Asthma control conundrum in clinical practice – Data from a two-stage Delphi survey and literature review

<p>Definitions and measures of asthma control used in clinical trials and practice often vary, as highlighted in the manuscript, &ldquo;Is asthma control more than just an absence of symptoms? An expert consensus statement&rdquo;. Furthermore, the authors discussed differences between patients and healthcare professionals (HCPs) in terms of understanding and managing asthma. Given these disparities, there is a need for consensus regarding what constitutes well-controlled asthma and, especially, how best it can be measured and recorded. This dataset describes and&nbsp;provides more detail on the methodology from a two-stage Delphi survey and a structured literature review, which were designed to reach a consensus definition of asthma control and alleviate misalignments between patients and HCPs.</p>

SNAPP- Diseases in wild South American camelids Literature Review Datasets

<p><strong>SNAPP Diseases in wild South American camelids project</strong>: Vicu&ntilde;as (<em>Vicugna vicugna</em>) and guanacos (<em>Lama guanicoe</em>) are the two species of wild South American&nbsp;camelids whose distribution ranges from southern Argentina and Chile to central Peru. Declines in guanaco and vicu&ntilde;a populations have been recently associated with outbreaks of sarcoptic mange infections, impacting the health and conservation of South American Camelids (CSAs).&nbsp;Recognizing that the greatest challenges to conservation and sustainable development require innovative solutions, we have been forming a working group Andean Camelid Disease&nbsp;to collaboratively find management strategies to control sarcoptic mange to promote the health of CSA, their ecosystems, surrounding livestock, and&nbsp;the members of Andean communities that rely on the management of these species.&nbsp;In this perspective, we review the current knowledge on sarcoptic mange in CSAs&nbsp;and identify existing knowledge gaps.&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Datasets created and used in the SNAPP Diseases in Wild South American camelids project</strong> (https://snappartnership.net/teams/andean-camelid-disease/)<br> This repository contains the databases (BD) generated from the systematic review of published information, including the metadata of each of them, the basic description of the methodology used, and files with the description of the information obtained.</p> <p><strong>BD_SNAP-CSA_RevSiste_ResumenCalidad.xlsx:</strong> BD with the description of each of the documents worked on in the systematic review, including a detailed summary of the objectives, methodology, results, and conclusions. Smart home adoption factors: A systematic literature review and research agenda

<p>Smart homes represent the complement of various automation technologies that together make up a network of devices facilitating the daily tasks of residents. These technologies are being studied for their application from different sectors, including the projection of their use to improve energy consumption planning and health care management. However, technology adoption depends on social awareness within the scope of cognitive advantages and innovations compared to perceived risk because although there are multiple benefits, potential users express fears related to the loss of autonomy and security. This study carries out a systematic literature review based on PRISMA in order to analyze research trends and literary evolution in the technological adoption of smart homes, considering the main theories and variables applied by the community. In proposing a research agenda in accordance with the identified gaps and the growing and emerging themes of the object of study, it is worth highlighting the growing interest in the subject, both for the present and its development in the future. Until now, adoption factors have been attributed more to the technological acceptance model and the diffusion of innovation theory, adopting components of the Theory of Planned Behavior; therefore, in several cases, the attributes of different theories are merged to adapt to the needs of each researcher, promoting the creation of empirical and extended models.</p>

Biological invasions: a field synopsis, systematic review, and database of the literature

Species introductions of anthropogenic origins are a major aspect of rapid ecological change globally. Research on biological invasions has generated literature on many different aspects of this phenomenon. This literature is enormous and has grown rapidly since the mid‐twentieth century. Therefore, we created this dataset in order to describe and categorize some aspects of this literature, to better understand what has been studied and what we know, mapping well‐studied areas and important gaps. To do so, we employed the techniques of systematic reviewing widely adopted in other scientific disciplines. We identified 2398 relevant studies in a field synopsis of the biological invasions literature. The purpose of the field synopsis was to map and categorize the scope of available information (and what is not known) from the literature addressing a fundamental understanding of biological invasions. We then examined 1537 papers in greater detail in a systematic review. The systematic review addressed the state of our knowledge about the mechanisms that permit species to invade novel environments. We carried this out by attempting to identify and characterize the literature, including what hypotheses have been tested, and what organisms and systems have been studied. A secondary goal of our work was to create a publicly accessible database of this literature for future research.

