<p>This dataset contains the daily precipitation anomalies in the Brazilian northeast calculated from the GPCP dataset (combined sources of precipitation measurement) in the period from 1996-10-01 to 2021-07-31, in the geographic boundaries 42°W - 30°W/20.5°S - 0°. The GPCP dataset has an original resolution of 1 degree, but this dataset was interpolated by the bilinear method, obtaining a resolution of 0.25 degrees.</p>
Daily Anomalies of the Surface Atmospheric Fluxes of the Brazilian Northeast (DASAF-BNE)
<p>This dataset contains the daily anomalies of the main atmospheric fluxes throughout the Brazilian NE region. Geographically it is framed at 42.5°W - 29.75°E/20.5°S - 1.25°N, in the time range from 1979-01-01 12:00:00 to 2017-12-31 12:00:00. The DASAF-BNE dataset with a spatial resolution of 1 degree was the basis for the calculation of the daily anomalies, they were interpolated by the bilinear method to obtain a resolution of 0.25 degrees.</p>

Daily Anomalies and High Productivity Zone Mask for Northern Peruvian Coastal Marine Ecosystem during the 2017 Coastal El Niño (December 2016 - May 2017)
<p>This dataset is part of the manuscript entitled "Chlorophyll Response and High Productivity Zone Contraction in Northern Perú During the 2017 Coastal El Niño."</p> <p>The dataset is designed to assess the atmospheric and oceanographic drivers of productivity changes during the 2017 Coastal El Niño. It allows detailed analysis of the interactions between physical processes (e.g., wind-driven upwelling rates, heat flux changes) and biological responses (e.g., chlorophyll concentration variations) in a region highly susceptible to ENSO-related variability. This comprehensive dataset provides valuable insight into the physical-biological coupling and the impacts of rapid climate events on marine ecosystems. The dataset, covering the period from December 1, 2016, to May 31, 2017, includes:</p> <p>1. Chlorophyll-a Anomalies (chla): Represents deviations in surface chlorophyll concentrations, a proxy for phytoplankton biomass, highlighting variations in primary productivity during the event.</p> <p>2. Sea Surface Temperature Anomalies (sst): Captures changes in sea surface temperatures relative to the climatological mean, providing insight into the warming pattern typical of marine heatwaves associated with the Coastal El Niño.</p> <p>3. Sea Level Anomaly (sla): Indicates changes in sea surface height, which reflects thermal expansion of water masses and potential contributions from coastal trapped waves propagating along the Peruvian coast.</p> <p>4. Wind Component Anomalies (u,v): Daily anomalies for both zonal (east-west) and meridional (north-south) wind components, which are critical for understanding changes in wind patterns including upwelling and Ekman transport processes.</p> <p>5. Ekman Pumping Anomalies (w): Represents variations in vertical water movement forced by wind stress curl, highlighting the suppression or enhancement of upwelling during the event.</p> <p>6. Latent Heat Flux Anomalies (lathf): Indicates deviations in heat loss from the ocean surface due to evaporation, affecting surface temperature regulation.</p> <p>7. Shortwave Radiation Anomalies (swrad): Shows changes in solar radiation (and also a proxy for PAR) reaching the ocean surface, influencing upper ocean heat content and the light availability for phytoplankton.</p> <p>8. High Productivity Zone (mask): A binary mask with daily values of 1 indicating areas meeting the HPZ criterion and 0 otherwise, allowing for spatial tracking of the HPZ's extent during the period of study.</p> <p> </p>

MODIS/Aqua Thermal Anomalies/Fire Daily L3 Global 1km SIN Grid V006
The MYD14A1 Version 6 data product was decommissioned on July 31, 2023. Users are encouraged to use the [MYD14A1 Version 6.1](https://doi.org/10.5067/MODIS/MYD14A1.061) data product. The Aqua Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) Thermal Anomalies and Fire Daily (MYD14A1) Version 6 data are generated every eight days at 1 kilometer (km) spatial resolution as a Level 3 product. MYD14A1 contains eight consecutive days of fire data conveniently packaged into a single file. The Science Dataset (SDS) layers include the fire mask, pixel quality indicators, maximum fire-radiative-power (MaxFRP), and the position of the fire pixel within the scan. Each layer consists of daily per pixel information for each of the eight days of data acquisition. Known Issues* Known issues are described on the [MODIS/VIIRS Land Quality Assessment website](https://landweb.modaps.eosdis.nasa.gov/knownissue?sensor=MODIS&sat=Aqua&as=6) and in Section 7.2 of the User Guide which covers Pre-November 2000 Data Quality, Detection Confidence, Flagging of Static Sources, and the August 2020 MODIS Aqua Outage.Improvements/Changes from Previous Versions* Refinements to internal cloud mask, which sometimes flags heavy smoke as clouds.* Fix for frequent false alarms occurring in the Amazon that are caused by small (~1 km²) clearings within forests. * Fix to correct a bug that causes incorrect assessment of cloud and water pixels adjacent to fire pixels near the scan edge.* Detect small fires using dynamic thresholding.* Process ocean and coastline pixels to detect fire from oil rigs.* The Version 6 fire mask has the potential to detect fire over water pixels. Therefore, class 3 pixel values have been changed to be classified as “non-fire water pixels”.

This has an impact on the retrieval of other downstream data products such as VNP13 Vegetation Indices and VNP43 Bidirectional Reflectance Distribution Function (BRDF)/Albedo.* Improved cloud mask input product for corrections along coastlines and artifacts from use of coarse resolution climatology data. * Replaced the land/water mask input product with the eight-class land/water mask from the VNP03 geolocation product that better aligns with MODIS.* More details can be found in this [VIIRS Land V2 Changes document](https://landweb.modaps.eosdis.nasa.gov/data/userguide/VIIRS_Land_C2_Changes_09152022.pdf).
