position along environmental gradients, highlighting complex interplays between life-history, warfare-strategy, and niche segregation. Our results forewarn that growing alterations of coastal environments may trigger shifts in coral dominance, with decline of major reef-building taxa like acroporids, and underscore the importance of restraining human impacts for coastal resilience. Our empirical approach untangles the complexity of species' battle-like interactions and can help identify winners and losers in various communities caught in the interplay between ecological niches, environmental windows, and global changes.</p>
ASSISTANCE OF THE RUSSIAN ORTHODOX CHURCH TO THE POPULATION USSR DURING THE GREAT PATRIOTIC WAR
<p>The article discusses the assistance of the Russian Orthodox Church to the population of the USSR during the Great Patriotic War. Modern Russian reality allows us to rethink many aspects of our entire complex history, helps to understand the drama and dialectic of public life, to abandon many historical dogmas and stereotypes. In modern conditions, there is a formation and formation of a new attitude to the study of such a complex problem as state-church relations during the Soviet system, especially during the Great Patriotic War. This is largely facilitated by the ongoing process of restructuring in the sphere of public consciousness, which finds expression in the expansion of pluralism of opinions on the most acute problems of our past, including the relationship between the Soviet state and the Russian Orthodox Church during the Great Patriotic War. The importance of this article is determined primarily by the need for a comprehensive assessment of the entire complex of state-church relations during the war, the use of this experience to solve new problems, to extract from history the lessons necessary to understand the present and foresee the future.</p>

Nesokia bunnui was originally described as a separate ge-nus, Erythronesokia, because it is morphologically very distinctive from N. indica. Head—body 230-260 mm, tail 205-270 mm, ear 18-21 mm, hindfoot 49-58 mm; weight 519 g. The Long-tailed Bandicoot Rat is larger than the Short-tailed Bandicoot Rat (N. indica). Pelage is soft and woolly, interspersed with harsher coarse hair and long black hairs near mid-back. Dorsum is fawn to ocherous red, washed with purple or chestnuton darker individuals. Hairs are basally slate-gray and distally rufous, occasionally with whitish or black tips. Muzzle is drab. Sides arefawn, with gray edge toward venter. Venteris whitish, extending onto cheeks where the same pattern from gray to fawn to dorsal pelage occurs. Feet are large and robust, being light brown and well-furred dorsally. Claws are amber on forefeet and dull brown on hindfeet; pollux is extremely small. Ears are moderately long and brownish, with no hair internally. Tail is ¢.82-104% of head-body length and deep brownish drab, interspersed with visible white hair. Skull is large and robust, similarly to the Short-tailed Bandicoot Rat. Habitat. Stamford War Memorial
Located in Stamford, Lincolnshire (UK) the War Memorial is located on Braod Street. in front of Browne's Hospital. The Memorial itself features nine bronze tablets with the names of 237 servicemen written on front. A fresh appeal was launched to raise funds for a new memorial to honour the local soldiers who had died during World War II. This comprised five bronze panels fixed below those of World War I and the War Memorial was rededicated on Armistice Sunday 1949. The iron gates were dedicated at a Jubilee Civic Service on 9 June 2002. It is cleaned twice per week by volumteers and mebers of the Royal British Legion. The Allgemeine Elektrizitäts Gesellschaft (A.E.G.) G.IV bomber went into general use with the German Air Force in 1917. Because of its relatively short range, the G.IV served mainly as a tactical bomber. <br><br>The A.E.G.
