Art&Emotions Dataset

<p><strong>Art&amp;Emotion experiment description </strong>&nbsp;</p> <p><br> The Art &amp; Emotions dataset was collected in the scope of EU funded research project SPICE (https://cordis.europa.eu/project/id/870811) with the goal of investigating the relationship between art and emotions and collecting written data (User Generated Content) in the domain of arts in all the languages of the SPICE project (fi, en, es, he, it). The data was collected through a set of Google Forms (one for each language) and it was used in the project (along the other datasets collected by museums in the different project use cases) in order to train and test Emotion Detection Models within the project.<br> &nbsp;<br> The experiment consists of 12 artworks, chosen from a group of artworks provided by the GAM Museum of Turin (https://www.gamtorino.it/) one of the project partners. Each artwork is presented in a different section of the form; for each of the artworks, the user is asked to answer 5 open questions:&nbsp;</p> <p>1. What do you see in this picture? Write what strikes you most in this image.&nbsp;</p> <p>2. What does this artwork make you think about? Write the thoughts and memories that the picture evokes.</p> <p>3. How does this painting make you feel? Write the feelings and emotions that the picture evokes in you&nbsp;</p> <p>4. What title would you give to this artwork?</p> <p>5. Now choose one or more emoji to associate with your feelings looking at this artwork. State-of-the-art review of near-term freshwater forecasting literature published between 2017 and 2022

This data publication includes code and results from a systematic literature review on the current state of near-term forecasting of freshwater quality. The review aimed to address the following questions: (1) Freshwater variables, scales, models, and skill: Which freshwater variables and temporal scales are most commonly targeted for near-term forecasts, and what modeling methods are most commonly employed to develop these forecasts? How is the accuracy of freshwater quality forecasts assessed, and how accurate are they? How is uncertainty typically incorporated into water quality forecast output? (2) Forecast infrastructure and workflows: Are iterative, automated workflows commonly employed in near-term freshwater quality forecasting? How are forecasts validated and archived? (3) Human dimensions: What is the stated motivation for development of most near-term freshwater quality forecasts, and who are the most common end users (if any)? How are end users engaged in forecast development? An initial search was conducted for published papers presenting freshwater quality forecasts from 1 January 2017 to 17 February 2022 in the Web of Science Core Collection. Results were subsequently analyzed in three stages. First, paper titles were screened for relevance. Second, an initial screen was conducted to assess whether each paper presented a near-term freshwater quality forecast. Third, papers that passed the initial screen were analyzed using a standardized matrix to assess the state of near-term freshwater quality forecasting and identify areas of recent progress and ongoing challenges. Arts and humanities in the LTER Network: understanding extent, values, and challenges by assessing the relevance of empathy in the LTER Network, 2013-2014

The Long-term Ecological Research (LTER) Network is a collection of 25 National Science Foundation-funded sites committed to long-term, place-based investigation of the natural world. While activities primarily focus on ecological research, arts and humanities inquiry emerged in 2002 and since then a substantial body of creative work has been produced at LTER-affiliated sites. These art-humanities-science collaborations parallel a wider trend in universities and nonprofits. However, there is little empirical work on the value and effectiveness of this work. After launching a survey in 2013 to assess the values and challenges associated with arts and humanities in the LTER Network, which identified empathy as a meaningful potential outcome of this creative work, we conducted a follow-up analysis to understand: the relevance of empathy in the LTER Network; the role of empathy in bridging arts, humanities, and science collaborations; and the capacity of empathy to connect wider audiences both to LTER science and to the natural world. Our research included phone interviews with representatives from 15 LTER sites and an audience perception survey at an LTER-hosted art show. We found that arts-humanities-science collaborations have great potential to catalyze relationships between scholars, the public, and the natural world; cultivate inspiration and empathy for the natural world; and spark awareness shifts that can enable pro-environmental behavior. Our research demonstrates the potential for art-humanities-science collaborations to facilitate conservation attitudes and action in the Network and beyond.

<p>El proyecto ARCA, Arte colonial americano, es una curadur&iacute;a visual que contiene veinticinco mil pinturas coloniales producidas en las tres am&eacute;ricas: Hispano, Luso y Angloam&eacute;rica. Adem&aacute;s de exponer la riqueza visual americana entre 1550 a 1830, fechas extremas de esta colecci&oacute;n, se trata de explorar los datos y metadatos que ofrecen las pinturas de manera digital. Por esta raz&oacute;n es una base de datos relacional, interactiva y con algunas herramientas de an&aacute;lisis que permiten extender la escala de la investigaci&oacute;n m&aacute;s all&aacute; de los mecanismos tradicionales. Arca&nbsp;parte de las propuestas de las Humanidades Digitales, y particularmente se traza como un proyecto de historia digital, en dos sentidos: primero, hist&oacute;ricamente abre la exploraci&oacute;n a los problemas de la cultura visual colonial desde sus metadatos. "Non facciamo la guerra, combattiamo i rifiuti!"_FishArt.Participatory Art for environmental sustainability and aesthetic transformation of Anzio Fishermen's Harbour

