Artful Dementia Film 2021

<p>In this short film we share aesthetic perspectives on how to connect in co-creative spaces. The film production is based on a set of video recordings collected within the Artful Dementia Research Lab: <a href="http://www.uit.no/research/adlab">http://www.uit.no/research/adlab </a>- at UiT The Artic University of Norway. The film presents visual representations of in-the-moment experiences and brings together voices from sociology, applied theatre, music, fine arts, and practitioners participating in a larger citizen science project in Northern Norway. The film was shot during the kick-off session of the project &lsquo;Shorelines&rsquo; at Bergsodden residential care home in February 2020. All those who wanted to participate had been informed about the broad outline of the project, and that the whole session would be filmed. All participants, and legally authorized representatives (next of kin) when needed, gave informed and proxy consent in advance. Data from: Effect of storage condition on the physicochemical properties of corn-wheat starch / zein edible bilayer films

<p>The functional properties of biopolymer-based film packaging materials are susceptible to external storage conditions. The effects of different storage temperature, relative humidity (RH) and duration on the apparent form, barrier properties, mechanical properties and microstructure of corn-wheat starch/zein bilayer films were studied. From 0 to 150 d, storage temperature and RH, but not storage time, affected the appearance and colour of the bilayer films. The increase in haze of the bilayer films stored at 25°C was much greater than that at low temperatures. With increased storage time, the moisture content first increased and then decreased, while the water resistance and oxygen barrier properties of the bilayer films worsened. After 150 d, the bilayer film stored at 25°C with 54% RH had better water resistance properties. The oxygen barrier properties of the bilayer film stored at 25°C with 43% RH were preferable to those of other groups because the peroxide value of vegetable oil packed in the former bilayer film was the lowest. The tensile strength of bilayer films stored at 25°C with RH of 43%, 54%, and 65% decreased, but were still better than those stored at low temperatures (-17°C, 4°C), which were tough due to their high elongation at break. SEM results showed tight bonds between the bilayer films, and the network structure inside the films disappeared and reappeared during storage. The cross-sectional compactness changed, and there was no film separation after 150 d.</p>

Tuning CH3NH3Pb(I1-xBrx)3 Perovskite Oxygen Stability in Thin Films and Solar Cells

<p>The rapid development of organic-inorganic lead halide perovskites has resulted in high efficiency photovoltaic devices. However the susceptibility of these devices to degradation under environmental stress has so far hindered commercial development, requiring for example expensive device encapsulation. Herein, we have investigated the stability of CH3NH3Pb(I1-xBrx)3 [x = 0..1] thin film and solar cells under controlled humidity, light, and oxygen conditions. We show that higher bromide ratios increases tolerance to moisture, with x = 1 thin films being stable to 120 hr of moisture stress. Under light and dry air, partial bromide (x &lt; 1) subsitution does not enhance film stability significantly, with the corresponding solar cells degrading within two hours. In contrast CH3NH3PbBr3 films show excellent stability, with device stability being limited by the organic interlayer. For these x = 1 films we show charge carriers are quenched in the presence of oxygen and form superoxide; however in contrast to perovskites containing iodide, this superoxide does not degrade the crystal. Our observations show that iodide limits the oxygen and light stability of CH3NH3Pb(I1-xBrx)3 perovskites, but that CH3NH3PbBr3 provides an opportunity to develop inherently stable high voltage photovoltaic devices and 4-terminal tandem solar cells.</p>

Oxidation of thin films at the air-water interface of atmospheric aerosol

<p>X-ray reflectivity data (reflectivity vs Q) for the oxidation of insoluble organic material at the air-water interface. The organic material was extracted from atmospheric aerosol and sea water samples. The organic material was reacted with gas-phase ozone and aqueous phase hydroxyl radicals. The reflectivity data was collected at the Diamond Light source on I07 in May 2013 (SI8744) and April 2014 (SI9632) funded by STFC and NERC. The data supports a publication in Atmospheric Environment entitled “Are organic films from atmospheric aerosol and sea water inert to oxidation by ozone at the air-water interface?"</p>

