Urban Heat: Forward-Looking Climate Modeling for Nis, Serbia
<p>We produced actionable data on heat stress in cities to inform analysis and client dialogue on the part of World Bank teams. We applied an urban-scale climate modeling framework to generate datasets describing modeled heat stress exposure for <strong>present-day and future conditions</strong> under selected climate scenarios (<strong>present, SSP1-1.9, SSP3-7.0</strong>). The study domain focuses on Nis, Serbia.</p> <p>More details about the dataset: </p> <ul> <li>The dataset includes calculations for each indicator across three scenarios (<strong>present, SSP1-1.9, SSP3-7.0</strong>) and three twenty-year periods (<strong>2001-2020, 2021-2040, and 2041-2060</strong>). The present period refers to 2001-2020, while the other two periods correspond to the two SSP scenarios.</li> <li>All indicators are available in both <strong>NetCDF</strong> and <strong>GeoTiff</strong> formats.</li> <li>The indicators are calculated at a resolution of <strong>150 m</strong>, consistent with the UrbClim and WBGT simulations. Additionally, downscaled versions of the indicators are provided at a resolution of <strong>30 m</strong>.</li> <li>The UrbClim and WBGT simulations, as well as the postprocessing, are conducted using the regional projection <strong>E</strong><strong>PSG 32634</strong>. The NetCDF and GeoTiff data also adopt this projection. Furthermore, a GeoTiff data file with <strong>EPSG 4326</strong> projection is included.</li> <li>All indicators are calculated as <strong>yearly averages</strong>. Some indicators also have additional calculations for <strong>seasonal averages</strong>, including Spring (MAM), Summer (JJA), Autumn (SON), and Winter (DJF).</li> <li>Images for <strong>quick viewing</strong> <strong>in</strong> <strong>png</strong> format visualizing the results for each indicator. Narattive On the Exibition Turning over the Pages of Time: Jewish Periodicals in Serbia (1888-2016)
<p>The Jewish periodicals in Serbia from different aspects provide general and factual information on the history, culture, religion and the national and political preferences of a nation that lived in a small country with a rough history, due to certain geopolitical circumstances. Unfortunately, they also bear from within a harsh reality of the immense and inconceivable tragedy of the Holocaust. Fortunately, the tragedy did not mean the complete end of everything, so even nowadays, one can periodically hear the voice that was supposed to be silenced, as a renewed hope and faith in the life and survival of the Jewish community in Serbia. These 76 titles contain historical narratives relating to the destiny of both individual people and whole Jewish communities in various towns and regions of Serbia then and now.</p>

Fore wing images of honey bees (Apis mellifera) from Serbia
<p>The dataset consists of 2282 fore wing images of honey bee (<i>Apis mellifera</i>) workers. The wing images represent 60 colonies. Each of the colonies was collected in a different location in Serbia. The wing images are compressed in RS_21_80-wing-images.zip. Raw coordinates of 19 landmarks marked on the wings are in file RS_21_80-raw-coordinates.csv. Additional data, including geographic coordinates and resolution, is saved in file RS_21_80-data.csv.</p>

This tombston is from a vine region that got quite affluent during The Great French Wine Blight, mid-19th century, showing off in elaborate tombstones. It has been moved to a church yard in nearby Negotin. My son's first 3D model and Blender project. Selo Rajac se nalazi između Zaječara i Negotina, severoistočna Srbija. Od Zaječara je udaljeno 50, a od Negotina 25 km. Prema jugozapadu na kraju kompleksa vinarija na Belom bregu pored Timoka, nalazi se seosko groblje sa oko 200 starih nadgrobnih spomenika iz XIX veka, izuzetno očuvanih, vrednih i jedinstvenih u Srbiji. Najčešći bareljef motiv je krst prikazan u različitim, sasvim razrađenim načinima, u kombinaciji sa slovima IS HS NI KA, a slika simbolizuje golgotu, krst, raspeće. Često postoje rozete koje simbolizuju Sunce, krug, svastiku, nazubljene trake i cik-cak linije, pojednostavljene i stilizovane grane, vinovu lozu i slomljene linije. Diversity of parasitoid wasps (Insecta, Hymenoptera) in oilseed rape fields in Serbia
<p>Oilseed rape is an important crop grown worldwide and used for various purposes, including oil extraction and animal feed. In Europe, there are six major pest species and several other minor pests that can significantly affect oilseed rape production, requiring growers to effectively control them in order to ensure crop yield. The host-parasitoid complexes of these pests have been studied in detail and recorded mainly in western, central and northern Europe. As an abundant source of pollen and nectar, oilseed rape may also be attractive to other parasitoids that do not have direct trophic interactions with oilseed rape pest species. The aim of this study is to fill the knowledge gap regarding the wider parasitoid community in oilseed rape fields, particularly in southern Europe.</p> <p>During the two-year study, a total of 3135 specimens of primary and secondary parasitoids were sampled, of which 2855 were found in oilseed rape fields and 280 in semi-natural habitats. We found 153 taxa, of which 119 were found in oilseed rape fields and 87 in semi-natural habitats. We identified 31 genera (33 species) as parasitoids of oilseed rape pests, 54 genera (97 species) parasitising non-pest species and 10 genera (23 species) as possible parasitoids of oilseed rape pests. This study shows that the parasitoid community in oilseed rape fields is very diverse and that includes parasitoids of both oilseed rape pest and non-pest species.</p>

Questionnaire on COVID pandemic influence at attitude and prevalence of plant-based food products consumption in Serbia
<p>An anonymous online questionnaire that contained 16 open-ended and closed-ended questions was used to assess the influence of the COVID-19 pandemic on 1) eating behavior and dietary habits changes concerning various plant-based foods; 2) frequency of consumption of herbal teas and dietary supplements; 3) quantity of traditionally pickled plant-based food prepared for the winter period, and 4) the general attitude toward diet, plant-based food, natural products, and dietary supplements.</p> <p> </p>
