<p>Using the previous dataset at <<a href="https://zenodo.org/record/4106746">https://zenodo.org/record/4106746</a>> an announcement of a machine breakdown event was simulated on Friday at 6:00, describing that machine MAQ119 could breakdown at any moment, detected using a predictive maintenance system. Accordingly, the proposed scheduler imposed a machine available frames constraint, during its event, of 0 usable frames, thus removing the machine from production. The proposed genetic algorithm was executed for 1 hour at period 769 (Friday at 7:00) until the remainder of the schedule’s time window. Joint Optimization of Production and Maintenance for Cost-effective Manufacturing and Demand Response Participation Dataset - Maintenance Optimization
<p>Using the previous dataset at <<a href="https://zenodo.org/record/4106746">https://zenodo.org/record/4106746</a>> a maintenance optimization scenario was formulated to validate the scheduler's ability to schedule tasks as well as maintenance activities while also minimizing the total costs. Accordingly, it was considered an optimization weight of 1 for the total cost and 0 for machine occupancy deviation, as well as a 2-hour execution time for the genetic algorithm. For energy selling, it was considered an added sales value corresponding to 50% of the buying. Regarding maintenance activities, it was simulated an announcement of a maintenance activity for MAQ118 from Monday at 07:00 (i.e., period 1) to Monday at 17:00 (i.e., period 120), and another for MAQ120 which can be done at any time. These maintenance activities take 6 hours and 10 minutes to complete and have an associated labor cost of 3,22 EUR/hour in maintenance hours, and a double cost penalty (i.e., 6.44 EUR/hour) if done out of maintenance hours. Data from: harnessing the power of regional baselines for broad-scale genetic stock identification: a multistage, integrated, and cost-effective approach
<p>In mixed-stock fishery analyses, genetic stock identification (GSI) estimates the contribution of each population to a mixture and is typically conducted at a regional scale using genetic baselines specific to the stocks expected in that region. Often these regional baselines cannot be combined to produce broader geographical baselines due to non-overlapping populations and genetic markers. In cases where the mixture contains stocks spanning across a wide area, a broad-scale baseline is created, but often at the cost of resolution. Here, we introduce a new GSI method to harness the resolution capabilities of baselines developed for regional applications in the analysis of mixtures containing individuals from a broad geographic range. This method employs a multistage framework that allows disparate baselines to be used in a single integrated process that produces estimates along with the propagated errors from each stage. All individuals in the mixture sample are required to be genotyped for all genetic markers in the baselines used by this model, but the baselines do not require overlap in genetic markers or populations representing the broad-scale or regional baselines.</p> <p>We demonstrate our integrated multistage GSI model using a synthesized data set made up of Chinook salmon, <em>Oncorhynchus tshawytscha</em>, from the North Bering Sea of Alaska. The data set is designed to be run using R package, Ms.GSI, and it does not represent the composition of the real fishery. The results show an improved accuracy for estimates using an integrated multistage framework, compared to the conventional framework of using separate hierarchical steps. The integrated multistage framework allows GSI of a wide geographic area without first developing a large scale, high-resolution genetic baseline or dividing a mixture sample into smaller regions beforehand. This approach is more cost-effective than updating range-wide baselines with all regionally important markers.</p>
Data from: A cost-effective blood DNA methylation-based age estimation method in domestic cats, Tsushima leopard cats (Prionailurus bengalensis euptilurus), and Panthera species, using targeted bisulfite sequencing and machine learning models
<p><span>Knowledge of individual age can help both in-situ and ex-situ conservation programs to design more efficient and suitable management plans for targeted wildlife species. DNA methylation is one of the epigenetic aging markers that has emerged as a promising tool that can estimate age with high accuracy using only a tiny amount of biological material, which can be collected in a minimally invasive way. Here, we sequenced five targeted genetic regions and used </span><span>8–23</span><span> selected CpG sites to build age estimation models with machine learning methods </span><span>with about only $3–7 per sample</span><span>, using blood samples of seven Felidae species—ranging from small to big, and domestic to endangered species: domestic cats (<em>Felis catus</em>, 139 samples), Tsushima leopard cats (<em>Prionailurus bengalensis euptilurus</em>, 84 samples), and five<em> Panthera </em>species (96 samples). </span><span>The models built achieved satisfactory accuracy—the mean absolute error of the best models was 1.966, 1.348, and 1.552 years in domestic cats, Tsushima leopard cats, and <em>Panthera</em> spp., respectively.</span><span> Our models in domestic cats and Tsushima leopard cats were applicable to individuals regardless of health conditions, indicating the high applicability of our models to samples collected from diverse situations, e.g., rescued individuals in the context of conservation. We also showed the possibility of developing universal age estimation models for the five<em> Panthera</em> spp. using two of the five genetic regions, suggesting an even lower cost to use our models for future applications.</span></p>
Raw Datasets of: "Evaluating the Cost-Effectiveness of Plastic Surgery Based on the Satisfaction with Quality of Life and Nasolabial Appearance in Thai Preteens with Cleft Lip and Palate"
<p>A cross-sectional study with 30 Thai preteen CLP patients aged between 8 to 12-year-old was undertaken between 2017 and 2019 at Tawanchai center. Their satisfaction with QoL was reflected through an interview and a questionnaire with the cooperation of their parents as their caregivers while satisfaction with their nasolabial appearance was from the evaluation of five experts who compared their photos with those of normal faces to determine correlation values of the nasolabial appearance from 5-rating scales using Fleiss’s kappa coefficient scores.</p>

<p>These are the raw datasets used to generate the figures for the manuscript entitled "Cost-effective high-speed, three-dimensional live-cell imaging of HIV-1 transfer at the T cell virological synapse". The data files are 3D image stacks of a custom-built wide field deconvolution fluorescence microscope (.tif) and super-resolution structured illumination microscopy data (.dv) of Jurkat T cells transferring HIV-1 virus particles to previously uninfected primary T cells.</p>

High spatiotemporal resolution free surface detection using cost-effective video equipment and computer vision techniques in nearly stationary flow along a transparent wall in the laboratory
<p>The identification of the air-water interface in free surface flows traditionally involves intrusive techniques or costly equipment. Non-intrusive alternatives, such as computer vision, are emerging as highly effective substitutes or supplements for more invasive techniques in laboratory measurements, thanks to their straightforward implementation and cost efficiency. This research specifically delves in the conjunction of various naive techniques, exploring their collective precision in detecting the air-water interface along transparent walls in laboratory. A detection technique based on the double gradient of the image is applied and thoroughly examined. The study progresses through multiple refinement stages, culminating in a method that is both cost effective and easy to implement. This methodology allows for large-scale, high resolution measurements (200 mm × 1800 frames per video at a 0.25 mm, 50 Hz resolution), offering both spatial and temporal measurements by adeptly detecting the free surface along transparent walls.</p>
