PSM-AP Comparative document analysis data: Priorities and challenges in the policy and digital strategies of ten PSM
<p>The document consists of a list of 61 key policy and strategy documents analysed as part of the comparative work conducted in WP1 of the project Public Service Media in the Age of Platforms (PSM-AP). It also contains a series of selected quotes supporting the three key areas prioritised by the policies and PSM digital strategies: People (reaching audiences), Personalisation (developing the video-on-demand portal), and Prominence (of PSM services and content). The data was collected and analysed in 2023, from documents concerning 10 PSM organisations in seven media markets: Belgium-Flanders (VRT), Belgium-Wallonia Brussels (RTBF), Canada (CBC/Radio-Canada), Denmark (DR, TV 2) Italy (RAI), Poland (TVP), and the UK (BBC, Channel 4, ITV). All quotes were translated to English by the authors.</p>
Can Digital Currencies End Financial Exclusion in Indonesia? Economic Realities and Policy Ambitions
<p>Digitalisation is driving Indonesia’s economic development. The empowerment<br> of an efficient system of digital payments is a key underlying factor for the<br> establishment of an inclusive and well-developed digital economy. As a first<br> and fundamental step, the Bank of Indonesia launched the “National Cashless<br> Movement” (GNNT) in 2014. This vision was further advanced with the “Indonesia<br> Payment System Blueprint 2025” (IPS), which aimed at boosting digitalisation in<br> the banking industry through open banking and technology developments. As a<br> result, Indonesia’s digital economy and finance is recording remarkable upward<br> trends – such as an increase of 36.9 per cent in e-commerce and 52.6 per cent in<br> fintech lending transactions between 2020 and 2021. Similarly, cashless payments<br> are experiencing a spectacular growth. The usage of the Quick Response Indonesia<br> Standard (QRIS) system, which enhances cashless payment, has doubled. Credit<br> card transactions and e-money usage increased by 20 per cent and 51.6 per cent,<br> respectively, in the same two-year period.</p> <p>In this context of vibrant, quick transformations, a diverse ecosystem – which<br> comprises incumbent financial institutions, start-ups and technology companies<br> – is trying to advance Indonesia’s digital payments while targeting the goal of<br> financial inclusion. The rise of digital payment solutions indeed provides a unique<br> window of opportunity to tackle the current 92 million unbanked Indonesians<br> and 62 million small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that are excluded from<br> the formal economy in Indonesia.</p>

Innovation Systems & Policy Insight 3_2022 "Responsible Research & Innovation approach for transitioning the traditional industry regions into digitalized industry territories"
<p>In this ISP Insight Video, coordinator Marianne Hörlesberger tells you more about the EU Project DigiTeRRI which deals with a Responsible Research & Innovation Approach for transitioning the traditional industry regions into digitalised industry territories. The EU project DigiTeRRI empowers 3 traditional industry regions to harness the opportunities presented by digitalisation. The project has co-created a framework and roadmaps for a responsible transition to self-sustaining, digitalised industrial innovation ecosystems. It has worked out the challenges in the interplay between business, academia, government and society to initiate openness, democratic accountability and responsiveness in a process that will in turn promote resilience within these new, digitalised innovation ecosystems. Important attributes for this transition are also gender equality, science education, open access, public engagement, and ethics, which support both organisations and citizens in adapting the transformation that is revolutionising research, industry, economy, & society. Finally, 12 actions, based on the roadmap goals and objectives in each territory have been developed and implemented. This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement nº 873010.</p>
The state of digital archaeological archiving policies and practice [questionnaire survey results]
<p>The digital transition in archaeology is often taken for granted, yet the process is far from complete. The topic of digital archiving has been addressed by both the EAC Working Group for Archaeological Archives and the SEADDA project. These two entities joined forces to produce a special issue of the Internet Archaeology journal, bringing together papers on digital archiving practices in over two dozen countries (Richards et al. 2021). The papers were later analysed by EAC and SEADDA to compare the international situation. The results reveal both shared difficulties associated with the issue of documentary archives worldwide and examples of good practices that help to overcome these problems.</p> <p>A questionnaire survey was also carried out to complement the findings resulting from the interpretation of the published articles with supporting data covering the whole European area in a balanced way. The survey allowed for the compilation of an overview of the situation in 27 countries (30 regions) of Europe. All respondents were experts involved in digital archiving and/or heritage data management in individual countries. Based on the collected information, the disproportion in value of archaeological data and their position within heritage management practice is already proving to be a major shortcoming.
