Effects of supervised exercise training during pregnancy on psychological well-being among overweight and obese women: Secondary analyses of the ETIP-trial, a randomized controlled trial.
<p><b>Objectives: </b>Women with high body mass index (BMI) have increased risk for symptoms of anxiety and depression during pregnancy and postpartum. In this pre-specified secondary analysis from the ETIP trial, our aim was to examine effects of supervised exercise during pregnancy on psychological well-being in late pregnancy and postpartum among women with a pre-pregnancy BMI ≥ 28 kg/m<sup>2</sup>.</p> <p><b>Design: </b>Single-centre, parallel group, randomized controlled trial.</p> <p><b>Setting: </b>University Hospital, Norway</p> <p><b>Participants: </b><a name="_Hlk10799837">Ninety-one women (age 31.2±4.1 years, BMI 34.5±4.2 kg/m<sup>2</sup>), 46 in the exercise group, 45 in the control group, were included in the trial. </a></p> <p><b>Intervention:</b> The exercise group was offered three weekly supervised exercise sessions (35 minutes of moderate intensity walking/running and 25 minutes of resistance training), until delivery.</p> <p><b>Primary and secondary outcomes measures:</b> Primary analyses were based on intention to treat, with secondary per-protocol analyses. To assess psychological well-being, we used the «Psychological General Well-Being Index» (PGWBI) at inclusion (gestational week 12-18), late pregnancy (gestational week 34-37), and three months postpartum. We assessed postpartum depression using the «Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale» (EDPS).</p> <p><b>Results:</b> Numbers completed data collection: Late pregnancy 72 (exercise 38, control 36), postpartum 70 (exercise 36, control 34). In the exercise group, 50% adhered to the exercise protocol. Baseline PGWBI for all women was 76.4±12.6. Late pregnancy PGWBI; exercise 76.6 (95% CI 72.2, 81.0), control 74.0 (95% CI 69.4, 78.5) (<i>p</i> = 0.42). Postpartum PGWBI; exercise 85.4 (95% CI 81.9, 88.8), control 84.6 (95% CI 80.8, 88.4) (with no between-group difference, <i>p</i> = 0.77). There was no between-group difference in EDPS; exercise 2.96 (95% CI 1.7, 4.2), control 3.48 (95% CI 2.3, 4.7) (<i>p</i> = 0.55).</p> <p><b>Conclusions: </b>We found no effect of supervised exercise during pregnancy on psychological well-being among women with high BMI. Our findings may be hampered by low adherence to the exercise protocol.</p>
Data from: Genotyping-by-sequencing provides the first well-resolved phylogeny for coffee (Coffea) and insights into the evolution of caffeine content in its species: GBS coffee phylogeny and the evolution of caffeine content
A comprehensive and meaningful phylogenetic hypothesis for the commercially important coffee genus (Coffea) has long been a key objective for coffee researchers. For molecular studies, progress has been limited by low levels of sequence divergence, leading to insufficient topological resolution and statistical support in phylogenetic trees, particularly for the major lineages and for the numerous species occurring in Madagascar. We report here the first almost fully resolved, broadly sampled phylogenetic hypothesis for coffee, the result of combining genotyping-by-sequencing (GBS) technology with a newly developed, lab-based workflow to integrate short read next-generation sequencing for low numbers of additional samples. Biogeographic patterns indicate either Africa or Asia (or possibly the Arabian Peninsula) as the most likely ancestral locality for the origin of the coffee genus, with independent radiations across Africa, Asia, and the Western Indian Ocean Islands (including Madagascar and Mauritius). The evolution of caffeine, an important trait for commerce and society, was evaluated in light of our phylogeny. High and consistent caffeine content is found only in species from the equatorial, fully humid environments of West and Central Africa, possibly as an adaptive response to increased levels of pest predation. Moderate caffeine production, however, evolved at least one additional time recently (between 2 and 4 Mya) in a Madagascan lineage, which suggests that either the biosynthetic pathway was already in place during the early evolutionary history of coffee, or that caffeine synthesis within the genus is subject to convergent evolution, as is also the case for caffeine synthesis in coffee versus tea and chocolate.

<p>Logging data are measurements of physical properties of the formation surrounding a borehole, acquired in situ after completion of coring (wireline logging) or during drilling (Logging-While-Drilling, LWD). The range of data (resistivity, gamma radiation, velocity, density, borehole images,…) in any hole depends on the scientific objectives and operational constraints.</p>
Determinging the effect of mashing regime, protease and carbohydrase additions on viscosity development during gelatinisation of faba bean starch as well as on wort run off rate
<p>(i) and (ii) Preliminary experiments have found that when faba bean accounts for a high proportion of the beer recipe the efficiency of the mashing step is negatively impacted with slow solid removal and reduced yields. The addition of commercial enzymes is an established practice to increase levels of fermentable sugars, nitrogen availability and wort run off rate therefore enzymatic additions have been trialled on faba bean wort.<br> (iii) 2019<br> (iv) Vicia faba<br> (v) N/A<br> (vi) A rheometer method has been developed to recreate two typical mashing regimes. Samples are milled to produce a fine grist. A fixed amount of the grist is then used to form a slurry with a calculated weight of water with enzyme additions and run on a pre-set rheometer programme. The programme consists of an initial rapid stir followed by continuous stirring as one of two potential mashing temperature regimes are followed. The slurry is then filtered and the volume of filtrate recorded over time.<br> (vii) An ANOVA confirmed that all three enzymes were necessary for a significant reduction in the wort flow rate. <br> (viii) Complete</p>
