Beziehungsgeflechte im Frühen Mittelalter. Eine Fall Studie aus Basel
<p>This upload corresponds to the online and free available supplements related to the article "Beziehungsgeflechte im frühen Mittelalter – Eine Fallstudie aus Basel" published by Margaux L. C. Depaermentier and Susanne Brather-Walter in ZAM - Zeitschrift für Archäologie des Mittelalters (edited by Sebastian Brather, Ulrich Müller, and Heiko Steuer).</p> <p>The csv file lists the sites (and their coordinates) where the analysed brooch and belt buckle types, which are represented in Basel in the early Middle Ages, are attested. For each site, the corresponding brooch or belt buckle type as well as the chronological frame has been specified. The lists of the individual burials corresponding to the sites are available in the ZAM article.</p> <p>Based on this csv file, the distribution of each brooch and belt buckle type has been mapped and modelled with a Kernel Density Estimation (KDE). Each TIFF file named after a brooch or belt buckle type show the corresponding map.</p> <p>Finally, this upload includes the high resolution figures published in the ZAM. These are the TIFF files names under Abb_1 to Abb_18.</p>

Raw and Processed Data of Printed Markets - The Basel Avisblatt (1729-1845)
<p>Switzerland's first advertising journal – the so-called Avisblatt – was published in Basel. It is a typical example of a new market form emerging in 18th century Europe, yet it is also exceptional since all issues from 1729 to 1844/45 are preserved. In the SNF funded research project “Märkte auf Papier” at the University of Basel (PI: Prof. Dr. Susanna Burghartz), this serial source has been digitized and used to investigate economic, social and societal transformations of the early capitalist period in Basel. A database of all adverts and announcements was created, totalling 932’000 records and providing different sorts of metadata for each advert. The dataset is made avaiable combined with analytical tools.</p> <ul> <li>first official, public release</li> <li>raw (OCR'd) data, collections (data and meta data) and aggregated tables</li> <li>read and process conveniently with the avisblatt R package</li> </ul>

SONNET City Lab Basel - data
<p>The Basel city lab differed slightly from the other SONNET city labs, as it involved a collaboration between the state-owned local energy utility and the SONNET academic partner ZHAW. While the involvement of the city administration supported the initial set-up and scoping of projects with the academic partner, they were subsequently less directly involved. Nonetheless, the city lab, involving the local energy utility as the “city partner” successfully developed and tested a social innovation in energy (SIE). The SIE in focus was a smartphone app designed to encourage reducing an individual’s CO2-footprint. To conduct the outcomes evaluation and to obtain reliable data on the causal impact of the app on users’ knowledge about their personal CO2-footprint, beliefs and norms concerning climate change and their personal CO2-emissions, as well as on their environmentally relevant practices and behaviours, we conducted a field experiment, or randomized controlled trial (RCT), with around 500 volunteer participants over the course of two months from mid-October to mid-December 2020.</p>
