As the mechanical admittance is defined as v/F (speed over force) the acceleration signal has to be integrated. The here captured signals are integrated in the frequency domain, what means the magnitude is divided by the corresponding frequency value in s-1. Historical Person Register, Tyrol 15th, 16th century

The dataset consists of a file in CSV format (UTF 8). The historical person register contains late medieval / ENHG person names within the Tyrolean mining documents Hs. 37 and Hs. 1587 (15th and 16th century) as well as a modern standardisation of the names. The persons received unique Identifiers. The names are also split into title, first name, last name, occupation and descriptor. Furthermore, the year is added, provenance if available, and alternate writings of the names within the text.

The project “Text Mining Medieval Mining Texts” (2019-2022) processed two historical mining sources: “Verleihbuch der Rattenberger Bergrichter” ( Hs. 37, 1460-1463) and “Schwazer Berglehenbuch” (Hs. 1587, approx. 1515) stored by the Tyrolean Regional Archive, Innsbruck (Austria). The central research objective of T.M.M.M.T. is the extraction and representation of the legal relationships between people, claims and mines over space and time. Collection of Middle High German Rubrics in Miscellany Manuscripts 12th-16th centuries

This is a collection of Middle High German Rubrics from miscellany manuscripts.

The corpus for this study comprises almost 1432 rubrics from 68 manuscripts, which correspond to over 800 different works. It was compiled manually using different sources. One important source were previous monographs that catalogued texts and rubrics in manuscripts (see bibliography). For less researched sources, library catalogues and digital manuscript facsimili were consulted. This is not an exhaustive corpus of Middle High German rubrics for Reimpaargedichte, but it has all the most important manuscripts and is very representative.

Files

rubrics.csv: Main file, list of rubrics with reference to the modern title of the literary work to which they correspond and the manuscript. Titles are in paleographic transcription (without abbreviations) and lemmatised.

works.csv: A list of all the works refered in the rubrics.csv file with information about author and genre

manuscripts.csv: A list of manuscripts mentioned in rubrics.csv. Contains information about date of composition and language.

Bibliography:

Dahm-Kruse, Margit. Die Sammlung als Kontext. Knowledge Graph: tyrolean mining documents 15th and 16th century

The dataset contains a Knowledge Graph (.nq file) of two historical mining documents: “Verleihbuch der Rattenberger Bergrichter” ( Hs. 37, 1460-1463) and “Schwazer Berglehenbuch” (Hs. 1587, approx. 1515) stored by the Tyrolean Regional Archive, Innsbruck (Austria). The user of the KG may explore the montanistic network and relations between people, claims and mines in the late medieval Tyrol. The core regions concern the districts Schwaz and Kufstein (Tyrol, Austria).

The ontology used to represent the claims is CIDOC CRM, an ISO certified ontology for Cultural Heritage documentation. Supported by the Karma tool the KG is generated as RDF (Resource Description Framework). The generated RDF data is imported into a Triplestore, in this case GraphDB, and then displayed visually. This puts the data from the early mining texts into a semantically structured context and makes the mutual relationships between people, places and mines visible.

Both documents and the Knowledge Graph were processed and generated by the research team of the project “Text Mining Medieval Mining Texts”. The research project (2019-2022) was carried out at the university of Innsbruck and funded by go!digital next generation programme of the Austrian Academy of Sciences.

Citeable Transcripts of the historical documents are online available:
Hs. 37 DOI: 10.5281/zenodo.6274562
Hs. 1587 DOI: 10.5281/zenodo.6274928

Audible Networks: Connecting Texts through Music in 16th-Century Swiss Printed Ballads

In recent years, researchers of early modern print culture, particularly those concerned with news circulation, have increasingly embraced network analysis to account for the flow of information across different regions and media. Even though most of these studies focus on people or cities as nodes and hubs in networks of news distribution, interrelations on a textual level, such as networks of co-citation, have received some attention as well. These approaches, as well as examples of textual network analysis in media history of more recent periods, can serve as inspiration for the study of early modern printed ballads.
Like in other printed objects, connections between different ballads can be discerned on a textual level, i.e. as adaptations of existing lyrics, quotation or the combination of several ballads in one print. However, and perhaps obviously, ballads can also be associated on a musical level. The practice of using already existing, popular melodies as a basis for a new text – commonly referred to as “contrafactum” – has repeatedly been shown to be relevant not only as a mnemonic device, but as a means for alluding to themes of existing songs. Previous studies have suggested that this technique was often consciously employed by the authors of songs in order to add an additional layer of meaning.
This paper will present some early deliberations within the framework of an ongoing PhD project on political ballads of the 16th-century Swiss Confederation. The project as a whole examines songs from a perspective of media history, investigating their role in constructing and transmitting ideas and imaginations about diplomatic relations between the confederates. Using the example of “contrafactum-relations”, the paper will explore how a methodology inspired by network analysis might be useful in this endeavour. Based on an initial corpus of around 150 printed ballads (containing both original songs and reprints or adaptations of earlier songs) printed in Switzerland between 1530 and 1600, it will provide a visual representation of the connection between the different songs as a network in which individual printed songs function as nodes and melodies as edges. This will allow for the identification of particularly influential melodies, chains of “musical references” and clusters of songs which share the same melodies. These results, in turn, may be put in relation to the subject matter of the songs in question and compared to text-based networks, thus not only providing visual and quantitative evidence of the practice of contrafactum, but giving insight into the mechanisms by which information is transmitted through this particular medium.

Data from: Genome data from a 16th century pig illuminate modern breed relationships

Ancient DNA (aDNA) provides direct evidence of historical events that have modeled the genome of modern individuals. In livestock, resolving the differences between the effects of initial domestication and of subsequent modern breeding is not straight forward without aDNA data. Here, we have obtained shotgun genome sequence data from a sixteenth century pig from Northeastern Spain (Montsoriu castle), the ancient pig was obtained from an extremely well-preserved and diverse assemblage. In addition, we provide the sequence of three new modern genomes from an Iberian pig, Spanish wild boar and a Guatemalan Creole pig. Comparison with both mitochondrial and autosomal genome data shows that the ancient pig is closely related to extant Iberian pigs and to European wild boar. Although the ancient sample was clearly domestic, admixture with wild boar also occurred, according to the D-statistics. The close relationship between Iberian, European wild boar and the ancient pig confirms that Asian introgression in modern Iberian pigs has not existed or has been negligible. In contrast, the Guatemalan Creole pig clusters apart from the Iberian pig genome, likely due to introgression from international breeds.
