Total dissolved organic carbon measurements at standard depths in the water column from nine CalCOFI cruises, 2008-2017.
Water column bottle samples at multiple depths are taken during CalCOFI cruises (since 2006, ongoing) at various CTD stations, and measurements of total organic carbon (TOC) are performed onshore in the lab. TOC includes both dissolved and particulate organic carbon (DOC and POC, respectively). In open ocean waters, POC is subtracted from TOC, and likely provides an accurate estimate of DOC because particles are typically small and homogeneously distributed in the sample. In coastal waters, and at stations where relatively high chlorophyll concentrations are present, the TOC measurement is not easily converted to DOC by subtracting POC values. Experience has shown that particles in these regions are large and inhomogeneously distributed. Therefore, samples collected in the CCE are reported as TOC, expressed as micromoles of carbon per liter of sea water.
Dataset on infrastructural contestation in Greece (2008-2017)

The recent financial crisis has disturbed the smooth operation of infrastructural systems and hence challenged their role as guarantors of the social contract between citizens and the state. The “infrastructural gap” caused by the financial crisis, the ongoing urban expansion around the globe and the technological changes has turned infrastructures into a contested public domain. The extreme austerity measures and cutbacks in public infrastructure and the subsequent political delegitimizing that occurred in Greece exemplify this phenomenon. Our dataset concerns the mapping of events of socio-political contestation on the various types of infrastructure that occurred in Greece between 2008 – 2017.

The data have been collected in the context of the infra-demos project who studies the relationship between infrastructure change, citizens’ participation and socio-technical innovation. The list of our sources include datasets from previous ethnographic and social research, national and local media outlets, social movements’ communication platforms and social media. Our dataset is composed by four sectors: a. a chronological indicator of the date of each event and its duration, b. the kind of socio-political action, c. the type of infrastructure and d. the type of infrastructural contestation.

Infra-demos is funded by an NWO Vidi Innovational Research Incentives Scheme (project no 452- 17-015) hosted in the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, Faculty of Social Sciences and held by Prof. Dimitris Dalakoglou.

ABoVE: Post-Fire and Unburned Field Site Data, Anaktuvuk River Fire Area, 2008-2017
This dataset includes field measurements from 26 burned and unburned transects established in 2008 in the region of the Anaktuvuk River tundra fire on the Arctic Slope of Alaska, US. Measurements include plant cover by species, shrub and tussock density, thaw depth, and soil depth. This wildfire occurred in 2007, and sampling took place in 2008-2011 and in 2017.
ABoVE: TVPRM Simulated Net Ecosystem Exchange, Alaskan North Slope, 2008-2017
This dataset includes hourly net ecosystem exchange (NEE) simulated by the Tundra Vegetation Photosynthesis and Respiration Model (TVPRM) at 30 km horizontal resolution for the Alaskan North Slope for 2008-2017. TVPRM calculates tundra NEE from air temperature, soil temperature, photosynthetically active radiation (PAR), and solar-induced chlorophyll fluorescence (SIF) using functional relationships derived from eddy covariance tower measurements. These relationships were then scaled over the region using gridded meteorology and a vegetation map. The site-level CO2 fluxes fell into two distinct ecosystem groups: inland tundra (ICS, ICT, ICH, IVO) and coastal tundra (ATQ, BES, BEO, CMDL). The expanded modeling framework allowed for the easy substitution of ecological behaviors and environmental drivers, including the choice of representative inland tundra site, coastal tundra site, vegetation map (CAVM, RasterCAVM, or ABoVE-LC), meteorological reanalysis product (NARR or ERA5), and SIF product (GOME2, GOSIF, or CSIF). Using all of these variations generated an ensemble of 288 different TVPRM simulations of regional CO2 flux and one additional simulation option with added aquatic and zero curtain fluxes (AqZC).
ABoVE: Annual Thaw Slump Expansion on East Fork Chandalar River, Alaska, 2008-2017
This dataset provides a time series of spatial data showing the expansion of a thaw slump on the East Fork Chandalar River near the community of Venetie, Alaska, from 2008 through 2017. The erosion of vegetated areas along the river was documented by manually digitizing imagery from ESRI basemaps and Landsat 5 (TM), 7 (ETM+), and 8 (OLI), using the band combination of shortwave infrared 2, shortwave infrared 1, and red.
