Chacefield Wood 1 - Cups, Rings & Querns
There are obvious cup and ring marks on this rock, taken to be rock art. however, there is also evidence that quernstones have been extracted at different periods. On the top of the rock to the S there appears to be an early stage quern roughout in place. Directly beneath the cup and ring marks is a bowl where a quern has been extracted and there is a cut out section of rock to the NE at the bottom of the outcrop where a quen extraction has taken place. Unoticed before, there is a small boss on the SE corner of the outcrop wich shows some worn tools marks around its edge. It stands slighly proud of the top surface of the outcrop suggesting that the whole surface has been reworked and lowered. If correct, this would mean that the 'cup & ring marks' post-dates this reworking and suggests that the rings may have a more prosaic explanation than as being rock art. Easter Aquhorthies 'cup marks'
This is model of the outer face of the 2.5m west flanker of the East Aquhorthies Recumbent stone circle, Inverurie, Scotland. Three possible cup marks are noted on Canmore and the site information panel as being on this stone. However, these cup marks appear to be natural features. The recumbent stone circle measures 20m from ESE to WNW by 18.5m transversely overall and is one of the few with its full complement of stones, comprising the recumbent setting on the SSW and nine orthostats. The recumbent measures about 4m in length by 1.55m in height, and its spectacular leading face is shot with white bars of quartz (slickensides). Behind the recumbent two large slabs are set on edge at roughly right-angles to it and flush with its ends. The two flankers, standing 2.5m and 2.15m high respectively, are the tallest stones in the ring. Cup Mark Array - Algarve, Portugal
This rectangular array of cup marks was seen on the surface of the outcrop that the five tombs in the Necropole da Carrasqueira are cut into. There are 12 visible cup marks but there may have originally been perhaps 6 to 8 more as a section of the rock surface next to the array has spalled away. The indented edges of the spalled area indicate the probabable positions and extent of now erased cup marks. There are five rock-cut tombs on this outcrop, of Visigoth age (C5-6th). Two other separate and much larger cup marks were found on other parts of the outcrop. Source: Objaverse 1.0 / Sketchfab

Migvie Cup Marked Stone
Cup marked stone within grounds of Migvie Kirk, Aberdeenshire. Canmore ID 16999 'On the present upper surface of the boulder, which measures 1m by 0.92m and at least 0.5m in thickness, there are up to 42 cupmarks measuring a maximum of 55m in diameter (but averaging about 40mm in diameter) and about 10mm in depth. One further cup, measures 95mm in diameter, and is linked by short lengths of channel to three of the smaller cups to form a small cross. In addition, three of the larger cups have merged to form an L-shape with arms about 140mm in length. A similar but slightly more amorphous feature, close to the present N edge of the stone, measures 210mm by 150mm.' ScRAP 2089 NJ 43688 06829 Source: Objaverse 1.0 / Sketchfab