<p>This dataset is part of a project under the ATMOC consortium, involving case studies of various simple one-material layers and their optical properties, particularly focusing on their interaction with light in terms of reflectivity. It encompasses samples , studied by institutions like UT Twente, IMEC, and CEA. These samples include flat&nbsp; surfaces coated with materials like Si, Mo, Ru, Al, Ru, Ni, Mo, Nb, Pt, Ta, Cr, TiN, and &nbsp;and rough thermal SiO2 on Si wafers, with thicknesses ranging from a few nanometers to several micrometers, applied through processes like PVD deposition and thermal oxidation at high temperatures.</p> <p>The dataset leverages refractive index data from the online resource "refractiveindex.info" to simulate the optical properties of these layers. The reflection of light is primarily determined by the Fresnel reflection coefficient, with additional simulations for rough surfaces using JCMWave's Finite Element Method (FEM) to understand the effects of surface roughness on light reflection. Primary setup it represents is prototype of Coherent Fourier Scatterometry (typically used for critical parameters of grating reconstruction|).</p> <p>Data are stored in .mat and .csv formats, with MATLAB scripts for generating visualizations of the model results, such as pcolor plots of intensity reflections based on variables like cover thickness and k-axis normalization. Python examples are also provided for loading and visualizing the data. The datasets aim to offer a comprehensive understanding of the optical properties of these materials and structures, supporting the development of standards and models for optical measurements and applications.&nbsp;Additionally, the dataset includes references to further studies and methodologies, such as the T-matrix approach and the Fabry-Perot formula extension, indicating a scholarly foundation in optical physics and engineering research.</p>

<p>UV-Vis:<br>The optical properties were measured from 300 nm to 800 nm. The transmittance and haze were calculated using the following equations, and the results were reported for three sets of measurements:<br>Transmittance (%) = T2/T1 &nbsp;&times; 100 &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;<br>Haze (%) = (T4/T2 - T3/T1) &times; 100 &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;<br>where &nbsp;T1 is the reference transmitted light without the sample, T2 is the total light transmitted with the presence of the sample, T3 is light beam scattering by the UV-Vis device, and T4 is the diffusive transmittance, referring to the light transmitted by both the sample and the device.&nbsp;<br>The zip files are named by noting 'UV-Vis' followed by the type of sample.</p> <p>Current density-Voltage:<br>Seven sets of measurements were conducted on perovskite solar cell (PSC) devices, comparing the performance of uncoated (noted as pristine) devices to those coated with the replica. Additionally, another seven sets of measurements compared the performance of devices with and without the replica+2%CW coating. The data are recorded in .txt files noted by 'Current density-Voltage spectra.'</p> <p>Light scattering with halogen light beam:<br>The intensity of the illuminated light is determined for the length of a horizontal line passing through the center by using image analysis. The intensities are provided for all the cases, i,e,. with no film, with plain CA film, and with the replica. The .txt file is named 'Light scattering with halogen light beam.'</p> <p>&nbsp;</p>

Comprehensive study of antimicrobial polycaprolactone/clay nanocomposite films: preparation, characterization, properties and degradation in simulated body fluid

<p>Even though the biodegradability of polycaprolactone (PCL) and its nanocomposites is lower compared to other biodegradable polyesters, this property and good biocompatibility are used for development of materials for drug delivery with a long-term effect. We prepared novel PCL/clay nanocomposite films with antimicrobials chlorhexidine (CH) or octenidine (OCT) combined with ZnO anchored on vermiculite (VER). The intercalation of CH and OCT into the interlayer of VER/ZnOVER was confirmed by XRD, FTIR and SEM. The organically modified nanofillers compared to VER (&minus;46.0&thinsp;mV) or ZnOVER (&minus;34.9&thinsp;mV) showed a positive &zeta;-potential (+30.7&thinsp;mV (VER_CH), +21.9&thinsp;mV (VER_OCT), +24.6&thinsp;mV (ZnOVER_CH)) indicating a relatively stable materials, except ZnOVER_OCT (+8.6&thinsp;mV), which strongly agglomerated.</p> <p>Thin PCL/clay films were prepared by solvent casting method and the effect of used nanofillers on structural, thermal, mechanical and antimicrobial properties followed by degradation under hydrolytic conditions was studied. The results showed that presence of ZnO significantly decreases thermal and mechanical stability. The nanofillers with the higher hydrophilic character are responsible for the fastest degradation of PCL matrix. Films possessed high antimicrobial efficiency in long time intervals, hence these nanocomposites open new avenues for the possible application of such materials for the drug delivery with a long-term effect.</p>
