VHR orthomosaic imageries produced by dedicated drone flight campaigns over Cyprus (2021-2022) - Choirokoitia region
<p>In the context of the EU-funded project DIONE (No. 870378), targeted drone flight campaigns were conducted in determined Areas of Interest (AOIs) in the Cypriotic territory as a complementary source of information to the spaceborne Earth Observation (EO) open-accessed data. Such an activity attempted to overcome the limited capabilities of EO coarse resolution data to identify small-scale features alongside the agricultural fields, such as the non-productive Ecological Focus Areas (EFAs) and overall to enhance the quality and accuracy (1m or less) of the estimated Land Cover/Land Use elements.</p> <p>The dataset is in fact a collection of drone orthomosaic images delivered in GeoTIFF data format, which were acquired from the drone flight missions over one of the two determined locations in Cyprus (e.g. Choirokoitia). For each area, four flight campaigns were scheduled and conducted on the following dates: </p> <ul> <li><strong>1st flight:</strong> 29/3/2021- 1/4/2021</li> <li><strong>2nd flight:</strong> 30/8/2021-2/9/2021</li> <li><strong>3rd flight:</strong> 29/11/2021-03/12/2021</li> <li><strong>4th flight:</strong> 17-20/5/2022</li> </ul>

Experimental data aquisition of the U-LEAF Linear Fresnel Collector of the Cyprus Institute
<p>The file contains the experimental data for 50+ (non continuous) days of operation of the <a title="Linear Fresnel Reflector of the Cyprus Institute" href="https://energy.cyi.ac.cy/facilities/fresnel/">LFR</a> at the Cyprus Institute. This is a csv file type. The data set is divided in several columns: </p> <ul> <li><strong>Date</strong>: Year, Month, Day, Hours, Minutes, Seconds <em>as per the aquisition time-steps of the Master PLC of the Linear Fresnel Collector<br></em></li> <li><strong>Solar position</strong>: Azimuth of the sun (Azimuth =0 at South), Elevation of the sun (0 from the horizon) <em>calculated based on NOAA algorithm fitting the Master PLC aquisition time-steps for the location of the Linear Fresnel collector <br></em></li> <li><strong>IAM (Incidence Angle Modifiers)</strong>: calculated from ray tracing software (Tonatiuh) <em> based on PLC aquisition steps</em></li> <li><strong>DNI (Direct Normal Irradiance):</strong> as measured by the pyrheliometer (LP Pyhre 16 AC with EKO STR 21G tracker)</li> <li><strong>Weather station data</strong>: Ambient Temperature, Pressure, GHI, Humidity, Wind velocity (<em>Davis Vantage pro 2</em>)</li> <li><strong>Reflectometry data</strong> as measured several time per week and interpolated in between (<em>D&S Portable Specular Reflectometer Model 15R-USB</em>)</li> <li><strong>Absorber measurements</strong>: measured inlet, measured outlet and average calculated temperatures <em>in the absorber as the the aquisition of the PLCs (TC MISURE E CONTROLLI PT100, Class 1/3)</em></li> <li><strong>Heat transfer Fluid characteristics</strong>: Cp and Density, Massflow obtained from the volumetric flow (Prowirl F200, 7F2B25, DN25 1"), Power absorbed <em>as calculated based on the Duratherm 450 datasheet</em></li> </ul> <p>The date is set by the aquisition by the master PLC that registers the date, the volumetric flowrate of the HTF, the inlet temperature and the outlet temperature. </p> <p>They are 4 data base merged together:</p> <ul> <li>The master PLC </li> <li>The weather station</li> <li>DNI</li> <li>Reflectometer</li> </ul> <p>The available data matches periods of time when the 4 database had data registered. <p>This dataset contains the results of the EU co-funded surveillance activities conducted in 2021, which consisted of:</p> <ul> <li>Serological surveys to monitor the circulation of AIV subtypes H5 and H7 in poultry (active surveillance). These surveys should preferentially target poultry species or production systems with increased risk for introduction of avian influenza (AI).</li> <li>Passive surveillance aiming at the virological detection of AI in wild birds found dead or moribund.</li> </ul>

Dataset of "Exposure to airborne SARS-CoV-2 in four hospital wards and ICUs of Cyprus. A detailed study accounting for day-to-day operations and aerosol generating procedures."
<p>The authors highly appreciate being contacted if the data is to be used for any purpose.</p> <p>The following data set was used in the study entitled "<strong>Exposure to airborne </strong><strong>SARS-CoV-2 in four hospital wards and ICUs of Cyprus. A detailed study accounting for day-to-day operations and aerosol generating procedures.</strong>" and published in <em>Heliyon</em> Journal.</p> <p>This study characterized the transmission dynamics of airborne SARS-CoV-2 in normal and intensive care units. The data were collected over the period of 2020. In total, 165 and 62 air and environmental samples, respectively, were collected in four COVID-19 wards and ICUs in Cyprus and analyzed by RT-PCR. The comparison between RT-PCR and an alternative method for SARS-CoV-2 detection in air that provides comparable results but is less cumbersome and time demanding, is also given in the tab "Comparison with BELD".</p> <p>The data from sampling airborne SARS-CoV-2 using a MOUDI impactor are not included in this document but can be found in the supplement of the relevant publication.</p> <p>Please refer to the manuscript and its supplementary material for more information about how the data was collected. </p> <p> </p>
Two years of CO2 CO and CH4 from The Cyprus Institute at Nicosia, Cyprus
<p>Two years of carbon dioxide (CO2), carbon monoxide (CO) and methane (CH4) concentration measurements, were performed for the first time in the city of Nicosia, Cyprus from 11/02/2020 to 07/09/2022.</p> <p>The dataset is generated from three Picarro G2401s. Property of LSCE (187) and CYI (1172 &1173). They were consecutively installed at the Cyprus Institute, on top of the NTL building, in Nicosia residential area. The dataset was processed by LSCE at Gif-sur-Yvette in France and calibrated against a World Meteorological Organization (WMO) reference scale. </p> <p>The Eastern Mediterranean and Middle East (EMME) region, with its population of more than 400 million, is identified as one of the primary climate “hot spots” worldwide, experiencing adverse impacts ranging from extreme weather events to poor air quality. Projections show that these phenomena are expected to further exacerbate in the coming decades. At central position, lies Cyprus, an island country that receives long-range transported pollution from various anthropogenic and natural sources.</p> <p> </p>
High-resolution T2M and RH simulated using WRF-ARW over Cyprus for 2015
<p>Meteorological data generated over Cyprus for the year 2015 using the open-source, community-based, state-of-the-art Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF-ARW) Model. The model was configured according to the operational numerical weather forecasts of the Cyprus Department of Meteorology (DoM). The meteorological fields, generated with a nested configuration setup, are at an ultra-fine spatiotemporal resolution (<em>i.e.,</em> 2 km horizontal grid spacing and 1-hour temporal frequency).</p>
High-resolution spatiotemporal modelling of sand fly abundance in Cyprus in 2015
<p>The expected population size of <em>P. papatasi</em> in Cyprus in 2015 was simulated using the stochastic climate-driven population dynamics model of the species presented in Erguler <em>et al.</em> (2019). The model was simulated with air temperature and relative humidity obtained from WRF-ARW. Two sets of parameters, one for Steni and one for Geri - each with 1000 alternative configurations - were used to simulate the average number of adult females per day per trap (a proxy to expected population size).</p>
