<p>Data and R code used for the analysis of data for the publication: Coumoundouros et al., Cognitive behavioural therapy self-help intervention preferences among informal caregivers of adults with chronic kidney disease: an online cross-sectional survey. BMC Nephrology</p> <p><strong>Summary of study</strong></p> <p>An online cross-sectional survey for informal caregivers (e.g. family and friends) of people living with chronic kidney disease in the United Kingdom. Study aimed to examine informal caregivers' cognitive behavioural therapy self-help intervention preferences, and describe the caregiving situation (e.g. types of care activities) and informal caregiver's mental health (depression, anxiety and stress symptoms).</p> <p>Participants were eligible to participate if they were at least 18 years old, lived in the United Kingdom, and provided unpaid care to someone living with chronic kidney disease who was at least 18 years old.</p> <p>The online survey included questions regarding (1) informal caregiver's characteristics; (2) care recipient's characteristics; (3) intervention preferences (e.g. content, delivery format); and (4) informal caregiver's mental health. Informal caregiver's mental health was assessed using the 21 item Depression, Anxiety, and Stress Scale (DASS-21), which is composed of three subscales measuring depression, anxiety, and stress, respectively.</p> <p>Sixty-five individuals participated in the survey.</p> <p>See the published article for full study details.</p> <p><strong>Description of uploaded files</strong></p> <p>1. Data cleaning involved imputation of missing data if participants were missing data for one item within a subscale of the DASS-21. Missing values were imputed by finding the mean of all other items within the relevant subscale. </p> <p>3. Data from: Age estimation using methylation-sensitive high-resolution melting (MS-HRM) in both healthy felines and those with chronic kidney disease
<p>Age is an important ecological tool in wildlife conservation. However, it is difficult to estimate in most animals, including felines — most of whom are endangered. Here, we developed the first DNA methylation-based age-estimation technique — as an alternative to current age-estimation methods — for two feline species that share a relatively long genetic distance with each other: domestic cat (<i>Felis catus</i>; 79 blood samples) and an endangered <i>Panthera</i>, the snow leopard (<i>Panthera uncia</i>; 11 blood samples). We measured the methylation rates of two gene regions <span>using </span>methylation-sensitive high-resolution melting (MS-HRM). Domestic cat age was estimated with a mean absolute deviation (MAD) of 3.83 years. Health conditions influenced accuracy of the model. Specifically, the models built on cats with chronic kidney disease (CKD) had lower accuracy than those built on healthy cats. The snow leopard-specific model (i.e. the model that resets the model settings for snow leopards) had a better accuracy (MAD = 2.10 years) than that obtained on using the domestic cat model directly. This implies that our markers could be utilised across species, although changing the model settings when targeting different species could lead to better estimation accuracy. The snow leopard-specific model also successfully distinguished between sexually immature and mature individuals.</p>

CHRONIC KIDNEY DISEASE SCREENING IN COMMUNITY PHARMACY: CRIERFAC PROJECT
<p>Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a major health problem. Early detection improves the prognosis of these patients, but the disease does not show its face until it is more advanced. The aim is to screen for the disease in community pharmacies in order to refer patients to primary care physicians.</p> <p>Data from the 2116 patients recruited are presented in a single Excel table where each line corresponds to one patient. It contains patient demographics data, risk factors for chronic kidney disease, creatinine and glomerular filtration data, pharmacist intervention and physician response.</p>
KidDO project update - quantitative proteomic and metabolomic analysis of five mouse models with chronic kidney disease
<p>Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is one of the most deadly diseases faced by patients and is a major global health and socioeconomic burden.CKD increases cardiovascular morbidity and premature mortality and decreases quality of life. Hypertension (HTN) and type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), which are reaching epidemic levels, are major risk factors for CKD. CKD diagnosis and progression is based on estimated GFR (eGFR) and urinary albumin excretion. However, eGFR only has a predictive value in advanced disease and there is risk of progressive CKD in non-albuminuric individuals. Thus, there is an urgent need for new approaches for early detection of the most “at risk” individuals and identification of CKD signatures to aid in designing novel drugs and preventive measures that could ameliorate progression of CKD.</p> <p>Our overarching goal is to identify metabolites that predict kidney cell phenotypes during CKD and how crosstalk of these metabolites with the proteome drive CKD progression. We will integrate metabolomics and proteomic information from animal models of CKD with human CKD patient biopsies to identify common signatures in the tubulointerstitium that correlate with human pathophysiology.</p> <p>Here we provide quantitative proteomic and metabolomic datasets, as well as plasma and urine electrolyte measurements on five CKD mouse models.</p>