<p>FishArt is a 10-month international project funded by the New European Bahahus Cross-KIC Connect 2024 written by and granted to Chiara Certoma&rsquo; (UniTo &ndash; now at UniRm1) and led by Laura Corazza (UniTo), in collaboration with Raw-News, Platoon and the fishermen cooperatives of Anzio (Rome, Italy). FishArt promotes a radically participatory art and education process supporting the requalification of the Fishermen&rsquo;s Harbour in the coastal city of Anzio, Italy.As part of the FishArt project agenda, transect walks and educational training initiatives have been combined in a major event, strongly requested by the local community. The synergy between local institutions and international research aims to stimulate civic participation on the problem of marine pollution and the care of the coastal territory.The event &ldquo;Let&rsquo;s not make war, let&rsquo;s fight waste!&rdquo; is a civic initiative promoted by the Extraordinary Commission supported by the Environment Area of the Municipality of Anzio which aims to involve all the components of civil society for a collaborative cleaning of the beaches, transforming the celebrations of the Anzio/Nettuno landing into a moment of sharing and to raise awareness against marine pollution.</p>

French-language art critics bibliographies dataset

<p>French-language art critics active between the mid-19<sup>th</sup> and 20<sup>th</sup> centuries (see <a href="http://critiquesdart.univ-paris1.fr/en">http://critiquesdart.univ-paris1.fr/en</a>). Each author&rsquo;s page displays their primary and secondary bibliographies and identified archival sources. These documents are based on extensive research to produce primary bibliographies that can be considered to be comprehensive. For those writers whose complete works have been published, only their writing on art is listed. This online directory doubles as a database of primary bibliographies for the critics listed.</p> <p>This dataset is neutral and non-discriminating, with no typology or classification other than the text format. It is multidisciplinary and makes no claim to assess the critical value of a text, preferring to provide as comprehensive an overview as possible of the authors&rsquo; literary output in whatever field (literature, art, politics, history, etc.) or medium (photography, film, fine arts, architecture, etc.) their interest encompassed.</p> <p>Since these authors all wrote in French, they come from the artistic scenes in France, Belgium and Switzerland, not to mention the colonies of the period. Authors who wrote in more than one language are also included.</p> <p>Our intention is to showcase research into art criticism, improve access to the documents and create links between researchers. <p><span>In seiner Gesamtheit umfasst der Datensatz eine Sammlung von Initiativen und Projekten, die mit </span><span>Gaia-X sowie Data Spaces im Allgemeinen in Verbindung stehen</span><span>.</span>&nbsp;Ziel der Datensammlung war es, eine detaillierte &Uuml;bersicht &uuml;ber bestehende Projekte zu erhalten und diese systematisch zu kategorisieren, um anschlie&szlig;end spezifische industrielle Anwendungsf&auml;lle herauszuarbeiten und diese zu analysieren. Der Zeitraum dieser Sammlung erstreckte sich von April 2023 bis M&auml;rz 2024. Anzumerken ist, dass s&auml;mtliche zur Verf&uuml;gung stehenden Informationen innerhalb dieses Zeitraums in den Datensatz aufgenommen wurden. Ab M&auml;rz 2024 wurden keine weiteren Daten erfasst, wodurch der Datensatz den aktuellen Stand bis zu diesem Zeitpunkt widerspiegelt.</p> <p>Insgesamt wurden 211 Initiativen aus 281 Quellen zusammengetragen und ausgewertet. Diese unterteilen sich (&uuml;ber alle Dom&auml;nen hinweg) in 102 Data Spaces und 93 Anwendungsf&auml;lle. Die 93 Anwendungsf&auml;lle beinhalten 47 Industrie 4.0 relevante Anwendungsf&auml;lle.</p>

Desk research of 107 case studies on state-of-the-art of cultural tourism interventions

