Data Management Plan (DMP) Process Example

This diagram is an example of a funding program solicitation mapped to the select key components of a data management plan, major data lifecycle process, infrastructure and resources, and proposed elements for sustainability of a funded research project. This diagram was developed out of a need to illustrate introductory DMP processes workflows for education, teaching, and training purposes. The DCC Checklist for a Data Management Plan (2013) and the USGS Data Lifecycle Model (2013) were adapted in this diagram.

Data Set from the DMP survey and interviews - intermediate results

This is the data set for a series of interviews in chemistry on data management (plans) and presents interim results. A more detailed analysis and description can be found in the paper "Road to a Chemistry-specific Data Management Plan" submitted to Data Science Journal (2022-12-15).
The interview series will continue in 2023 and final results will be published later in 2023.

The aim of the conducted interview series is the enrichment of the online survey data from the RDA WG Discipline-specific Guidance for DMP and in a second step the development of a chemistry-specific data management plan template. For this purpose, the current status of data management as well as information about the workflows in the various chemical disciplines were requested in a personal interview with 22 participants so far.

All the gathered information and examples will be used to develop a DMP template or guide in line with chemistry-specific requirements. The results provide a comprehensive outlook on the future developments of RDM in chemistry. Possible strategies for implementation are also discussed.

DMP: Endangered Species Analysis

s research project is centered on a systematic analysis of endangered species, employing data provided by The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). The IUCN periodically evaluates species and publishes their conservation status in the Red List. Our analysis aims to address several key questions: What is the current number of species listed as endangered? How has this number changed over time? What geographical, natural, or national factors contribute to a higher incidence of endangered species? Furthermore, we seek to determine whether these factors can also predict future trends in the number of endangered species. By examining these questions, this project aims to deepen our understanding of the dynamics affecting endangered species and contribute to their conservation efforts.

Research Questions:

How many species are currently listed as endangered?

How many animals are endangered in certain continents/areas/countries?

How many animals are endangered for a certain class (taxonomic rank; e.g., Mammalia)?

What are the main threats for certain classes?

How has this changed over time?

How has the number of endangered and critical endangered animals changed over time?

Which geographical and natural characteristics predict higher numbers of endangered species?

How has endangerment developed across climate zones?

What climate zone characteristics predict higher numbers of endangered species?

Can these characteristics predict trends in the number of species?

DMP: Illustration of State-of-the-Art Embedding Methods for Social Networks

This project aims to explore state-of-the-art network embedding methods for social network analysis, with a specific focus on link prediction. Using data from the Austrian online newspaper derStandard.at, a follow-network is constructed to represent user interactions. By applying selected network embedding algorithms to this dataset, the goal is to identify the most effective method for predicting links between users. Through this investigation, the aim is to enhance understanding of graph embedding techniques and their applicability in social network analysis tasks.

3DED/MicroED datasets of Cu1 (DMP)2 captured on a K2 detector in counting mode

Continuous rotation data sets in LZW compressed tif format (RAW folder) were collected on a JEOL CryoARM300 (300 kv) equipped with a K2 summit direct electron detector using serialEM. Datasets were collected from 6 different crystals. Each dataset was collected with an approximate flux of 0.008 e-/ Å^2/s-1 giving a final total exposure of 2.5 e-/Å^2 for a 70-degree wedge of data. Datasets were converted to mrc format (MOVIES folder) and binned by a factor of 2 in xy and z using the included python script (tiff2MRC.py). All datasets were processed in DIALS and an example bash script is provided. Experimental parameters are as follows:

Accelerating voltage: 300 kV

Wavelength: 0.019687

Cameralength: 365 mm

Exposure time: 2 s

Rotation speed: 0.25 degrees s-1

Rotation: Always negative to positive

Detector area: 1919 x 1855 (Bin 2)

Pixel size: 0.01 mm

Spot size: 7

Angle: 5

C2 aperture: 40 µm

SA aperture: 100 µm (2 µm at the sample)

Additional information can be found in the metadata folders (MDOCs and METADATA)
