Where2Test Saxony-Czechia COVID-19 new cases dataset

Data in the repository were used in the study "Fine-scale variation in the effect of national border on COVID-19 spread: A case study of the Saxon-Czech border region", published in Spatial and Spatio-temporal Epidemiology.

This repository consists of two files:

saxony-westczechia_cases7

Weekly numbers of new COVID-19 cases in all municipalities in Saxony and Northwestern Czechia (Liberec, Ústí nad Labem, and Karlovy Vary regions) in the first half of 2021. Data are extracted from the websites coronavirus.sachsen and onemocneni-aktualne.mzcr.cz/covid-19. The missing values were interpolated, and daily values were recalculated to weekly values.

municipalities

The second file consists of a list of all municipalities with their names, geometries, and population values. For Germany, we used the dataset "Gemeindegrenzen 2018 mit Einwohnerzahl" (© GeoBasis-DE / BKG, Statistisches Bundesamt (Destatis) (2020), dl-de/by-2-0) as a source of geometries and population sizes of the municipalities (“Gemeinde”) in Saxony. Czech population numbers on the municipality level ("obec") were taken from the Czech Statistical Office, while the geometries were obtained from RÚIAN (@Czech Office for Surveying, Mapping and Cadastre, 2021). To keep the same geometry detail on both sides of the borders, we applied the Douglas-Peucker simplification algorithm implemented in the Python library TopoJSON.

SERENA EJP Soil Green house gas aplication Moravia region, Czechia

The present dataset corresponds to a map of Net Ecosystem Productivity (NEP) for Moravia region in Czechia classified as wheat by the Eurocrop 2028 spatial product (d’Andrimont et al. 2021). The map is the result of applying the NEP cookbook developed in SERENA/EJP-Soil to the area of interest (AOI) input data. NEP is expressed for a single 8-day period in early summer as it is the date with the highest value. The NEP value is a 2010-2014 average for the particular 8-day period. The data description document of the cookbook (hereafter “GHG cookbook”) itself corresponds to other document of the SERENA project.

Sídliště z mladší doby bronzové v Březnici (Česko): data pro depoziční analýzu – The Late Bronze Age site in Březnice (Czechia): data for deposition analysis

Nálezy z archeologického výzkumu v Březnici (okr. Tábor) v letech 2005-2009 a 2019. Výzkum provedl O. Chvojka (Archeologický ústav FF JU v Českých Budějovicích). Data zahrnují údaje o keramice a dalších nálezech použitých k depoziční analýze sídlištních objektů mladší doby bronzové, zejména tzv. žlabů. Výsledky analýzy jsou publikovány v Chvojka et al. 2021. Popis databáze je obsažen v přiloženém PDF souboru. Podpořeno Grantovou agenturou ČR (18-10747S).

Finds from the archaeological excavations in Březnice (Tábor district, South Bohemia, Czech Republic) in 2005-2009 and 2019. The fieldwork was directed by O. Chvojka (Institute of Archaeology, South Bohemian University in České Budějovice). Data concern the pottery fragments and other finds (daub, loom weights) used for the analysis of deposition processes in the Late Bronze Age settlement features. Based on this material, a model of house biography and the concept of closing rituals were formulated (see Chvojka et al. 2021). These models suggest an interpretation for the so-called trenches, specific sunken features filled with an unusually rich content of secondary-burnt pottery and other finds. Details of the database are given in the attached PDF file. Discovery of new Trichophyton members, T. persicum and T. spiraliforme spp. nov., as a cause of highly inflammatory tinea cases in Iran and Czechia

Pathogens from the Trichophyton benhamiae complex are one of the most important causes of animal mycoses with significant zoonotic potential. In the light of the recently revised taxonomy of this complex, we retrospectively identified 38 Trichophyton isolates that could not be resolved in any of the existing species. These strains were isolated from Iranian and Czech patients during molecular epidemiological surveys on dermatophytosis and were predominantly associated with highly inflammatory tinea corporis cases suggesting possible zoonotic etiology. Subsequent phylogenetic (4 markers), population-genetic (10 markers) and phenotypic analyses supported recognition of two novel species. The first species, T. persicum sp. nov., was identified in 36 cases of human dermatophytosis and one case of feline dermatophytosis, mainly in Southern and Western Iran. The second species, T. spiraliforme sp. nov., is only known from a single case of tinea corporis in a Czech patient who probably contracted the infection from a dog. Although the zoonotic source of infections summarized in this study is very likely, little is known about the host spectrum of these pathogens. Awareness of these new pathogens among clinicians should refine our knowledge about their poorly explored geographic distribution.
