California Blue Oak reproduction and recruitment, Sierra Foothills, 2005-2010
This data archive contributes to the study of blue oak conservation by quantifying reproductive success (numbers of new seedlings and their sizes) and survival and growth of the younger life stages (seedlings and saplings), and by exploring how the timing of grazing, topographical variables, and rainfall limit reproduction, growth, and survival for these life stages, helping to identify potential management and restoration strategies to enhance the population viability of blue oak. We followed a population of blue oak (Quercus douglasii) seedlings and saplings in the Sierra Nevada foothills, measuring adult seed production and initial seedling recruitment (number and size of new seedlings), seedling growth and survival, seedling recruitment to saplings (growing greater than 10 cm in height), and sapling growth and survival. We tested the impacts on these demographic processes of timing and intensity of grazing, light availability, water availability, and individual size. We published our analysis of these data as part of the 8th Oak Woodland Symposium. This data archive contains the underlying data for our analysis plus some data we did not include in our analysis (residual dry matter, photosynthetically active radiation, percent exotic/native cover), including raw data and R and Perl scripts used to format them for analysis, and additional information not included in the conference proceedings.

Massachusetts Department of Environment Protection (MADEP): lake water chemistry , 2005-2010
This database contains anion, nutrient, and secchi data collected by MA DEP for assessment of water quality in MA lakes. Data spans 2005-2010. The ultimate goal of the MassDEP is to implement a comprehensive monitoring program (status/assessment, trends and flows, and targeted) that serves all water quality management needs, and addresses streams, rivers, lakes, reservoirs, estuaries, coastal areas, wetlands, and groundwater. The five-year rotating watershed assessment program is currently the primary means of meeting the CWA objective related to assessing the status of designated uses. Requirements for the monitoring program designed to support watershed assessments, reflecting CWA mandates, are that it be statewide in scale, comprehensive (all water bodies in the Commonwealth are assessed), and repeated at regular intervals. Water quality surveys generally consist of five sampling events interspersed throughout the water recreation season for conventional water quality analyses such as pH, dissolved oxygen, suspended and total dissolved solids, nutrients, and fecal coliform bacteria.
Yale-Post Long-Term Study Lakes, CT: nutrients, 2005-2010
Long term data for 6 lakes: Bridge, Dodge, Rogers, Pattagansett, Quonnipaug, and Hayward. Data for 13 other lakes included with the long term data. This was collected for a study which is outlined in Post et al. 2008. Data collection is currently ongoing, but only for the 6 long term study lakes.
Carbon Pools across CONUS using the MaxEnt Model, 2005, 2010, 2015, 2016, and 2017
This dataset provides annual estimates of six carbon pools, including forest aboveground live biomass, belowground biomass, aboveground dead biomass, belowground dead biomass, litter, and soil organic matter, across the conterminous United States (CONUS) for 2005, 2010, 2015, 2016, and 2017. Carbon stocks were estimated using a modified MaxEnt model. Measurements of pixel-specific site conditions from remote sensing data were combined with field inventory data from the U.S. Forest Service Forest Inventory and Analysis (FIA). Remote sensing data inputs included Thematic Mapper on Landsat 5, Operational Land Imager on Landsat 8, Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on Aqua, microwave radar measurements from Phased Array type L-band Synthetic Aperture Radar (PALSAR) on Advanced Land Observation Satellite (ALOS) and PALSAR-2 ALOS-2, airborne imagery from National Agriculture Imagery Program (NAIP), and the digital elevation model from the Shuttle Radar Topography Mission (SRTM). Data from satellite and airborne sources were co-registered on a common 100 m (1 ha) grid.
CMS: Simulated Physical-Biogeochemical Data, SABGOM Model, Gulf of America, 2005-2010
This dataset contains monthly mean ocean surface physical and biogeochemical data for the Gulf of America simulated by the South Atlantic Bight and Gulf of America (SABGOM) model on a 5-km grid from 2005 to 2010. The simulated data include ocean surface salinity, temperature, dissolved inorganic nitrogen (DIN), dissolved inorganic carbon (DIC), partial pressure of CO2 (pCO2), air-sea CO2 flux, surface currents, and primary production. The SABGOM model is a coupled physical-biogeochemical model for studying circulation and biochemical cycling for the entire Gulf of America to achieve an improved understanding of marine ecosystem variations and their relations with three-dimensional ocean circulation in a gulf-wide context.
CMS: Forest Carbon Stocks, Emissions, and Net Flux for the Conterminous US: 2005-2010
This data set provides maps of estimated carbon in forests of the 48 continental states of the US for the years 2005-2010. Carbon (termed committed carbon) stocks were estimated for forest aboveground biomass, belowground biomass, standing dead stems, and litter for the year 2005. Carbon emissions were estimated from land use conversion to agriculture, insect damage, logging, wind, and weather events in the forests for the years 2006 - 2010. Committed net carbon flux was estimated as the sum of carbon emissions and sequestration. The maps are provided at 100-m spatial resolution in GeoTIFF format. Average annual carbon estimates, by US county, for (1) emissions for the multiple disturbance sources, (2) sequestration, and (3) the committed net carbon flux are provided in an ESRI shapefile.

This data set, part of the NASA Making Earth System Data Records for Use in Research Environments (MEaSUREs) program, consists of two digital Greenland image maps each for the 2005, 2010, and 2015 measurement periods: the MOG Surface Morphology Image Map and the MOG Grain Size Image Map. The image maps are constructed from MODIS imagery acquired during 2005, 2010, and 2015 and provide nearly cloud-free views of all land areas and islands larger than a few hundred meters, including the ice caps on Baffin Island, Devon Island, Axel Heiberg Island, and Ellesmere Island.