Systematic review of near-term ecological forecasting literature published between 1932 and 2020

This data publication includes results and code from a systematic review of near-term ecological forecasting literature. The study had two primary goals: (1) analyze the state of near-term ecological forecasting literature, and (2) compare forecast skill across ecosystems and variables. We began by conducting a Web of Science search for “forecast*” in the title, abstract, and keywords of all papers published in ecological journals, then screened all papers from this search to identify near-term ecological forecasts. We defined a near-term ecological forecast as future predictions of community, population, or biogeochemical variables ≤ 10 years from the forecast date. To more broadly survey the literature, we then searched all papers that cited or were cited by the near-term ecological forecasts we identified. We performed an in-depth review of all near-term ecological forecasting papers identified through this search process, and recorded forecast skill data for all papers that reported R or R2. Our results indicate that the rate of publication of near-term ecological forecasts is increasing over time and the field is becoming increasingly open and automated. Across published forecasts, we find that forecast skill decreases in predictable patterns and these patterns differ between forecast variables. This data publication includes three products from this analysis: (1) a database of all papers identified in the two searches, including our assessment of whether they included an ecological focal variable, included a forecast, and whether the forecast was near-term (≤10 years), (2) a matrix of all data collected on the near-term ecological forecasts we identified, and (3) a database of R2 values for papers that reported R or R2.

Many studies that empirically evaluate the performance of such FaaS platforms have started to appear but we are currently lacking a comprehensive understanding of the overall domain. To address this gap, we conducted a multivocal literature review (MLR) covering 112 studies from academic (51) and grey (61) literature. We find that existing work mainly studies the AWS Lambda platform and focuses on micro-benchmarks using simple functions to measure CPU speed and FaaS platform overhead (i.e., container cold starts). Further, we discover a mismatch between academic and industrial sources on tested platform configurations, find that function triggers remain insufficiently studied, and identify HTTP API gateways and cloud storages as the most used external service integrations. Following existing guidelines on experimentation in cloud systems, we discover many flaws threatening the reproducibility of experiments presented in the surveyed studies. Data from: Biocultural approaches to sustainability: a systematic review of the scientific literature

Current sustainability challenges demand approaches that acknowledge a plurality of human-nature interactions and worldviews, for which biocultural approaches are considered appropriate and timely. This systematic review analyses the application of biocultural approaches to sustainability in scientific journal articles published between 1990 and 2018 through a mixed methods approach combining qualitative content analysis and quantitative multivariate methods. The study identifies seven distinct biocultural lenses, i.e. different ways of understanding and applying biocultural approaches, which to different degrees consider the key aspects of sustainability science - inter and transdisciplinarity, social justice and normativity. The review suggests that biocultural approaches in sustainability science need to move from describing how nature and culture are co-produced to co-producing knowledge for sustainability solutions, and in so doing, better account for questions of power, gender and transformations, which has been largely neglected thus far.

Agile Global Software Development: A Systematic Literature Review

<p>Global Software Development (GSD) continues to grow substantially and it is fast becoming the norm and fundamentally different from local Software Engineering development. Withal, agile software development (ASD) has become an appealing choice for companies attempting to improve their performance although its methods were originally designed for small and individual teams. The current literature does not provide a cohesive picture of how the agile practices are taken into account in the distributed nature of software development: how to do it, who, and what works in practice. This study aims to highlight how ASD practices are applied in the context of GSD in order to develop a set of techniques that can be relevant in both research and practice. To answer the research question, &quot;how are agile practices adopted in agile global software development teams?&#39;&quot;&nbsp;We conducted a systematic literature review of the ASD and GSD literature. A synthesis of solutions found in seventy-six studies provided 48 distinct practices that organizations can implement, including &quot;collaboration among teams&quot;, &quot;agile architecture&#39;&quot;, &quot;coaching&quot;, &quot;system demo&quot;&nbsp;and &quot;test automation&quot;. These implementable practices go some way towards providing solutions to manage GSD teams, and thus to embrace agility.</p>

Nivolumab-associated acute glomerulonephritis: Case report and literature review

<p><strong>Background:</strong> Immune checkpoint inhibitors are changing the landscape of oncologic treatment as they are significantly improving treatment of multiple malignancies. Nivolumab, anti PD-1 antibody, is FDA-approved for treatment of melanoma, non-small cell lung cancer and kidney cancer and can cause a spectrum of autoimmune reaction. The adverse effect can occur at any organ system in the body, but most commonly affects colon, lung, liver or endocrine system. Although rare, kidneys also can be involved.</p> <p><strong>Case presentation: </strong>A 70 year old male with clear cell kidney cancer was admitted with acute kidney injury while he was receiving nivolumab treatment. A kidney biopsy revealed diffuse tubular injury and immune complex mediated glomerulonephritis. Electron microscopic exam of the specimen demonstrated hump-like subepithelial deposits. Nivolumab was discontinued and the patient was started on high dose steroid. After 5 months of systemic corticosteroid and hemodialysis, patient&rsquo;s kidney function improved to his baseline. In spite of the prolonged treatment interruption, immunosuppressive therapy did not compromise the anticancer effect of nivolumab.</p> <p><strong>Conclusion: </strong>Immune-related adverse effect in kidney can cause autoimmune glomerulonephritis as well as tubulo-interstitial injury. In previous literature, immune-related nephritis generally responded well to systemic corticosteroid. Based our experience, prolonged course of high dose of steroid and hemodialysis may be required to achieve adequate treatment effect.&nbsp;</p>
