"Thomas cup" from the Berlin city hall
**Silver puzzle cup from 1690** The foot of the funnel-shaped vessel is formed by an eagle (Cölln) and a bear (Berlin) standing upright, which embrace and kiss each other deeply. The initials "R V C F" and "1690" are entwined under the foot. The initials probably refer to the councils of Berlin, Cölln, Friedrichswerder, which existed in 1690 as an urban community and held joint deliberations on St. Thomas's Day, December 21. The rim of the vessel is of openwork design, so that the contents can only be drunk if the rim is put very deep into the mouth. In the outermost rim there are three small openings, which are connected to the cavity of the vessel wall, such as the eagle and the bear; if you tilt the vessel while trying to drink, the contents of the wall cavity will flow out of these holes. The remains of a formerly splendid hall situated in the Peak District Goyt Valley. The South West Peak Landscape Partnership are currently developing an App to allow visitors to get a 3D view of what this hall would have looked like when in its heyday. A recent version of <a href="https://www.mathworks.com/products/matlab.html">Matlab</a> is recommended.</p> <p>The HODMD outputs are collected within 18 different files, subdivided into three groups, each one referring to a different case. For the file names, "case1" refers to the nominal case, "case2" refers to the low voltage case and "case3" refers to the high mass flow rate case. Following, the variables are referred as:</p> <ul> <li>"n" for plasma density</li> <li>"Te" for electron temperature</li> <li>"phi" for plasma potential</li> <li>"ji" for ion current density (both single and double charged ones)</li> <li>"nn" for neutral density</li> <li>"Ez" for axial electric field</li> <li>"Si" for ionization production term</li> <li>"vi1" for single charged ions axial velocity</li> </ul> <p>In particular, axial electric field, ionization production term and single charged ions axial velocity are available only for the first case. Such files have a cell structure: the first row contains the frequencies (in Hz), the second row contains the normalized modes (alongside their complex conjugates), the third row collects the growth rates (in 1/s) while the amplitudes (dimensionalized) are collected within the last row.
