During development the Sku6 mutant roots engage different genes than wild type Col-0 roots either on the ground or in spaceflight.

The wild type Col-0 plants and the Sku-6 mutant plants of the Col-0 background were germinated on ISS or on the ground and the gene expression profiles in roots at 4 days or 8 days were established. The Sku6 gene (At2g03680) codes for a protein that localizes to microtubule within the cortical array and putatively acting as an intramolecular linker. The development of Col-0 and Sku-6 plants on orbit differs from that on the ground as demonstrated by the comparison of the gene expression profiles between 4 days old to 8 days old plant in the two environments. However the development of Sku-6 mutant plants also differs from Col-0 at either age and in either environment suggesting the role of the genetic background in these developmental decisions. The 4 days old Sku-6 roots in orbit engaged more genes than the 4 days old Col-0 roots in orbit but also more than the 4 days old Sku-6 roots on the ground. Overall the 4 days old roots differentially expressed more genes in spaceflight relative to ground than the 8 days old roots of either genotype.

JPSS-1 CrIS IMG_COL: Array indices for collocated VIIRS observations V2 (SNDRJ1CrISL1BIMGC) at GES DISC

The Cross-track Infrared Sounder (CrIS) Level 1B Full Spectral Resolution (FSR) data files contain radiance measurements along with ancillary spacecraft, instrument, and geolocation data of the CrIS instrument on the Joint Polar Satellite System-1 (JPSS-1) platform. This platform is also know as NOAA-20 (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration). The JPSS-1 mission with CrIS instrumentation is a follow-on to the Suomi National Polar-orbiting Partnership (SNPP) mission. The CrIS instrumentation and data processing system is nearly identical to that of the SNPP satellite. The FSR files have 2,223 channels (*2211 apodized channels): 637 (*633) shortwave channels from 3.9 to 4.7 microns (2555 to 2150 cm-1), 869 (*865) midwave channels from 5.7 to 8.05 microns (1752.5 to 1242.5 cm-1), and 717 (*713)longwave channels from 9.1 to 15.41 microns (1096.25 to 648.75 cm-1). Each CrIS field-of-regard (FOR) contains 9 field-of-views (FOVs) arranged in a 3X3 array. The Level 1B files contain 30 FORs in the cross track direction and 45 in the along track direction. Data products are constructed on six minute boundaries.The Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) has 22 imaging and radiometric bands covering wavelengths from 0.41 to 12.5 microns. It provides the sensor data records for clouds, sea surface temperature, ocean color, and others. This IMG_COL product contains the colocation indices of the VIIRS pixels within each CrIS footprint.

Aircraft Flux-Filtered: Univ. Col. (FIFE)

The NCAR King Air participation in FIFE-1987 and FIFE-1989 was part of a coordinated atmospheric boundary layer component which included other aircraft, surface measurements, balloon-borne profiles, and SODAR and lidar remote sensing. The chief objective of the boundary layer component was to describe the structure of the atmospheric boundary layer over the FIFE study area, increase knowledge of the physical processes active in the daytime boundary layer, and explore the relationship of surface properties to the time and spatial variation in the structure of the boundary layer. The phenomena studied were the daytime convective boundary layer structure and physical processes. This study used airborne measurement of vertical and horizontal wind gusts, humidity, potential temperature, mean horizontal wind speed, and horizontal linear trends of temperature, humidity, radiation. Fluxes of sensible heat, moisture, and momentum were estimated from fast response wind gust, temperature, and humidity measurements; these fluxes were evaluated from data which had been high pass filtered with a third order algorithm with a break point set at 0.012 Hz (5 km wavelength). Several radiation parameters were also measured (e.g., global short and longwave, upwelling, and downwelling). Altitude of the aircraft was measured by radar and pressure; radar was more accurate but was only valid below about 930 m. Geographical position was measured by an inertial navigation system. All level legs of a flight mission were flown at a constant pressure altitude, thus the altitude of the aircraft over the surface varied. In general, the data set is of excellent overall quality with very little loss of data. Vertical winds were sampled at an effective rate of 5 samples per second instead of the customary 10 samples per second; this had negligible effect on the fluxes but could compromise estimates of turbulence dissipation. From extensive analysis the FIFE Boundary Layer Group recommends using the detrended data rather than the filtered data.

S-NPP CrIS IMG_COL: Array indices for collocated VIIRS observations V2 (SNDRSNCrISL1BIMGC) at GES DISC

The Cross-track Infrared Sounder (CrIS) Level 1B Normal Spectral Resolution (NSR) data files contain radiance measurements along with ancillary spacecraft, instrument, and geolocation data of the CrIS instrument on the Suomi National Polar-orbiting Partnership Project (SNPP). In December 2014, the CrIS instrument on the SNPP satellite doubled the spectral resolution of shortwave infrared data being transmitted to the ground. In November 2015, additional points were included at the ends of the longwave and shortwave interferograms to improve the quality of the calibration. Prior to November 2, 2015 the data are only available in Normal Spectral Resolution, after November 2, 2015 at 16:06 UTC, the data are available in both NSR and Full Spectral Resolution (FSR). The NSR files have 1,317 channels: 163 shortwave channels from 3.9 to 4.7 microns (2555 to 2150 cm-1), 437 midwave channels from 5.7 to 8.05 microns (1752.5 to 1242.5 cm-1), and 717 longwave channels from 9.1 to 15.41 microns (1096.25 to 648.75 cm-1).
