Guatemala Soil Organic Carbon Database (0 to 30 cm, 1965-2010).
The soil organic carbon database is a harmonized and structured data set with information about soil organic carbon (SOC), soil bulk density (BD), and coarse fragments (CF). The SOC, BD, and CF data were fitted to one standard depth of 0-30 cm using a mass preservation spline implemented in R programmation language. The data was obtained from Unidad de Planificación Geográfica y Gestión de Riesgo of Ministerio de Agricultura Ganadería y Alimentación (UPGGR-MAGA), Facultad de Agronomía of Universidad de San Carlos de Guatemala (CEDIA-FAUSAC), and the World Soil Information Service (WoSIS). This database covers the entire Guatemalan territory, although its distribution does not represent all ecosystems, soil types, and coverages/land use. It contains 910 observations of SOC, 704 of them have BD information, and 8 have CF information. The entire data set has information on the year of observation, and its temporal distribution goes from 1965 to 2010. Nearly 50% is in the decade 2000-2010, and 41% is in the 2010 year. In addition, the analytical methods for quantifying SOC, BD, and CF are available in 99, 25, and 0% of the data, respectively. SOC contents range from 1.45 to 162 g*kg^-1, BD values from 0.42 to 1.69 g*cm^-3, and CF values from 0 to 21%wt.
Hubbard Brook Experimental Forest: Tree component masses sampled west of watershed 6 by Whittaker et al in 1965
In the summer of 1965, Whittaker et al. sampled 93 trees west of watershed 6 at the Hubbard Brook Experimental Forest. Allometric equations modeling the biomass of various components in relation to diameter and height were published in 1974 in Ecological Monographs, and form the basis for most subsequent biomass estimates at Hubbard Brook and in many other northeastern locations. The data posted here are oven-dry biomass data by component by tree. These Hubbard Brook allometry data have been included in the following two larger allometry databases: Falster, D.S. et al, 2015. BAAD: a Biomass And Allometry Database for woody plants. Ecology 96, 1445. <ulink url="https://doi.org/10.1890/141889.1">https://doi.org/10.1890/141889.1</ulink> Kattge, J. et al, 2020. The HBES is a collaborative effort at the Hubbard Brook Experimental Forest, which is operated and maintained by the USDA Forest Service, Northern Research Station.
Forest Inventory of a Northern Hardwood Forest: Watershed 6 1965, Hubbard Brook Experimental Forest
Forest inventory surveys were initiated in 1965, repeated in 1977, and repeated at 5 year intervals after that. This is the initial data set and was collected in summer of 1965. The inventory consists of a total inventory of all trees >= 1.5 cm diameter-at-breast-height (dbh) on the whole of the watershed (13.23 ha), as measured in each of the 208 25 m x 25 m plots. Shrubs, seedlings and small saplings were also surveyed. These data were gathered as part of the Hubbard Brook Ecosystem Study (HBES). The HBES is a collaborative effort at the Hubbard Brook Experimental Forest, which is operated and maintained by the USDA Forest Service, Northern Research Station.

1/8˚ resolution MOM6-COBALT physical and biogeochemical diagnostics interpolated to 1˚, monthly means between 1965-2017

Data was extracted from a global grid run with coupled ocean-ice model configured using the Modular Ocean Model 6 (MOM6, https://github.com/NOAA-GFDL/MOM6 ) and Sea Ice Simulator (SIS2) developed at the NOAA Geophysical Fluid Dynamics Laboratory (Adcroft et al., 2019). The horizontal resolution of the grid is 1/8˚, which is considered eddying and no eddy parameterization was included. Vertically, the model uses 75 hybrid vertical-sigma2 layer coordinates that is remapped onto 35 World Ocean Atlas/Coupled Model Intercomparison Project standard depth levels. The atmospheric forcing was derived from the Japanese 55-year Reanalysis version 1.5 (JRA55 1.5, https://jra.kishou.go.jp/JRA-55/index_en.html#jra-55). The model is driven by river freshwater runoff from a monthly climatology derived from Dai and Trenberth (2002) and Dai et al. (2009), which can be assessed at https://rda.ucar.edu/datasets/ds551.0/. A remapping scheme was used to add freshwater into the appropriate coastal grid cells near the river mouths. The biogeochemical model used was the Carbon, Ocean Biogeochemistry and Lower Trophics (COBALTv2, Stock et al., 2020), which uses 33 tracers for representation of coupled elemental cycles of carbon, nitrogen, phosphorus, iron, silicon, alkalinity, oxygen and lithogenic matter and associated plankton food web dynamics. More details about the model setup are described in Liu et al. (2019) and Liu et al. (2021). This work was part of a PMEL-led project "A Pilot BGC Argo Float Array in the California Current Large Marine Ecosystem" funded by NOAA Research. This dataset contains dissolved oxygen, nitrate, temperature and salinity data interpolated to monthly means with 1˚ latitude/longitude horizontal resolution, between 1965-2017.

References:

Adcroft, A., Anderson, W., Blanton, C., Bushuk, M., Dufour, C.O., Dunne, J.P., Griffies, S.M. et al.
