Distribution and habitat use of juvenile Feather River salmonids: 25 years and ongoing of snorkel surveys
Since 1999, the California Department of Water Resources (DWR) has conducted annual snorkel surveys to monitor juvenile salmon on the Feather River. The objective of this data collection effort is to determine the relative abundance and distribution of rearing juvenile Chinook salmon and steelhead. A secondary objective is to collect baseline data for future monitoring programs associated with habitat restoration projects. Crews survey units within 20 sampling sections on the high flow (HFC) and low flow channel (LFC) between January and September and collect information on species, fish size, substrate, cover, and habitat type. This dataset represents an extensive time series that could be used to identify habitat conditions where juvenile Chinook salmon and steelhead occur and how these conditions have changed over time. These data were published to support the Healthy Rivers and Landscapes Program.
Continuous salinity, temperature and depth measurements from moored hydrographic data loggers deployed at GCE9_Hydro (Altamaha River near Rockdedundy Island, Georgia) from 25-Feb-2002 through 31-Dec-2002
Conductivity, temperature and pressure were measured continuously at Georgia Coastal Ecosystems LTER sampling location GCE9_Hydro (Altamaha River near Rockdedundy Island, Georgia) from 25-Feb-2002 through 31-Dec-2002. Observations were logged at 30 minute intervals by moored Sea-Bird Electronics MicroCAT 37-SM data loggers and downloaded approximately bimonthly. Salinity, depth and sigma-t were calculated from the measured parameters using standard UNESCO algorithms. This data set was collected as part of the GCE-LTER Project continuous salinity, temperature and water level monitoring program.

AlborEx dataset (25-30 May 2014)
<p>AlborEx (Alboran Sea Experiment) consisted of a multi-platform, multi-disciplinary experiment carried out in the Alboran Sea (Western Mediterranean Sea) between May 25 and 31, 2014. The observational component of AlborEx aimed to sample the physical and biogeochemical properties of oceanographic features present along an intense frontal zone, with a particular interest in the vertical motions in its vicinity. To this end, the mission included</p> <ul> <li>1 research vessel (66 profiles, ADCP and thermosalingraph measurements),</li> <li>2 underwater gliders (adding up 554 profiles),</li> <li>3 profiling floats,</li> <li>25 surface drifters.</li> </ul>

Pattern morphology for frogs captured at 9 locations in northeastern Puerto Rico over a 25-year period from 1978 to 2002
We recorded the pattern morph for 9,950 frogs captured at 9 locations in northeastern Puerto Rico over a 25-year period from 1978 - 2002. Data revealed 21 distinct pattern morphs including a variety of stripes, bars, and spots. Analysis of morph frequencies between plots showed significant heterogeneity, with longitudinal stripes more common in grassland and disturbed areas, and spot and bar morphs more common in forests where palm and bromeliad axils are important habitat features. Comparison of morph frequencies through time at the same sites showed temporal shifts immediately following Hurricane Hugo in 1989. We suggest that the pattern polymorphism is maintained in part by local habitat matching resulting from selection pressure from visual predators. MCR LTER: Coral Reefs: Coral recruitment to 25 m2 plots on the forereef surrounding Moorea, French Polynesia, 2011-2015
These data report the number of Pocilloporid, Acroporid and Poritiid corals recruiting annually to permanent 5 m X 5 m plots established at a depth of approximately 10 m on the forereef of Moorea, French Polynesia. Plots were established following an outbreak (2007-2010) of the corallivorous crown-of-thorns seastars (Acanthaster planci) and the close passage of Cyclone Oli to Moorea in February, 2010. These two perturbations resulted in a significant loss of live coral coral from the forereef on an island-wide scale (crown-of-thorns) and the loss of habitat structural complexity from forereef habitats on Moorea's north shore (Cyclone Oli). Data were obtained by counting all Pocilloporid, Acroporid and Poritiid coral recruits < 3 cm in colony diameter observed within 25 5 m x 5 m plots established at four sites in a depth of approximately 10 m on the forereef of Moorea, French Polynesia. Two sites, Resilience 1 (R1) containing five 5 m x 5 m plots and Resilience 2 (R2) containing ten 5 m x 5 m plots were established along the north shore of the island. Two additional sites, Resilience 4 (R4) and Resilience 5 (R5), each containing five 5 m x 5 m plots were established on the southeast and southwest shores of the island, respectively. The locations of the plots are permanently marked using stainless steel eye-bolts cemented into the reef matrix so that counts of coral recruits can be made repeatedly within the same plots on an annual basis. <p>« Mics in the Ears » binaural experiment in Cairo (Egypt): Vincent Battesti & Nicolas Puig, social anthropologists, asked inhabitants of Cairo megapolis in Egypt to record the surrounding urban sounds during one of their daily journeys (without the researcher), equipped with binaural microphones and GPS device. Participants have recorded in different Cairo neighbourhoods, and are themselves from different generations, social and economic backgrounds, and different genders.</p> <p>The two sound files are one the raw sound recorded by one of them during this walk in a neighbourhood in Cairo (see name of the inhabitant and date and place of recording in the file name), and the other the description and comments he or she gave us a posteriori when listening to this previous raw sound he or she recorded. This dataset has been used for the article "Ultra-oligotrophic waters expansion in the North Atlantic Subtropical Gyre revealed by 21 years of satellite observations" Leonelli et al. 2022, where details of interpolation method are fully explained.</p>
