What to call people involved in citizen science projects? - extended version

The diagram summarises terms used for referring to participants of citizen science activities as well as typical critiques on these terms. It thus shows - there is no on "correct" terminology. Adequate terms should relate to the self-understanding of participants - for this reason it is recommended to do research, get feedback and make decisions jointly.

A German version of this diagram is available here: http://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.5031929

This work is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International Licence (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/). The Original was published in »Citizen Science Terminology Matters: Exploring Key Terms« von Eitzel et al. 2017 (https://t1p.de/hqss). The extention is based on a study on participatory research in humanities and social science with additional terms/critiques from these domains as well as contributors who remained invisible so far (final row).

More information: https://www.hof.uni-halle.de/projekte/socis/