<p>The aim of Work Package 3 of the SmartCulTour project (<a href="http://www.smartcultour.eu">www.smartcultour.eu</a>) is to provide a state-of-the-art overview of cultural tourism interventions implemented in European cities and regions, thereby identifying best practices and the impacts and success conditions of cultural tourism interventions. To this end, the consortium identified 107 interesting cultural tourism interventions throughout Europe, with a <strong>geographical coverage</strong> of: Belgium (9), Italy (8), The Netherlands (8), Serbia (7), Romania (6), Croatia (5), Hungary (4), Portugal (4), Spain (4), United Kingdom (4), Finland (3), France (3), Sweden (3), Other countries (24), Multiple countries (15). The &quot;Overview and taxonomy of 107 interventions&quot; lists every intervention that was studied, as well as their respective classification given, based on the description and objective of the intervention. Within this table, a value of &quot;1&quot; is its primary categorization, with a value of &quot;2&quot; assigned to a secondary taxonomy. Each intervention can have multiple purposes and therefore belong to different categories.The taxonomy of cultural tourism interventions is further described in &quot;State of the art of cultural tourism interventions&quot; (DOI: 10.5281/zenodo.5270321).</p> <p>The 107 cultural tourism interventions were analyzed via desk research only during the period September 2020-January 2021, based on available secondary data and following a standardized <strong>data collection form</strong>. This form is included here as &quot;Internal data collection form used for analysis&quot;. Indian Art Music Raga Recognition Dataset (features)

<p>The <strong>Rāga Recognition Datasets (features)</strong> comprise two sizable datasets, one for each music tradition: the <strong>Carnatic Music Dataset (CMD)</strong> and the <strong>Hindustani Music Dataset (HMD)</strong>. Each dataset entry includes features such as <strong>pitch</strong>, <strong>tonic</strong>, and <strong>nyas</strong> and <strong>tani</strong> segments. These datasets can be used to develop and evaluate approaches for automatic rāga recognition in Indian art music. To the best of our knowledge, they are the largest and most comprehensive datasets (in terms of available metadata) ever used for studying this task.</p> <p>This repository only contains the metadata and computed features for the dataset, and shared in open access. Inventories of 17th-century Dutch painters and art dealers: the Künstler-Inventare database

<p>Abraham Bredius&rsquo; seminal work <em><a href="https://digi.ub.uni-heidelberg.de/diglit/bredius1915ga">K&uuml;nstler-Inventare</a> </em>contains over 150 inventories of artists&rsquo; possessions in the Dutch Republic. However, this rich source has never been fully transformed into datasets, partially because Bredius was selective in his transcriptions of artists&rsquo; inventories with a focus on paintings. To fill this gap and to overcome Bredius&rsquo; biases, the <a href="https://www.virtualinteriorsproject.nl/">Virtual Interior project</a> assembled and transcribed 46 inventories of artists&rsquo; and art dealers&rsquo; homes in 17<sup>th</sup>-century Amsterdam. The selection of the inventories was based on three criteria: 1) The artists&rsquo; and art dealers&rsquo; inventories in my sample were drawn up during an artist&rsquo;s lifetime or shortly after his death; 2) the inventories listed goods arranged by room; 3) the original documents of the inventories can still be traced in the Amsterdam City Archives. Forty-six inventories were selected and transcribed from the original sources or copied from existing publications. The majority of my samples can be found in the <a href="https://archief.amsterdam/inventarissen/details/5075/keywords/notarissen/withscans/0/start/0/limit/10/flimit/5">notarial archives</a> (Archive nr. 5075) and the rest in the <a href="https://archief.amsterdam/inventarissen/details/5072/withscans/0/findingaid/5072/start/0/limit/10/flimit/5">Archive of the Chamber of Insolvency</a> (<em>Desolate Boedel kamer, </em>Archive nr. 5072), both preserved in the Amsterdam City Archives<em>. </em>Starting with the published inventories, Bart Reuvekamp from our project team traced them back to the original sources in the archive, transcribed centuries-old handwritten pages, and compiled the listed objects in digital form. In this way, our database is able to encompass all belongings present in painters&rsquo; workshops, filling in the blanks that Bredius and other authors neglected or chose to leave out &ndash; the missing information that once hindered our comprehension of how artists organized their studios.</p> <p>The dataset is organized as follows:</p> <ul> <li><strong>1_Intro_and_data_explanation.xlsx</strong> introduces the dataset and explains the columns in the following files</li> <li><strong>2_Inventory_list.csv</strong> hosts the details of the inventories in this dataset</li> <li><strong>3_Inventory_items.csv</strong> contains the full transcriptions and categorical data of the objects in the inventories</li> <li><strong>4_Inventory_relationships.csv</strong> captures all the people mentioned in the inventories in the pre- or postscript and/or as debtors or creditors</li> <li><strong>5_Inventory_category_reference.csv</strong> provides a reference table for the &lsquo;object_type&rsquo; and &lsquo;object_category&rsquo; columns in 3_Inventory_items.csv</li> <li><strong>6_Inventory_subjectmatter_reference.csv</strong> offers a reference table for the &lsquo;painting_subject&rsquo; and &lsquo;painting_genre&rsquo; columns in 3_Inventory_items.csv</li> </ul> <p><strong>NB: This <em>K&uuml;nstler-Inventare database&nbsp;</em>is a provisional version.
