500-meter grid of Derived Soil Profiles (DSP) for Italy - SuoliCella500
<p>National database of Italian Soil Typological Units (STU) and corresponding Derived Soil Profiles (DSP) obtained on a 500 meters grid (1,109,672 points) by neural network. The most probable WRB Reference Soil Group (RSG), WRB Qualifiers, and USDA textural soil types were mapped on the 500 meters grid, by neural network. 18,707 Observed soil profiles and the respective 33,014 Soil Horizons were grouped into 4,472 STUs based on the combinations of Soil Region, WRB Reference Soil Group (RSG), WRB Qualifiers, and USDA textural soil types obtained on the 500 meters grid. Statistics were calculated (Mean Value, Standard Deviation Value, and Numerosity) for soil rooting depth and for the most common analytical parameters of the soil horizons (Coarse fragment content fraction; pH in water; Carbon (C) - organic; Carbonate (CO3--) - Total; Clay, Sand, and Silt fraction; Granulometry; Textural soil types). The 500 meters grid adopts EPSG 23032 (ED50 UTM-32). A reference scale of 1:250.000 may be attributed to the 500-meters grid map, on the base of the numerosity of DSP produced for the whole italian territory.</p>

Identification of PIAS1-direct interacting proteins through DSP-based crosslinking
<p>As a conserved post-translational modification, SUMOylation has been shown to play important roles in chromatin related biological processes including transcription. However, how the SUMOylation machinery associates with chromatin is not clear. To underatand how nuclear matrix associated SUMO enzymes regulate chromatin related function, we attempted to identify the direct interacting proteins of PIAS1, a major SUMO E3 protein. We made use of the crosslinking reagent dithiobis succinimidyl propionate (DSP), which is a water-insoluble, membrane-permeable homobifunctional N-hydroxysuccimide ester that can reversibly cross-link different proteins by primary amines in cells.</p>

Experimental Data on PM-16QAM Long-Haul Transmission (after DSP)
<p>This data set contains received signal data collected from an experimental campaign with multi-subcarrier PM-16QAM signals transmitted over long-haul distances. The aggregate symbol-rate of each PM-16QAM signal is 24 GBaud, with 31 channels being transmitted in a 28 GHz grid. Propagation is performed over PSCF fiber spans with 108.25 km per span. Long-haul transmission is achieved by using a recirculating loop composed of 4 spans of fiber and inline EDFA-only amplification. For further details on the experimental setup, please refer to the following open-access publication:<br> https://doi.org/10.1364/OE.25.004298</p> <p><br> This data set comprises received optical signals after received-side digital signal processing for the following range of parameters:<br> 1, 2, 4, 6, 8 and 12 subcarriers<br> 4 to 7 recirculations;<br> -1 dBm, -0.5 dBm, 0 dBm, 0.5 dBm, 1 dBm and 2 dBm launched power;<br> 3 independent aquisitions (trials)</p> <p><br> The file names of the received signals follow the convention:</p> <p>Srx_<nSC>SCs_<Ptx>dBm_<nRec>recs_trial<trialNum>_<string>.mat</p> <p>where <nSC> is the number of subcarriers, <Ptx> is the launched power, <nRec> is the number of recirculations, <trialNum> is the trial number and <string> indicates the type of signal, which can be one of the following:<br> <beforeCPE>: signal before fine tuned carrier-phase estimation (after 8x8/4x4 MIMO equalizer);<br> <afterCPE>: signal after a fine tuned (optimized window) maximum likelihood carrier-phase estimation (decision-directed);<br> <afterCPE-DA>: signal after a data-aided carrier-phase estimation that maximizes the circularity of the 16QAM points (ideal phase estimation). <br> <br> Besides these received signals, the dataset also comprises the reference transmitted signal for each number of subcarriers, following the naming convention:</p> <p>Stx_<nSC>SCs.mat</p> <p><br> Finally, inside the sub-directory "results", a .mat file with BER results (measured after QAM demapping and comparison with the transmitted signal) for each data file is provided, following the naming convention:</p> <p><nSC>SCs_<Ptx>dBm_<nRec>recs_trial<trialNum>_<stringCPE></p> <p>where <stringCPE> can be one of the following:<br> <CPE-DA>: corresponding to the results obtained with a data-aided CPE (ideal phase estimation)<br> <CPE-DD>: corresponding to the results obtained with a decision-directed CPE with optimized window size<br> </p> <p> </p> <p> <br> Edit 2019/03/01:</p> <p>new data corresponding to the 8 SCs scenario has been added, considering different number of V&V CPE taps (201, 501, 751 and 1001). </p>

BOREAS Follow-On DSP-10 Regridded Land Cover Maps for 1994
These images were produced by aggregating the 1-km land cover classification by Lou Steyaert at multiple resolutions (2 km, 10x5 minutes, and 0.5 degree). These data were regridded for use by the BOREAS Follow-on Carbon and Hydro-Meteorological modeling groups to have a number of data sets available in common grid projections and scales for intercomparison studies. Characteristics of the individual products are described in the data set guide document.
BOREAS Follow-On DSP-04 1994 ERS-1 Level-4 Landscape Freeze/Thaw Maps, Ver. 1.0
The BOREAS DSP-4 team acquired and analyzed imaging radar data from the ESA's ERS-1 over a complete annual cycle at the BOREAS sites in Canada in 1994 to detect shifts in radar backscatter related to varying environmental conditions. Two independent transitions correlating with snow melt and soil thaw onset, and possible canopy thaw were revealed by the data. The results demonstrated that radar provides an ability to observe thaw transitions at the beginning of the growing season, which in turn helps constrain the length of the growing season. The data presented here are gridded maps of landscape freeze/thaw state derived from backscatter change maps. The backscatter change maps were computed from radar backscatter images covering the southern BOREAS sites. The freeze/thaw classifications were determined through application of a change detection threshold based on temporal backscatter change relative to a winter-time frozen reference state. The data are provided as both ASCII text and as binary image (*.gif) format files.
